Harbinger of Calamity

a Neet who has worked hard his entire life, who has experienced the vicissitudes of life, living much of his life in poverty, depression and drug addiction, at the end of his difficult road, dies of cancer at the age of 26. Having suffered his entire life trying to face the cruel reality of the world, always chasing higher pursuits and exploring ideas but his pursuit of truth only leads to his own collapse. In his last days instead of weeping, he laughs, he laughs at the absurdity of it all. It seemed as if fate had played the biggest joke on him, he had taken too seriously what had no value. What is life? a blink of an eye! as unreal as a dream, what a mysterious world, we are just born out of nowhere only to vanish later on. A profound sigh was uttered "If only I wasn't dealt such bad cards! I was made for the heights yet here I am crashed in the abyss of life."  Looking at the world he was soon to leave, he sighed "Humanity truly has fallen in this era, it has crashed from the heights of embodying divinity to succumbing to their animalistic selves becoming creatures of decadence, slaves to pleasure, lust and the lowly desires of the body. Truly my heart weeps for the tragedy of humanity, the industrial revolution, a slave society disguised as 'modern society', poisonous foods filled with chemicals, an entire network engineered to enslave minds called the internet, an absolute infestation of decadence and mediocrity in the very Human spirit that used to overpower all. All humanity is enslaved, what can't parents even teach? they are slaves themselves. Atleast in this life, I refused to be a slave, I was a free being, atleast in the later half of my life, I followed my own passions and lived my own life but in the end, sigh I failed! But oh well, who ever lived a perfect life in this world? as the darkness of death engulfs him, he fully accepts it and is gone. A pair of eye opened and an absolutely stunning sight appeared, he was transmigrated. For the first time in so long, he could see clearly without glasses or contacts, he could feel physically powerful instead of a sickly body and a destroyed pleasure system. He resolves that this time, this life, He would pursue his own freedom! He would never give up on himself and he will walk his own path to the very end. "That's right, I was wrong depending on sympathy. Cold, heartless, I won't forgive them, they can't be forgiven! That's right, it wasn't me who was wrong, it was the world that was wrong!" A descent towards Madness. A cruel world where no refuge can be found, countless obstacles obstructing one's path, mountains of corpses, an abyss of blood, a heart of darkness, a cruel fate to all living beings. No heart or soul, only an abyss of despair and a heart to ascend beyond. ... Anima

"Hey will, aside from those terms, what is an 'anima', I remember you mentioning it before."

The purple figure had already long since vanished going back into his dao marks but at this moment, it reemerged.

"Look at this."

The purple figure entered its hand into his robe touching his body before purple dao runes arose.

These runes flew in the air, they appeared like swiggly lines floating in space.

The purple figure catched these lines using both hands before sealing them.

She then slowly opened her hand, this time the dao marks weren't in a rune form but became electricity.

From afar her hand looked like a tesla coil as purple electricity flickered between her upper and lower hand.

She then slowly seperated both hands, half of the purple electricity was on her right hand while the other half was on her left hand.

She then clenched both of her fists before opening them.

On both her hands was now a very small and faint ball of purple light.

She moved both of her hands as the two purple lights began spinning around each other.

Their speed increased gradually until it reached such a high speed that a powerful wind blew sending Nameless's hair flying!

They spinned faster and faster flickering while they span on each other, disappearing and reappearing as they were merging.

This continued for a minute before they merged into a one slightly bigger flickering purple spark that was the size of a thumb.

"This is a rank 2 purple flickering light, it's a rank 2 anima."

"What do you mean?"

"Anima are the essence of the rules of the world meaning they contain the very laws of Heaven and earth."

"The laws of Heaven and earth?"

"That's right, a space path anima contains space path laws, a light path anima contains light path laws. All these paths are part of the Dao, meaning Anima are the culmination of the merging of dao marks and laws of the world into a higher form of existence, in this case a higher rank."

