"Du?... Chosen?..Space?", Chou Lian muttered while tracing the letters engraved on the glass with gold.
Suddenly a realization hit her as her eyes widened with surprise as she exclaimed, "Du? Mother..? Isn't it mother's family name? Is it possible this place belongs to mother's family?"
Not having any definite answer to her question Chou Lian shook her head cause how can one explain this. She pushed the glass door which parted easily to let her in. From the entrance she could she the sunlight entering through glass was lighting up what seemed like a living room. Instead of having furnitures and artifacts the living room was full of shelves lining vertically, which made Chou Lian chuckle thinking if she pushes the front shelf it would cause the ones behind to fall like dominos. Those shelves were all seemed to made of crystal. As she walked to the shelves she could see the shelves of books.
'Am I dreaming?!', Chou Lian thought as she pinched herself. Chou Lian was quite amazed and fascinated as it was her first time ever seeing books. This is because by the year 3000 there was no longer need for any books as everything was stored and written electronically as it made less use of the limited resources. Also with catastrophes and so many fights going on it was no longer possible to preserve those books, only the most aristocratic of the society had the privilege of owning a few preserved books. Chou Lian being trained to fight for the nation had no scope to come across any such books.
She remembered that once her close subordinate told her that books have this distinct smell which people, who loved to read books in the past, loved dearly. Chou Lian touched those books which seemed completely new though who knows for how long they have been sitting in these shelves for. She got one out to feel the weight. This feeling of holding something that was almost extinct in her past life it felt so surreal. Ever since she died and got a new shot at life she has been experiencing a lot of 'firsts' in her life, and it is so exhilarating. Who knows how many more new experiences she is going enjoy in this new life.
After looking through all those shelves she discovered they were all filled with medical books, and a few agricultural books and cooking books. Chou Lian found it not too surprising as she has heard from her grandfather how obsessed her mother's family was with medicine and medical related stuffs, and almost all of the 'Du' family members had the ambition to become a doctor, just like her mother, or always researching medicine and all.
As she went deeper into the house she found two rooms. One door was wooden and was simply designed, like everyday door one would find in a western household, with a shining silver knob. The other door was made crystal as it it reflected a pale rainbow glow as if trying to show off how beautifully crafted it was. There was no door knob though. In the middle of the door , in fine letters, it was written, "Keep your hand on the door and let it connect to the door of your soul our precious descendant."
The words "our precious descendant" made Chou Lian feel quite uncomfortable. No one has ever called her precious and she wasn't even sure if she really was the descendant this place was left for. This was giving her a headache, like not really, cause the environment was beautiful with the freshest air she has ever inhaled, even Shuang Kingdom's air pales in comparison. But with all this family and descendant thing it was quite unbelievable. Out of nowhere a family that didn't even care for her when she was alive left her to find a place, this gorgeous, after her death. Was her dying so amusing that the God finally had mercy on her?
Whatever, she stood in front of the door and gently kept her hand on the door. Abruptly, a gush of waves of spiritual energy rushed towards her as if was going to engulf her up as the whole space started to shake violently. As she closed her eyes against that force she felt all sound around her subsiding, and as if a part within her soul got touched so gently and uncovered a feeling she had never experienced before. Then when she slowly opened her eyes the crystal door opens by itself as if welcoming her inside. The space seemed just like it was before the violent shaking.
As she entered the room she found a large spacious room that seemed to build out of crystal. The temperature was cold but Chou Lian wasn't affected by it. It seemed like a medical lab with lots of equipments scattered around the room in a good manner. There were several cupboards made of glass each holding little bottles of tablets and liquid medicine. There seemed to be a laser scanner near it to identify which medicine was for which purpose. At first glance, the room might not seem special but the era where Chou Lian was residing this medicines can be regarded as treasure for her. After dying once getting all this medicines was like such a life saver in such times. Chou Lian felt elated as she moved around the room touching all those technologically advanced medical equipments.
After she fulfilled her curiosity she came out of the crystal room and the door gently closed behind her. She then walked towards the wooden door and turned the knob to go inside. It was an ordinary room with a bed and there was study table present where a lot of what seemed like journal were present. But Chou Lian knowing she didn't have much time as someone from the Shen family can try to find her to give her more trouble. As soon as she thought about leaving the space, with a lightening speed, she found her self back at the ancestral hall kneeling on a washboard. However, Chou Lian found her self not tired at all! She felt so refreshed as she stretched her arms.
To be honest, she was 90% sure that the space was from her mother's, Du Shi Mian's, family. But she found it a little hypocritical that she could access such a treasure after she died once, that too in a completely different era! Then when she was struggling so much and died such an untimely death, where was this thing called 'space'? Was back then she not the 'chosen' one? How come she is now?
As she was in her deep thoughts she heard a servant clearing her voice, "Eldest lady, prime minister said now you can go to your room and that you have learned your lesson."
Chou Lian nodded at her without any emotions and slowly stood up unstably to put front an act. She then small steps and stopped a few times on her way to knead her knees, as if her knees were giving in, and she could not walk anymore. As soon as she reached her courtyard the servant behind left leaving her on her own. When Chou Lian found herself alone and upon checking the surrounding found no one near her. She stopped her act and strode to her room leisurely. She changed into her sleeping attire, ate the dinner arranged beforehand for her, which consisted of simple congee and buns like usual, and then she went to sleep.
At this time, under the moonlight, a grand ceremony could be observed. A person sitting in an octagonal shaped diagram had his eyes closed while he kept making a lot of hand seals in a fast pace. He was in a pure white robe which seemed to glorify that persons's lush pink skin. There a was bowl made of jade kept in front of him which had blood in it. Suddenly the place started to shook as purple light gushed out from each end of the octagonal line. The man seemed calm as he kept chanting some sutras while the pace of making hand seals got faster.
The blood in the jade bowl instead of falling out owing to the place shaking so violently it turned into a circular shape and started to float outside the bowl. At soon as the blood shot out of the bowl in that circular shape, the man in white robe opened his eyes, and shot after the blood. The blood floated in a lightening speed with the man after it.
The man found himself in a small courtyard following the blood and it seemed like a woman's courtyard. Strange. He frowned a little. But than saw the little naughty ball of blood entering a room. He stood on the room's rooftop and took out a few tiles to peak inside. He found the ball of blood rubbing it self loving against a sleeping woman's heart. He was a little dumbfounded. He felt of the ball of blood was a cat it would be purring out of satisfaction now. He has finally found the person he has been looking for till now, and he would have been really satisfied with this result, if it weren't the fact that the one it was behaving like this was a lady!!
What was this situation now?! He really didn't sign up for this! How was he to answer the King now?!
