"Kee-eee-arr!"
Goldie's birdcall pierces into the air, causing the once bustling environment to come to a complete standstill as everyone looks in the direction of the sudden unique sound.
Instantly, Goldie claps a hand over her mouth, her eyes widening in shock.
'What- What was that?!', she questions within herself in shock.
'Did I just?...'
'gasp!', Goldie gasps behind her cupped lips as the horrifying realisation hits her.
She had just screeched in birdcall!
'Oh no!'
…
She turns her head slowly and stiffly, ridden with dread to look about her, and finds everyone's gaze fixated on her.
Her shocking, unexpected birdcall… they had heard it!
EVERYONE had heard it!
She could tell from how they were all frozen in their tracks, with thoroughly shocked expressions on their faces as they fixed their questioning gazes on her, wondering if they had just heard right!
Everyone was staring!
'No…No… No….', Goldie muses within herself, with growing terror.
The worst thing ever was happening. In the periphery, she could hear someone whisper…
"Did that girl just screech like an eagle?!..."
And worse… she suddenly remembers something.
'Ryan!'
He was standing right there…
She darts her face to look back at Ryan, in whose grasp she had remained, and the moment her eyes hit his face, lowered just above hers, her heart falls.
He was staring back at her in shock, stunned beyond belief.
'Oh no!'
Goldie panics, horrified.
She could tell from Ryan's face. He had heard it too!
Oh but… How could he not have heard it when came out right in his face?!
He seemed frozen in shock; all his movements paused.
'Did she just?…'
Ryan questions in wonder, his eyes widening in shock.
Ryan, of course, had heard the birdcall. He had heard the unearthly beauty in his arms screech out loud like a bird all of a sudden.
The shocking sound had even echoed all around, loud and clear, to the hearing of several witnesses who were now whispering about it.
It was undeniable.
'No… No…No… NO!'
Goldie instantly wishes for the ground to open up and swallow her whole.
Reading Ryan's expression, she could tell exactly what is going on in his mind. In everyone's minds too.
She had thoroughly embarrassed herself in front of the school, and in front of the one person that mattered the most!
This was the worst thing that could ever happen.
Goldie wished to disappear. And since the ground would not open up and swallow her whole, there is only one cause of action left for her…
'Run!'
Right before anyone can even react, Goldie instantly frees herself of Ryan's grip, dashing off as quick as her legs can carry her, up the stairs and towards the entryway to the main school building.
She had to get away instantly! Her life depended on it!
Ryan, suddenly freed of his unearthly beauty stares confused as she dashes off, running with the wind.
'Wait…', his mind calls back at her, with his hand a little outstretched in the direction of her departing backside.
'I don't even know your name…', he muses, suddenly scared to lose her forever as he had not a clue who she was.
Indeed, Goldie was the school damsel and a proud member of Hugher High's cheerleading team, but since Ryan had only transferred into Hugher High towards the end of the semester last year, and dear, little Goldie was always in hiding whenever she saw him, and this was only the beginning of the new semester, Ryan had never seen Goldie face to face before.
Heck, even though they were in the same year, the prestigious school had a vast number of students, and Ryan happened to be in a different class from Goldie, Jasmine and Leroy last semester.
Again, even though the cheerleaders, led by Jasmine, were famous; the "Golden girls" of Hugher High, Ryan, who had very little interest in girls in general, badly concerned himself with their existence as he just focused on settling into Hugher High as an ace student, and also a top class athlete, as he proved himself in the closing games of last semester.
His fame had now spilt into the new semester, with him not necessarily wanting attention, but getting a good dose of it.
Long story short, Ryan did not know Goldie and hadn't even a clue of how to find her if he lost her as he wouldn't know where to start looking.
As far as he was concerned, she could be from any of the grades with tons of students.
And of course, he could not possibly find her, if he cared to, without a name. But before he could even think, the strange beauty was escaping from him and dashing up the stairs the fastest she could.
He didn't blame her though. That sound…
'What exactly was that?...', he wonders, puzzled.
…
Just then…
"Hey! Goldie! Wait up…"
Jasmine calls back at her friend, grabbing Goldie's lunch pack which had fallen off of her when she was falling to her death on the stone stairs, before running up the stairs after her.
'Goldie… so, that's her name.', reasons Ryan, taking note of the "bird girl's" name.
'Hm… how strange she was…'
___
"Goldie!…", Jasmine calls on Goldie again, travelling up the stairs after her.
'What was that about just now? Screeching like a bird? Right in front of Ryan?!...', she reasons, equally puzzled.
Her friend, Goldie was such a disaster. She had to check on her.
But Goldie would not slow down for one second as she flies up the stone stairs without caution, and to the front doors of the main school building in a flash.
Arriving swiftly at the top of the stairs, Goldie darts by Leroy, who had been standing right at the doorway, butting him away in her haste to get away.
Coming out to find Ryan a few minutes earlier, Leroy had arrived at the main entrance to suddenly see his classmate and the school damsel, Goldie, affectionately embraced in the arms of his best friend, Ryan.
The rarest scene ever!
Ryan! Was holding a girl!!
Pleasantly surprised, he had watched the entire romantic scene with his best friend, Ryan, and the school damsel, Goldie, play out until the highlight… the sudden birdcall!
As if the early morning romance was not enough drama for the morning, Goldie screeched! Like a bird!
And now, she was butting him away with the strength of an ox in her wild escape, causing him to nearly dash his beautiful face into the solid doors on the side.
'Scary!...', he reasons, looking after the dangerous girl as she disappears from his sight.
Girls were rather confusing. Screeching like a bird, all of a sudden and running off dangerously through the halls…
'What was that about?', he wonders.
Next, he sees pretty Jasmine coming up the last of the stairs, right after Goldie, with everyone around, watching confused as the entire scene unfolds.
"Hi, Leroy."
Jasmine stops briefly once at the doorway, to greet Leroy coyly with a shy, girlie smile and a hair flip.
"Hi…", responds Leroy in a low tone, with a flirty smile, raising a hand as he appreciates her beauty for not long enough, before she darts off, continuing her gallant, yet elegant and girly chase after her friend, Goldie.
…
"Goldie! Wait up!"
Jasmine calls.
Goldie can hear her calling from behind her.
'No. I can't… I can't stop!', she reasons, fleeing in a desperate panic through the crowded halls to make her escape.
How could she stop? How could she explain that just now?... Screeching like a bird in front of everyone…
Her life was over!
