Guiding Light

When the Throne Of Paradise is without a Lord, it falls on the Four Guardian Concepts to find a Champion Worthy enough to sit upon it. _________________ [The first 10 chapters are essentially one long prologue. They are written to explain and outline the basics of the story. They are not fillers, nor are they pumped with action. They are there to introduce the main characters of the story. ------------------------------------------------------- I was getting sick of seeing so many evil/perverted stories so I really wanted to make something like this to make myself feel better. I enjoy a nice guy, so if you want evil, corrupted or anti-hero, this isn't your cup of tea. The MC won't kill easily, almost never. He will only take a life if there is literally no other option. Again, if this isn't your cup of tea, then do NOT read. I don't wanna see comments saying, "Why won't he kill?" "Just kill them!" This was your warning, the MC will not change his morals just because you're dissatisfied about his behavior. -------------------------------------------------------- If you've read my other work and followed me for a while, you know the drill by now. {Prologue}: Unlocking Powers At The most unfortunate Moment

Levy and her goons parted ways with Micah and he officially started his long long walk to Magnolia. They went on to try and pick up a lead on the bandit group responsible for the raid. He only knew the general direction to travel. He didn't ask Levy the distance, or how long it would take him by foot. Lucky for him, he was technically no longer entirely mortal. He had already begun his ascension to become something more. As Blue had explained prior, this gave him multiple benefits. One of which was enhanced levels of stamina. Something he was taking advantage of extensively. He was jogging lightly on the rocky country-side road, in middle of what seemed to be an infinite span of grassland. His vision had enhanced tremendously, yet he couldn't see anything other than grassland. This highly suggested that Magnolia was far, far away from his village.

And after days of walking, it was made very clear that Magnolia was a lot farther away than Rufus told him. He often said it laid relatively close, but he had been walking for days and all he saw was grassland. 'Master, excuse my interruption. Why don't you use your {Light} for travel? You may not be able to use it to a high standard as of yet, but you have more than enough magic power for a few miles of coverage.' After days of silence between them, Blue broke it with some sudden useful advice.

'Travel?' Micah remembered the talk about Light-speed that they had in the woods by the lake. 'How do I activate it? Is it dependent on verbal command, or some kind of movement?'

'Will. You need to will your {Light} to activate. Nothing complicated about it. Will the {Light} to guide you, to carry you and it will. You are its Master, my Master. Your wish is our command.'

"Hm, I guess it's worth a try. Since I can only run for about a day without getting tired, some form of travel that isn't by foot should be nice." Micah stopped and closed his eyes.

All he had to do was will it to life, how hard could it really be. The only slight problem was, how to will something to life when you don't entirely understand it. He could shoot that light beam back in the forest, but even that was accidental. "Come forth LIGHT!" He yelled in exaggeration after several minutes of nothing happening.

'That was close, Master!" Blue's excited voice sounded out in his mind.

"Really?! Then we try again, Come forth LIGHT!" Micah yelled even louder and parts of his body actually started to turn into light particles. "SHIT! BLUE, I DID IT!" He looked down on his right arm as it was slowly turning into light.

'Master, you should hurry and take control before you accidentally travel somewhere far far away and exhaust yourself.' It was too late as he was completely transformed into light and disappeared from his spot. And only moments later he was back in his village, he appeared a few hundred meters outside of it. His body reverted and he fell unconscious, exhausted from the travel.

Controlling Blue's power was very different from controlling any form of magic this world had. It wasn't strictly magic, it was more of a fundamental force of existence. That's why losing control, albeit harder to do with {Light} as Blue described, was still very possible for someone as inexperienced in combat as Micah. Most Hosts has had some form of training, while Micah started from the absolute bottom.

*****A Few Days Later*****

Micah felt himself waking up. He had just had the weirdest experience of his life. He had just been living his dream, his actual dream. Blue mentioned only a fraction of the benefits his powers offered him and he had just found out a lot more. She had left out things like heightened senses, increased observational skills. Heightened comprehension and absorption of knowledge. And with his senses heightened to abnormal decrees, it was apparently common for hosts to be able to be conscious in their own dreams. And all of this would increase with age. Essentially, life experience equals strength. He would now be learning faster, he would eventually be able to accomplish what very few could, mental compartmentalization. As Blue had described to him in his dream, he would most likely never forget anything ever again. No battles would be forgotten, no random words in numerous books would drift aimlessly in his mind space and be lost to the times. He would remember it all and have the ability to draw upon it all at will. This would require training and time to accomplish but his memory and every natural mortal attribute would increase without end until he stood as a literal God above the multiverse. Unless he dies before that happens, of course.

"Boy, I sense you have awoken. Better not make me impatient less I end you. What is your name?" Micah heard that voice clear as day. He didn't recognize it. It sounded nothing like old Rufus rusty voice.

"Are you sure he's awake? He looks utterly dead!" This time he heard a female voice, and right after he felt a finger poking at his cheek. It was soft and a very nice smell washed over him, he would have very much liked to enjoy it longer if it wasn't for the scary growl he heard from the first voice.