She continued : "of course, Anima in lower ranks are nothing impressive but they are still useful and powerful. They can be extremely terrifying at higher ranks but the more powerful something is, the more restrictions there will be around its creation thus they are extremely hard to refine, create and use."

"Something like that exists?! then how can I get one? are they necessary for power in this world?"

"They aren't necessary but they are extremely useful, take this rank 2 purple flickering spark, it is possible to have a similar effect with the energy in one's dantian through a technique along with a good attainment in light path but it would consume a lot more energy than just using an anima. I will put a few drops in your dantia, use these few drops to fuel this anima."

A few dao marks moved and entered his dantian.

"What?! such a thing is possible?!"

Nameless looked as his dantian was filled with purple drops.

She moved the anima to his finger before saying : "Move those drops through your body to your finger, the anima should do the rest."

Nameless visualised moving the drops from his lower-abdomen to his upper chest then his arms and hands before finally reaching his index finger.

The purple drops were concentrated in his finger, the anima sensed it before it moved to absorb these drops. The moment it absorbed them it lighted in a bright purple light that illuminated most of the cavern.

Yet it only lighted up for fifteen seconds before it returned to normal.

"Impressive, these light nearly blinded me and only from a few drops." Nameless spoke suprised.

She responded : "This same effect would have needed a rank 2 or even a rank 3 spell but even after using it, you will have nothing left after having only created a temporary effect."

She continued : "Anima can exist indefinitely as long as they are fed, they can be used endlessly as long as they are well taken care of. It's also more effective to use them that way, they can exist in all shapes and sizes, as a beast, as an insect, as a rock, as a metal, as a cloud, no one can predict what shape they come in, the only thing we know is they are exclusively made of dao marks. They are very hard to find in the natural world but they can be refined by humans using a good refinement attainment, natural ressources full of natural energy as well as the correct recipe."

She carried on : "Human beings have experimented with Anima since the dawn of their existence, they were one of the greatest way to circumvent the dominance of beasts in this world but of course, they also found out they were extremely hard to cultivate and at times investing in spells was more efficient. Anima can be destroyed quite easily so cultivators hide them in their dantian or sea of consciousness.

"I see, that's impressive, it seems I will have to first learn about cultivation, how should I go about acquiring an Anima?"

"It's nearly impossible and I personally do not recommend until you've reached a higher rank or joined a clan or an organisation. Anima have always been a pain to feed and maintain. As for cultivation, I will explain it in depth when you absorb the energy in your birthplace. Practice is always superior to explanation."

"That's great, I will the beast cores needed then go there."

Nameless thought before he asked : "How much of the dao marks did you use to create this anima?"

"About thirty percent."

"What?! you wasted thirty percent of the dao marks for this?!"

"Yes."

"You?! are you crazy? weren't they meant to help me survive?!"

"Don't worry, sigh, people these days, just wait I will return them to you."

She extended her finger and moved it in the air randomly, the rank 2 purple flickering spark anima followed her movements in the air as it became bigger and bigger.

She stopped when it became the size of her palm before she put a hand above and below it.

The purple ball soon began to turn into purple electricity that emitted electric sounds and flickered violently.

She moved her hands seperating the balls into two before she clenched her fist.

The purple sparks fought to escape but they could only stay within her palms before they turned back into two small flickering sparks the size of a half a thumb.

She moved one spark to her finger before she blew at it, sending a small wind with her mouth. The purple spark turned into purple runes before they entered Nameless's body.

She did the same to the other spark.

"It's done."

"You?! what was that just now?"

"It's called reverse refinement. There is refinement which in this case was fusion and now reverse refinement which is returining back to the components before the original refinement."

"So all the dao marks returned?"

"There was a three percent loss but that is already because of my high attainment in refinement path." She responded.

"I understand now thanks." Nameless spoke.

"The banquet is ready!!" a small voice echoed as a mushroom miniman hit what looked like a lid of a cooking pot with a wooden spoon.
