First Threat

"Alright, we arrived!" Clara announced. The doors grinded open, revealing a large field of wheat and grass, a wave of nostalgia and despair hit Jacob the longer he looked at it.

One by one they jumped down, ready for the fught ahead. Ella already had her shield and mace ready, standing in front of the group. Jacob rested his scythe on his shoulder, frozen in place as he remembered his life here.

In the distance, a grim sight. City H with massive pillsrs of smoke rising from it, reaching abkve the clouds. He could even hear very faint sounds of explosions coming from the place.

Once everyone had landed, the ship departed, leaving them on their own.

"Our target is a communications outpost, should be close by, destroying it will harm attackers in the city." She explained. She faced the direction of the supposed site, looking at the team and giving her first order of the mission.

"Follow me" With Ella by her side, the team moved forward.

A strong feeling of worry rose in Jacob, he glanced around quickly at the wheat surrounding him.

Back then soldiers would easily hide in the field of wheat, ambushing anyone who walked near.

Half an hour had passed and yet no sign of the camp, the sun was setting over the horizon and they only had an hour or two before night came.

'Nightfall, just like any rpg, everything goes to hell when the moon comes out.' He thought. If the enemy won't kill them, the night surely will. From animals, getting lost, or ambush units picking farmers off.

The wheat reached to their chests, and Jacob was even tempted to harvest some to sell or simply bring with him.

While everyone was on edge, Ella brushed her hand on the wheat, quietly having fun as they went closer to this supposed camp.

"This place would make for a great picnic area!"

"Doubtful, dqngers in these areas is high, and we are far from any help." Zeph responded, unamused and solely focused on moving forward.

"Can we quiet down? This place is really freaking me out," Rin suddenly joined in. He was at the center of the team, tightly gripping his staff.

Nightfall slowly came as the sun descended, leavinf the team in the dark and at the msrcy of tue wheat field. Jacob's fears and worries rose, no longer able to see beyond a few steps.

While walking, the smell of ash and fire caught Jacob's attention.

"Something is burning nearby." He reported. It did not take long before the rest also noticed it.

"There is a burning city behind us, it could just be from there." Zeph responded.

"The smell is too strong to be from the city." Jacob shot back. Once done talking, the drone that followed Jacob all the way began floating upwards, and like a camera it began surveying the area around the team.

It was not long before news would come from Clara and the drone.

"Activity nearby, it seems Jacob was right," Clara reported. Upon hearing the news, everyone immediately started moving slowly, trying to hide below the tall field of wheat.

Jacob's body tensed, is this going to be his first true battle against City G? He was worried, but now excited, now having the chance to fight back against the enemy.

The smell only became stronger, and after awhile, they saw faint light nearby.

—--

Moving closer, they finally found it, the camp they were searching for. Looking closer, a shocking sight lay in front of his eyes.

Apart from a few City G soldiers, he realized that other soldiers were present. They patrolled inside the camp, with more probably inside the tents and managing radios or communications.

"Traitors" Zeph spat in disgust. From the group, Jacob noticed some soldiers who brought a shiver to his spine. Soldiers of City F, fire system users who use flames in all aspects of life.

'This is bad…' He thought. All he knew of dealing with these people was running away, nothing else.

"What do we do now? There's like fifteen of them and five of us," Ella asked. Clara continued looking on, tapping hastily into her tablet before looking back up.

"Ella, Zeph, attack the gunners. I will take down the fire users," She paused for a moment, realizing a flaw in her plan.

"We need a distraction, one to confuse and seperate the team.

Looking around, Jacob thought up an idea. He quietly snapped his fingers, showing the screen once more.

"I have an idea, a little thing we farmers do to scare things off," A wide smile grew on Jacob's face. He saw his energy and harvest skill, tapping on it he began harvesting a few bundles of wheat.

"Jacob now is not the time to farm, we're in a mission," Ella whispered in an annoyed and hasty tone, afraid that they may get spotted.

"I will force the City F soldiers to burn the wheat and throw it at the tents" He explained, Clara and the others quickly understood what he wanted to do.

"An interesting approach, very well, we will attack once you begin." With Clara's approval, Jacob began harvesting more wheat, carrying more bundles until he had enough for his plan.

Under the cover of the wheat, he moved closer to the camp, a mix of nervousness and adrenaline followed him as he clutched onto the bundles of wheat.

Above him, the drone that followed Jacob began to hover upwards, enough to see the entire camp.

"I want to burn a farmer right now," One of the City F guards complained, walking around the camp in a tired manner. His hands glowed red, itching for a fight.

"Quiet, you arsonists always want to burn something, why did we even let your kind join us." Another guard replied. Along with a few more soldiers, they patrolled around the area, searching for a sign of anything.

Jacob waited patiently for more soldiers to leave the area, hoping to catch the man on his own, but to his dissapointment, he continued following a small unit of guards around.

With no other option, Jacob prepared the bundles of wheat, once the group of guards returned, he will gain their attention and pray a City F guard hits him first.

'Here goes nothing' Once the group returned and got close enough, Jacob prepared the bundles of wheat. Looking at the City F soldier specifically.
