Chapter 14

"Really then I will get my phone first to make a list."

Running towards the guest room he is staying at, Soji finds his phone in the bag that his mother uses to bring a spare to clothing when he is rummaging on it earlier together with the charger.

After getting the phone he quickly runs back to the kitchen and continues his talk with Aki.

"So can you tell me them now?"

Kinda overwhelmed by his excitement and still remembering their conversation she said. "Well, you still didn't tell me anything about your ideal player?"

Noticing his mistake he replied. "Oh sorry about that I was just too excited and forgot about that."

"No5x It's okay, I'm kind of like that when I am excited. So what is your ideal?"

Thinking about it for a minute he replied. "Well I came to know tennis by playing it with my mom on our play days, and when I played it for real I wanted my opponents to feel what I feel that day."

"What did you feel that day?" Asks Aki as she is curious about his next words.

"I feel the difference in physical ability, as even though I try really hard to beat her and put all the power my small body could make, she still could return and go to my shot with ease."

"So I always train my body whenever I cannot play, so now that I think about it my ideal is someone who can move their way all over the court."

"I see then how about trying to become an all-court player?"

Not knowing that term he asks. "So what is that?"

"It is someone that can do all type of playing style and techniques skillfully. But I have to remind you that you cannot master all types of things so if you are struggling with it then just stick with what you playing style you do best."

"Also you need to have a strong body to do this since it is really physically taxing. For now how about trying to be an Offensive baseliner?"

Confused by that term Soji ask. "Offensive baseliner? What is that?"

"They are the type of player who dictates the game with powerful groundstrokes for winners usually from the baseline area or behind it. They tend to aim down the line and corners but beware of errors."

"So who do you recommend?"

"There is a lot of offensive baseliners but most of the things I watch are female tennis so you have to search for the male ones."

"That is pretty understandable as you are a female yourself," Soji said while nodding.

"Okay, then I have some recordings base on them so how about we watch som after dinner? And I will also just tell you more about it at that time?"

Seeing that the stew is almost finished and they just have to wait for Uchika to finish bathing Soji complied.

They then eat after Uchika arrives.

After eating the food they gather around the T.V. to watch some a player that Aki recommends.

"The one I will be playing in here is a player called Steffi Graf. She is the holder of the no.1 title for a total of 377 weeks and the only person to do a golden slam."

"We will watch the games when she is still in her prime to try and learn from her playing style."

Listening to that Soji decided to concentrate on the match showing on the T.V. with Steffi Graf vs Gabriela Sabatini 1991 Wimbledon.

Maybe because he is raised by a designer and an editor who is very fussy about every little detail Soji learns so much just by watching one match.

Before going to bed he is reminded to watch shot highlights to try and burn the forms to his mind.

Since he lost because of Aki's drop and lob shot where he couldn't even react.

Because he knows himself too well he sets up an Alarm for 10:00 pm to have sufficient sleep for tomorrow's practice.
