Deployment

"Alright, eyes up team." Clara's voice echoed through the ship, loud and clear for all to hear. Jacob and the others slowly woke up from their seats as Clara stood in front of them, surrounded by purple screens of different sizes.

It had been a day, and the team was heading to their mission. Ella and Rin both stretched their arms wide while Zeph spent his time reading from a tablet he got from the library of City I.

Jacob could recall what they did the day before, eating and preparing for their next mission,

Jacob snapped his fingers, checking his stats and preparing his weapon. While waiting around for Clara to begin talking, he noticed that there was another passenger on the ship. It was Allen.

He walked towards Clara, whispering something to her before looking down at a tablet in his hand.

"We are nearing the first objective," She spoke, enlarging one of the screens and showing it in front of them, a picture of a larger camp outside City H.

"This one is an armory, it holds far more enemies and weapons, but it should be easier since reinforcements and communications are not strong at the moment due to our efforts," She smiled at the team, proud of that little fact.

"Your orders are to kill the traitors and City G soldiers inside, and destroy any communication equipment left there," She ordered. After speaking, Allen cleared his throat, as if signalling something to Clara, to which she quickly realized.

"Oh right, spare any weapons until i give the order to destroy them, as City I wishes to gain more information on what City G is planning now." Allen stepped forward, ready to say something once Clara finished.

"Lastly, if possible, find any metal scraps they may have, could for repairs or anything else. City G metal is rather strong, find it and you may get a big paycheck for it," He glanced at Jacob.

"And an upgrade to Jacob's weapon," Once done, he walked away, looking at his tablet.

Above the team was a drone, staring down at them and waiting for the ship to land so it can film their next battle.

—--

The ship came to a stop and began dewcending down, this was it Jacob felt excitement and fear. They stood up from their seats, walking to Clara near the exit of the ship.

Eager and ready for the mission, they all prepared their weapons. Rin stood behind all of them, gritting his teeth and trying to stay brave.

In a minute, the doors slowly opened, and Jacob could see the familiar sight of wheat. One by one they jumled down, and the ship began to take off once the last member got off.

Once the last of the team got off, the ship closed its doors and flew away, leaving the team to finish their mission.

"The camp is nearby, our plan for now is to gether any recent info and see if they have anything that Allen or the researchers may want," Clara explained, looking around while holdimg her bow.

"The first target is 30 minutes away, let's go," With their weapons up, they began their move.

In the distance, Jacob could see City H, almost obscured by the large amount of smoke. He noticed it looked more damaged than the last time, its walls crumbling and visibly falling as he watched.

The smell of smoke still reached him, along with the faint noise of explosions from the battle.

'They're still fighting? Thought it fell by now,' Jacob thought. The sight made him feel a sense of pride and hope, knowing that his home still fights back, even after the majority of forces had left.

Minutes passed, feeling more and more eager to fight more City G soldiers. His team was silent the entire time.

Ella played on her phone while Rin and Zeph kept reading from a tablet. While watching them, a question entered his mind.

'Wonder if that glitch has something for me now?'

With a snap, the screen appeared in front of him.

[Alright, another mission!] The box appeared quick, as if the glitch was waiting for the system to be activated again.

"Have any tasks for this one?" Jacob asked, it took a few seconds for the glitch to respond.

[Well, i did say i would offer some. I will start with a basic one first!] The box dissapeared. In a moment, a new tab appeared above the screen

[Kill 20 soldiers and rip a City P defender's ability: 0/20, 0/1]

"Two this time?" Jacob asked.

[Well one was easy, so i wanna see my friend struggle a little, i'm sure you can do it!] The box disappeared again, this time for good.

'I should tell Clara about that,'

He walked towards Clara, to bring the news of what just happened.

"Clara, the sys-"

"It gave a new objective? Yes, i saw it through the drone," Before he could even fully explain, Clara spoke up.

Behind him, Jacob realized that the drine was hovering close behind to where he was once walking.

"The researchers will note it down, it seems to have a full hold on your task giver. Not even City H could break it," She continued.

"But we will accomplish that task in this mission, don't worry," Once she was done talking, the walk returned to silence.

—-

They had walked endlessly for more minutes, with boredom and some fatigue taking a toll on them.

Clara suddenly raised her hand, ordering them to stop.

"We have arrived," She spoke in a whispering tone.

Just beyond the tall wheat, the camp stood, larger and more well defended than the last one.

A metal wall surrounded the camp with the only entrance being a closed gate, making entry impossible unless they break through.

The team crouched behind some tall wheat, still able to see the imposing camp. Clara activated her system, summoning more screens to form up a plan.

"It seems they learned quick from our last attack," Zeph remarked.

"Don't worry, we will knock it down like the last one," Ella added.
