Chapter 1|The coffee shop

"Shoot. Shoot. Shoot!" Anais muttered under her breath. "Excuse me!" Books cupped in one hand and coffee in the other, she ran as fast as she could. She was late for her morning history class. What kind of person teaches history early in the morning? She thought.

She checked her watch again to see how many minutes was left then she fell to the ground. She looked up and was about to scream at the person when she saw him. Her coffee was now empty because it was all over the shirt on the man in front of her. He offered his hand and she took.

"Why'd you help me?"

"I think you mean 'thank you'." He said warmly and smiled.

"Ah," she looked at his shirt, "I'm so sorry about that. I can wash it for you."

"Oh this?" He looked down at his shirt, "don't worry about it. But your coffee, come, I'll buy you a new cup."

"Oh no, that's alright!"

"Well you're late already, what's the point in hurrying?" Anais thought that he had a point. There really is no more point in hurrying. Besides, she hated her morning history classes. She followed him to the University Cafe.

When they entered the University Cafe, they were embraced by the smell of freshly brewed coffee. The man got her order and told her to get a seat while he buys their drinks.

"Here you go."

"Thank you. Again, I'm really sorry."

"Don't sweat it," he said as he took a sip from his cup, "so, miss..."

"Anais." She said finishing his sentence. "Anais Cooper."

"Jesse Cochran."

"I know." He raised an eyebrow at her statement. "The basketball captain." She said, clearing his confusion.

"What do you study, Anais?"

"Fashion Designing."

"Ah," he said then nodded, "well, I think you already know what I take."

"Actually, I don't."

"Really? How can anyone miss anything about this handsome face?" He joked.

"As if!" She chuckled.

"Come on, you really don't know?"

"Hmm...visual arts?" He shook his head. "drama?"

"Nope."

"Photography?"

"Nah."

"Something with designing?"

"No."

"Come on, give me something."

"My voice kinda gives it away already."

"I still don't..."

"I know I can treat you better..." Jesse sang softly.

"OH!" She gasped. "You're musical hottie?!" She said out loud.

"I didn't say hot but sure." He chuckled at her exclamation.

"You're the one Evelyn's been talking about non-stop."

"Evelyn? Evelyn Parker, the chatty one?"

"Yeah," she chuckled, "she's my roommate."

"Well, I don't want to keep you for long."

"Right. Nice meeting you!"

"Likewise, see you around."

They exchanged smiles and went opposite ways.

"I played it cool because I finally had the chance to talk to my crush. I couldn't contain my happiness. You made my day without even knowing it."
