OUT OF THE CITY

Shortly after, the Mussel Mobile began to move again.

Flint already figured out that Black knew something she wasn't telling anybody, from the pretending nothing happened back at the brawl, to bringing her up here to be close to Ulanni and Sarah…n

When the Mobile had started moving again Ulanni had brought her concentration back to the window to keep skimming at the scenery.

It was a busy city. There were people both aging and young wandering around, either walking or there were in another class of mobile that she had seen in books.

There were mainly Karate Mobils everywhere as the Karate Mobil could be readily afforded by the commoners.

The Karate Mobile had a simple component, it was as spheroidal as an egg with the upper part of it in glass and the inside consisted of two sits excluding that of the driver which, was Infront of the passenger's seats.

The Karate Mobile didn't have tires like the Mussel Mobile, it drove around by gliding, and it had a circular blue energy coming out from beneath it which thrust the Mobile upwards.

There were regulators inside the driver's cockpit which let the blue-powered energy be manipulated.

The Karate Mobile we're manufactured in diverse colors, and they were all produced by the same organization. The signature blue feather could be seen on the flank of each mobile.

Also, the Mussel Mobile was invented by the same organization. Since they had known how to read they have always been taught that the family of Blue was the largest producer of Mobiles and also one of the richest clans in the world.

For Ulanni glimpsing people with diverse clothes that were not the same waned brown clothes they were made to wear back at the compound was indulging.

She spotted some others amongst those moving around on the roads dressed in different power suits comparable to what Black had been putting on when they left the compound.

People of various physiques and sizes, some plump, some short, some slender and tall, Ulanni had never seen such diversity before, the only plump person she had seen was Mother.

But now seeing other plump people she didn't think they were that vicious, some of them looked cute in their suits.

"Mabey my hatred for fat people steamed from how cruel Mother had always treated us. Ulanni mused.

There were shades everywhere which came as the result of the towering structures which looked to be everywhere.

Towering facilities occupied almost half the space of this city, which made the whole area a bit crowdy and that was also the reason why the Mussel Mobile was moving slowly on the runway.

Sarah just kept gaping at the over-excited Ulanni who had her eyes wide open and her face up against the window, as though she didn't want to miss anything.

These types of structures weren't new to Sarah, as she was not born in the compound. She had had a life outside the compound before she had been conveyed here.

Sarah twisted back to look at Flint to find her already gazing at her. Sarah lowered her gaze and clenched her hands, looking back up to hold Flint's stare, she softly muttered a word of apology to her.

"Am sorry…" Sarah said as she wriggled her hands in her lap.

Flint kept staring at her "What happened back at the compound?.." Flint questioned instead.

"I don't know…"Sarah said. "I was just angry…and…I don't know Flint, am also sorry for my demeanor towards you these past few days."

Flint stood up from her seat and walked some steps forward to sit on the vacant chair in front of Sarah.

Tilting to the side she faced Sarah properly. "You shouldn't lie, Sarah, you could have just told me you were not ready to share…" Flint chided.

Sarah looked up sharply and stared at Flint "How…"

"Let me just say we all have secrets of our own," Flint said throwing a small smile her way. "And I am also sorry, could we start over again?" Flint asked with her left eyebrow slightly raised.

"This doesn't mean I now like you…this is just for Ulanni, she seems to just like you too much for my liking…" Sarah said looking pointedly at Flint.

"Okay, for Ulanni…" Flint confirmed.

"For Ulanni" Sarah repeated.

Flint extended her hand for a handshake to seal it up. Sarah stared at it for some seconds, before also moving her hand and gripping Flint's hand in a firm shake.

The two girls both smiled at each other.

"Well, this just made my day! Can you seal it up with a hug instead!" Ulanni squealed from beside Sarah.

"Nah...I think am good" Sarah replied jerking her hand out of Flint's.

"It means you have not taken Flint as your friend…you lied!" Ulanni said with her eyes turning watery.

"No...no it's not that I just don't want to yet…" Sarah tried explaining, but it seemed Ulanni was having none of it as her lips began quivering.

Sarah didn't want her to cry so she glanced back at Flint to see her smiling so brightly.

She was enjoying this, wasn't she? She quickly stood up and gave Flint a brief hug, and moved to sit back down.

"Are you happy now?" Sarah questioned turning to look at Ulanni.

"Oh am fine now,.." Ulanni said with a smile on her face, with no traces of tears in her eyes.

Realization dawned on Sarah "You weren't going to cry…" Sarah said in a dull tone "You pulled the sob card on me.."

"Well…it doesn't matter now as you and Flint are now friends right?..." Ulanni said with a silly smile on her face.

Sarah just stared at her with her mouth open… was Ulanni now becoming...?

They were brought out of their little friendship reunion when they felt the Mussel Mobile slowly picking up speed.

"What is happening?" Ulanni was the first to cry out in alarm.

"I think we are departing the city now," Flint said peering out the window.

The other children also turned to look out the window closest to them, keeping Sage's warning in mind.