With a little struggle and slight help from the girl, he was able to sit up properly. When his eyes adjusted to the light pointing right at him, he opened his eyes. "I-I'm awake. Who are you, people?" As soon as his eyes adjusted enough to allow him to lay his gaze on the strangers, he noted how dark and sinister the very air felt against his skin. The main man in the room, with a fully tattoed face, looked like death incarnate, and from just locking eyes with him, Micah felt his stomach turn.

"My name is Brain, and you are gonna explain to me what you are, or I am gonna kill you. Oh, and this here is Angel." Brain pointed at the girl standing next to the bed.

"Nice to meet you," Micah didn't know where he got the courage to speak, but the words slipped out of his mouth almost automatically. The girl or late teenager was incredibly pretty, but he allocated only a second to observe her before looking at the man identified as Brain. Weird name is the first thought that popped into his head. Second thing was, 'If I don't answer truthfully, which I will assume he has ways to tell, he will kill me. With magic, he should be able to tell if I'm lying or not. Why wouldn't he, magic can do anything, right? Plus, I absolutely suck at lying, never done it in my life. One of the Old man's, rules-Of-Life. Never tell a lie.' Micah tried to quickly formulate some sort of plan on how to lie without actually lying, and it wasn't easy for someone so adamant on telling the truth.

"Ignore her! Tell me, what are you. You are magical, but your light was not magic. Do not bother lying about your powers. You arrived just meters away from us, I saw you use it, and I know it is not any magic I know of. It is certainly somewhat magical in nature, it has to be, but it is not pure magic." Brain gave his quick analysis and in front of those piercing scary-looking eyes, Micah felt defenceless and utterly naked. In fact, that reminded him, he was actually naked. Angel discerned that he realized he was chained down on a stretched completely naked and flaunted a smile of superiority.

"Focus, boy! Remember, I do NOT have the patience for kids with no discipline."

'Then why are you questioning a kid?' Was Micah's mental response.

He studied Brain's expressions while speaking and praying to the multiverse that it didn't register as lies. "I do not actually know, Sir Brain. My powers are something I have just awoken and I don't even know how I appeared in front of you. I just willed it, and it happened." He took a shot and from now he would have to tread carefully so that he didn't speak an obvious lie. Does excluding the conversations with Blue count as lying? Even though he barely understood the context of them, he had participated, so would that register as him lying because he withheld information?

"You don't appear to have told a lie." Brain's expression made it quite clear that whatever method he used was something not even he trusted completely. "The second question; you have an incredible mental defence. It's unlike anything I've seen. Care to explain?" He looked very interested and less threatening.

'I would never allow an average mortal to gaze into the mind of my Master.' Blue answered quickly, but it only served to annoy Micah because he couldn't tell Brain that.

"Brought upon by my powers, I suppose. Sir Brain, I sincerely mean it when I say I have no clue how my powers work." Micah was gonna try and built even the slightest trust between them. He needed to if he wanted to survive and not be put through hellish experiments. "I know only one thing for sure. It can not be extracted from me and would prove useless for anyone else, as it would, for a lack of a better term, die out without being bonded to me." With uncertainty of how much he should reveal he tried to make Brain see the usefulness in keeping him around. If he felt that Micah could be a good subordinate than maybe he could survive long enough to master his powers and escape. This was the only plan he could come up with in this stressful situation.

Micah wanted to deter Brain from experimenting on him, or with him as much as possible without also telling a lie and not revealing Blue's existence. A few days ago, he was a nobody and today he was being interrogated by what he assumed to be an impressively powerful mage. He was puzzled by the simple fact that he hadn't broken down in despair yet. No tears were falling and he had assumed they would just out of pure fear and panic.

"Cobra, you can come out." Brain said and another young man walked out from the shadows of the corner.

"If you had lied, I would have known. Except for your powers, you hold no interest to me. Angel, take him to his cell. I'll figure out what to do with him another day." Brain could incorporate him into his group, but he feared Micah was too old. His other members were recruited and brain-washed by him when they were very young. Plus, he actually couldn't infiltrate the boy's mind. His own mind had taken a hit when he tried.

"Shouldn't we just kill him?" Cobra asked with a slight sadistic chuckled.

"No, in the future he might be of use. Look at every angle, I taught you this, Cobra. I will have to study that boy closer and at length another day. Currently, we have too much on our plate, and the mission is fast approaching, we can't let one mysterious boy take us off-course." Brain said as he wrote something down on his clipboard. Cobra didn't bother arguing with him, he also felt no particular interest in the boy, the world was filled with weird things, they couldn't deter from their plans every time they ran into something strange.

End

So, as I so gently tried to showcase here in this humble chapter. Micah is just starting to comprehend what abilities/traits he possesses. He hasn't just suddenly become a super-intelligent mastermind. He will develop a lot and his naive side will fade with time, but as stated, it's a gradual process and will take a little bit of time.
