Goro stepped out of Lagann to speak with the group of humans they had just saved. Their leader, a rugged man with tired eyes, introduced himself as Riggs.
"We're from an underground village, same as you," Riggs began, gesturing to the four other survivors huddled nearby. "About a month ago, everything fell apart when a Gunman from the surface crashed straight through our ceiling."
His voice grew heavy with the weight of the memory. "The collapse killed most of our people. The few of us who survived made it to the surface... only to be hunted like animals by the beastmen. They call us pests, vermin. We've been running ever since."
Goro's brows furrowed as he listened
Riggs continued, his voice tinged with bitterness and despair. "We were twenty when we first made it out. Every day since, we've been picked off, one by one. Yesterday, there were seven of us. Today, it's just five. We were out of options, out of hope. This was supposed to be our last stand."
"But it wasn't," Goro said firmly, his gaze locking with Riggs's. "Not anymore. We're here now, and we're not going to let them wipe you out."
Kamina, who had been quietly standing nearby, crossed his arms "That's right! You've got us now. Beastmen don't stand a chance against the mighty Kamina and our team!"
Simon stepped out from behind Kamina "You won't have to run anymore.."
Riggs looked at the trio. "You've already saved us once. If you really mean that… then thank you. But this won't be the end. Once they've locked on to us they will just keep on coming until we're all wiped out. Can you handle that?"
Goro met Riggs' gaze, unwavering. "We can handle it. We've got the power and the will to fight back."
"Yeah, We're not just gonna sit back while people get wiped out by these beastmen!"
Simon, though quieter, nodded in agreement.
Riggs studied them for a moment, as if measuring their resolve. Then, with a slight nod, he said, "Alright. If you're willing to take that risk, then so are we. We'll follow your lead."
"Good," Goro said firmly. "But we don't just fight to survive, we fight to win. Stick with us, and we'll make sure those beastmen regret ever messing with humans.
—
Even though Goro had spoken with confidence, he felt a weight pressing on him as they set up camp for the night. Deep down, he knew he hadn't yet mastered the Spiral Power. He could barely keep Lagann steady in battle, let alone attempt something as advanced as combining with Gurren. If he wanted to stand by his bold words and protect everyone, he had to learn to control Lagann's power, and fast.
Sitting away from the group, Goro stared at Lagann. The drills were more than just weapons, they were extensions of the Spiral Power inside him. But how could he tap into it consistently? The connection felt instinctive at times, yet distant when he needed it most.
"Oi, Goro!" Kamina called out, wandering over with his usual confident swagger. "What's with the long face? We just saved those people, shouldn't you be celebrating?"
"I'm just thinking about how we're going to handle the next fight. More of them are coming after us and they'll be stronger than the ones from before."
Kamina leaned back, resting his hands behind his head, a cocky grin on his face. "Stronger, huh? Good! That just means we'll get stronger, too. That's how it works, right?"
"It's not that simple, Kamina. This isn't just about fighting harder. These Beastmen aren't going to stop, and they're not fighting like us they're organized. If we keep winging it, someone's going to get hurt. Or worse."
Kamina's grin faded slightly, but he quickly waved a hand dismissively. "Hey, we've got Lagann, we've got Gurren, and we've got me. That's more than enough to handle whatever they throw at us!"
"Confidence doesn't win fights on its own," Goro countered, his voice sharp. "Lagann has limits, and I still don't know how to push it beyond them. We got lucky today."
Kamina stood up, a shadow of irritation flashing across his face. "Lucky? No, we won because we didn't back down. If you start doubting yourself now, you'll never figure it out."
Goro met Kamina's gaze, his expression unreadable. After a moment, he softened. "Maybe you're right, but I need to be ready for whatever's next.."
"Believe In The Me That Believes In You" Kamina said, pounding his fist into his chest. "And Simon. And Lagann. You've got that fire, Goro, you just need to stop holding back."
Goro looked at Kamina, caught off guard by the sheer conviction in his voice.
Kamina smirked, his usual bravado returning. " figure it out, Goro. But don't forget, we're in this together. You're not carrying this weight alone."
Goro gave a small nod
Kamina's words lit a small spark in Goro. Those were the same lines Kamina always used in the show, he didn't expect kamina to use it on him but hearing them in real life felt different, like they carried more weight. but he knew it wouldn't be enough. He needed more than just encouragement, he needed focus, practice, and a breakthrough. Tomorrow, he decided he would test himself. He would push Lagann to its limits and find the key to unlocking its full potential. There was no other way.
—
Lagann was more than just a machine, it felt almost alive. In the show, Lagann had been capable of recovering from nearly anything, as long as it was fueled by enough spiral power. That same potential was here untapped and waiting. Goro could feel the faint hum of energy coursing through it, like a heartbeat. The thought of unlocking that full potential sent a thrill through him.
And then there was its ability to combine with other Gunmen. Goro knew from the show that Lagann could integrate with any Gunman it gained control over, enhancing both its power and capabilities in ways that defied logic. It didn't matter how broken or battered the Gunman was; once Lagann took control, it became something greater, something beyond scientific explanation.
"unstoppable, and downright crazy," Goro muttered to himself, a small grin tugging at his lips. He glanced at Kamina and Simon, who were busy discussing their next moves.
boom!
Riggs' crew scrambled for cover, fear etched across their faces. "Ambush!" one of them had yelled
It was the beastmen, this time something different showed up, a massive two faced Gunman accompanied by the earth shaking footsteps. Its towering form cast a long shadow over the group
"Hello filthy humans, today you will meet your demise by the hands of commander toren!" the gunmen shouted out.
