civilization

I was never as smart as I am now, I learned with the times and for hundreds and thousands of years I slowly became the most knowledgeable hunter, trapper, herbalist, spear shaper, tracker and whatever was offered as a valuable thing to know and to do, it made it easy for me to integrate myself into random tribes of my fellow people who didn't immediately take to trying to kill and cannibalize me, I had fun being apart of the tribes until they died off through disease which I could not defeat with my perfect mixture of herbs and mushrooms, starvation which I could find no animal at all even when we moved after the herds or defend them from dying at the hands of other tribes greedy or envious enough to slaughter. Though after becoming close with people and falling in love so many times I became jaded from the heartbreak and stop interacting with people all together, that time could of been for however long as no one, not even me at the time took count of the days, weeks, years or centuries but throughout that time I became more skillful in everything I could at that time, becoming methodical in even the smallest of details out of a strange sense of fun and entertainment, but that all changed when one day I found myself on the outskirts of the beginning of what people called river valley civilizations, greatly intrigued by there use of agriculture, social structures and various other burgeoning advancements I walked myself to the center of their "city" and after a bit of a struggle because of their differences in language which has moved past the grunts and turned into a crude beginning of a language they welcomed me into their society and got me to work immediately on helping them farm, and farm i did for many years, time flying by as the settlement of mankind became a true city, throughout those years though people became my friends, lovers and family, there was a time I became the topic of great debate as my immortality was obvious as the generations got older but I stayed the same. They wanted to kick me out but I had enough people on my side to sway everyone else to keep me, plus it did help that I brought in plenty of food and did plenty of farm work which I learned many years later allowed the city to progress and advanced faster than all others. A few years after the debate on keeping me or not a few of the people of the city started to idolize me, at first I thought they wanted to be my lovers and yes most did but this was different, they saw me something of a spirit but not as I was in the mortal plane, affecting things in there life more directly, so they eventually recognize the idea of such a thing as a god and granted me that title, they called me the God of the harvest, of love, friendship, the hearth and many other things and there rudimentary worship of me spread fast amongst the people of the city until all nearly daily came to me with small offerings and prayers. Eventually it went on for such a time that the government of the city which was ran by a spirit appointed king was overthrown by the people who wanted their God to lead the nation into the future and seeing I mean't so much to the city who I now consider my people, I ascended, up to the newly made throne room building which stood higher than every other building and sat upon the throne they made for me, becoming a godking for them, to worship and be lead by. Temples and groves devoted to me began to spring up throughout the city as it grew year by year under my now long since wise mind, being a god king was a bit tricky at times as other cities would show up and challenge me and my city, trying to conquer us, subjugate or enslave us all, but each time either with trickery, warfare, or diplomacy, I slew my enemies and continued to rule my city which now spread to the point that I had smaller settlements and cities willingly bending the knee to me, devoting worship and allegiance to me and helping me become the first emperor in all of human history, but this was not to last forever as hordes of savage men came, starved and mad they swarmed at my legions, my walls, and my arrows, not ever fearing death. There is not much you can do against a foe like that except completely exterminate them but they destroyed the farms and mines, and unlike me, my legions needed both to continue fighting and defending, so there was nothing I could do but brutally fight until the end as I watched my empire and people get slaughtered and torn apart by a horde of untamed and uncivilized humanity, leaving me to weep over the ashes of the legacy I built destroyed and the people I sworn to protect burnt to ashes. After that day I always looked at the office of leadership with a more cynical perspective and became more hesitant to take up mantles of great leadership, but throughout my storied life there were times I did take up that mantle again to be burnt by it's responsibility.
