Syvarin's Inheritance

"Syvarin Ven'mir?" The white snake looked at Adam suspiciously. "He was the most powerful Magus from the material world who had signed a contract with this plane. You're saying you received his inheritance?"

"I dare not lie, my lord," replied Adam, still bowing. "I came across his inheritance on my way to a magic academy in my home planet several years ago. Thanks to that, I was able to deepen my arcane knowledge and learn many spells."

"Hmm." The snake leaned its head back, deeply gazing at Adam. "Syvarin is many things, but magnanimous isn't one of them. I find it difficult to believe that he would share his knowledge and techniques."

Adam was at a loss for words. Just when he was about to come up with another excuse, he heard the snake say, "But perhaps that changed when he realized death was imminent. He should have bequeathed his legacy right before he died.