Inside Gurren, Kamina grinned despite the threat. "Two faces? What, they couldn't decide which one was uglier?" he quipped.
Goro, however, wasn't in the mood for jokes. "Stay focused. This isn't like the ones we've fought before," he said, his hands tightening on the controls of Lagann. He glanced at Simon, who was sitting nervously beside Kamina. "Simon, don't panic. Just stick with Kamina and me. We'll handle this."
Commander Toren's towering Gunman raised its massive arms, mechanical joints grinding as it aimed at the group. Its colossal fists slammed into the ground, sending shockwaves rippling through the terrain. Lagann nimbly dodged, its agile movements keeping it safe, but Gurren was slower, taking the full brunt of the attack and getting knocked down.
Goro preparing for another devastating strike. He saw his chance, the opening he needed. "DRILL TACKLE!" he shouted. Lagann's left arm transformed into a spinning drill and rushed forward, aiming for the chest of Toren's Gunman.
But the attack was futile. Toren's Gunman absorbed the hit with ease, its reinforced armor too strong. Lagann was thrown back, crashing to the ground with a resounding impact.
Gurren, having regained its balance, tried to fight back, launching a counterattack with its powerful fists. But once again, Toren's overwhelming strength proved too much, and Gurren was pushed back. The gap in power was clear, they couldn't win like this.
Goro gritted his teeth. They needed more power. They couldn't defeat Toren's Gunman as they were.
"You really think you can defeat me, puny humans?!" Toren laughed, the sound of his mocking voice booming from his cockpit.
"We need to combine, Kamina. It's the only way."
Kamina, confused but still ready to fight, glanced over at Goro. "Combine? What do you mean?"
Without waiting for an answer, Goro leapt into action. He knew Kamina wasn't going to understand instantly, so he had to show him.
"Lagann!" Goro commanded, and the small Gunman shot forward, moving swiftly. He aimed directly for the top of Gurren, the spiral power coursing through his body as he activated the drill in Lagann's torso.
"Hold on, Kamina!" Goro shouted, focusing all his strength into the attack.
With a deafening roar, Lagann's drill pierced into the top of Gurren, drilling into it with incredible force. Kamina's eyes widened in disbelief as he felt the entire cockpit shake.
"What the hell are you doing!?" Kamina yelled, gripping the controls of Gurren, trying to make sense of what Goro was doing.
"I'm giving us the power we need! Just trust me!" Goro shouted back, sweat dripping from his forehead as the drill continued to burrow into Gurren's frame.
A few moments passed, the drill spinning faster and faster, before suddenly, a surge of energy pulsed through both Gunmen. Kamina's control panel lit up with new readings, and the connection between Gurren and Lagann sparked to life.
"What the hell?!" Kamina shouted, astonished by the sudden change.
"Wow, it worked the first try!" Goro thought with a grin. He wasn't sure it would work, but it did. The Gunman began to shift, transforming seamlessly into a new, more powerful form Gurren Lagann. Lagann formed the head, and Gurren became the body, a perfect fusion of power and agility.
The surge of energy was palpable, not just for Goro and Kamina, but for Simon, Toren, and the survivors. Everyone could feel the difference, the raw power now coursing through their combined mecha.
Toren, visibly shaken, bellowed, "You're just mere humans! How could you have combined!?"
Goro stood tall in the cockpit of their newly merged form, his voice steady but filled with resolve. "Don't underestimate humanity."
Kamina, ever confident, grinned widely and added, "We always find a way to push through the impossible!"
With a fierce intensity in their voices, Goro and Kamina shouted in unison, "Just who the hell do you think we are?!"
Toren's Gunman staggered back, clearly rattled by the sudden transformation. "Impossible!" Toren roared. "You're just a bunch of insignificant creatures! No matter what you do, you'll never defeat the Beastmen!"
Goro's eyes burning with fiery determination. "You don't get it, do you? We're not just humans. We're the ones who keep pushing forward no matter how much you try to crush us. We will break through every obstacle in our way."
With a loud roar, the newly combined Gurren Lagann lunged forward, its drills glowing with intense Spiral Power. The earth shook with every step it took, and the air crackled with energy as Goro and Kamina worked in perfect synchronization.
"Ultimate Drill!" Kamina shouted, his voice filled with excitement.
Goro gritted his teeth and added, "Breaker!"
The massive drill on the front of Gurren Lagann spun like a cyclone, slamming into Toren's Gunman with an explosion of force. The sound of metal being torn apart rang out across the battlefield as Toren's Gunman was slammed backward, struggling to withstand the impact.
Toren's eyes widened in shock. "No! I won't be defeated by you vermin!" He tried to push back, but it was too late. The combined power of Gurren and Lagann was overwhelming.
With one final push, the drill pierced through Toren's Gunman, its defenses crumbling beneath the might of Gurren Lagann's Spiral Power.
Toren's voice faltered as his Gunman collapsed, sparks flying from its exposed interior. "Impossible..."
The beastman commander struggled to maintain control, but it was clear that his Gunman was no match for the combined might of Gurren Lagann.
With a final, decisive strike, Gurren Lagann shattered Toren's Gunman, sending the remnants of the machine flying into the air.
As the dust settled, Goro and Kamina stood tall in their combined mecha, breathing heavily but victorious. The sound of their enemies' defeat echoed in the air.
Simon stood behind them, eyes wide with amazement. "That was... incredible. We really did it!"
Riggs and the others from the village watched in awe, realizing that they had found not just fighters, but people who could bring hope back to their world.
