Endings and Beginnings

Since he knew it was possible Fenris had waited for this day for five years, in the middle of the night Merlins grimoire told him that his magic was ready to be awakened. For the rest of the night, Fenris wasn't able to sleep instead he repeated the names of charms he would one day cast. When morning came to Fenris inhaled his breakfast which was smaller than the other meals thanks to his druidic bloodline he could use sunlight to slow down his metabolism. When he was done he searched for Zoe to find her on the other side of the cafeteria cheeks inflated like a chipmunk. When she saw him looking at her cheeks turned red as she swallowed her food.

Fenris chuckled at her antics with other people she was brash and would kill a person if they judged or looked at her the wrong way. With him, she blushed whenever he gave her compliments she would blush and become as quiet as a field mouse. Just as Zoe finished her meal the nun brought them outside, not waiting for each other they both made their usual spot. In the middle of the field, there was a giant oak tree that Zoe and Fenris claimed as theirs, walking over to Zoe he saw that she was holding the grimoire under on arm. " Can you believe it today we'll finally have our own magic " Zoe shouted in glee as she hurridly opened the book, " That is the goal of today lady Zoe, now if you want to get started please place me on the ground"

Jumping to follow it orders Zoe hurriedly placed the open book on the ground, clearing its nonexistent throat the book began to instruct Fenris and Zoe. One they were seated with their legs crossed the grimoire told them to close there eyes and imagine a ball of energy in the middle of their chest, Fenris sat there for at least thirty minutes before he saw a small green orb with sliver veins running across its surface. It was no bigger than a marble but Fenris felt the energy coming off of it. At that exact same moment, Zoe also saw her magic core, her core was a bloodred with black lightning flashing across the surface at random intervals.

Opening their eyes a huge smile split both of their faces as they felt their magic at their beck and call. " Congratulations my lord and lady Zoe the both of you are now wizards, so would you like to start your first lesson " at their enthusiastic nods the book let out a long sigh. " You both know about wandless magic and how underused it is, back in Merlins time every wizard and witch could cast spells without the use of a wand. Legilimency is the opposite of Occlumency, instead of defending the mind Legilimecy attacks it. By calling on your magic you can assault your enemy's mind. "

With a few more minutes of instruction Zoe and Fenris were engaged in a mental battle, while Fenris had gone high tech Zoe had gone full fantasy. She had knights and dragons clad in mithril armor, elven archers, and orc berserkers, the battle was so intense that Fenris had to call in on his giant mutants who he dropped in the middle of the battlefield using his drakes. When Fenris thought he had gained the upper hand Zoe called on her own trump card, the ground started to bulge in multiple places. In an instant, giant worms had wrapped themselves around his mutants making them fall to the ground crush people on both sides. In the end Merlins, grimoire called an end to the fight as both of them had almost depleted their magical reserves.

The next day got a little dark as Zoe and Fenris used their magic to toy with the memories of the nuns and other children. In a year they mastered both schools of mental magic and could erase and implant memories with surgeon-like precision. Over there years at the orphanage the two of them had planned what they would do in their new life, eventually, they created a plan that would lead them to the top of the world. When they turned seven in the morning they systematically moved throughout the orphanage and erased everyone's memory of them. With only the clothes on their backs, Fenris and Zoe were standing under the giant oak both with a worried look in their eyes. " You don't have to this " Zoe franticly whispered looking at the floating grimoire, the orphanage was in America thousands of miles away from where they need to be. After hearing their problem Merlins grimoire offered to teleport them there, it would be perfect except one thing. The spell would drain the grimoire of all it's remaining energy, instead of answering her question the grimoire dimmed in brightness " It had been an honor serving you both " those were the last words said by the book before a flash of light and the three of them disappeared from view.

On the other side of the world, in an alleyway next to a certain pub, a flash of blue light came from the darkness. Fenris and Zoe watched with great sadness as the grimoire dissolved into small motes of light which fell to the ground like snow. The grimoire had existed for who knows how long magic was the only thing keeping it together, their silence was broken when two large motes of blue light slammed into them before sinking into their skin. In both Zoes's and Fenris's vision, a translucent book appeared with two options, Shop, Missions. The bastard had given them a system, the duo smiled with tears in the corner of their eyes, wiping away his tears Fenris moved over to Zoe and tapped on her shoulder, " Come on we have to go " standing up Zoe wiped away her own tears before moving out of the alleyway beside Fenris. The both of them looked at the sign hanging above the door ' The Leaky Cauldron ' breathing in they opened the door.
