Chapter 325 - Struggle Beneath the Surface
Talon and his group had been digging into the earth for several days.
It wasn't because the water source was too deep, but simply because their tools were rudimentary, far from ideal for such a demanding task.
They worked in teams of a dozen men, taking turns to relieve one another.
"Ah, this is exhausting," one of them groaned. "How much longer are we going to be at this? These tools are a pain to work with. We shouldn't be spending this much time on this."
John, who had just finished overseeing the construction of the water reservoir, had joined the digging efforts.
Despite being new to the task, but he kept his focus on the job at hand.
"Why do you keep complaining?" John asked, "Do you really think the work will get done faster if all you do is whine about it?"
The man turned to John, "hey, you've only just joined us today. You have no idea. I've been digging since the very beginning. You don't know how tired we are."
