Everything You Know Is False

Alder was stunned for a few seconds by what Zemfry said. He stared at Zemfry for a few seconds, anxious to hear what Zemfry was going to tell him.

"Now, they probably told you that there are four elements, the four basic elements of nature; Air, Water, Fire and Earth. That part is true, however, they told you something else which is a lie. They said that those are the only elements in existence, a stupid lie" Zemfry said. "Those four elements are known as the primary elements, as they are the elements given to us from nature, furthermore, those elements have various subsidiary elements, for example, Fire has Lightning, Water has Ice, Earth had Metal and so on, those elements are called secondary elements"

Zemfry paused for a few seconds. He wanted to give Alder time to process what he just heard. "Furthermore, there are also other elements that have no connections to the primary and secondary elements, those elements are called tertiary elements. Those elements are very random, there is the Soul Elements like you saw Tiana use earlier, there is the Sword Element, and basically any other random element that you can come up with"

Alder took some minutes to process what Zemfry told him. After all, it was difficult to suddenly accept that everything that he had been taught since he was a child was basically the conclusion reached by a bunch of narrow minded illiterates.

Suddenly, a thought crossed Alder's mind. "I have another question though"

"Ask away" Zemfry smiled.

"I heard that a Necromancer shouldn't be very powerful. Hey cannot cast spells and they cannot improve their physiques either, so why…"

"Why am I different?" Zemfry finished Alder's question for him.

Alder smiled embarrassedly. At this moment, he realized that it was inappropriate of him to ask that question at this time.

"You see, this world is abundant with a heavenly energy called Mana. There are three groups of people who can process Mana, a Mage, a Knight, and a Necromancer"

"A Mage is blessed by nature and they are given the ability to be able to manipulate various elements and form powerful spells. A Knight is able to develop their body and are given enhanced physical attributes, while a Necromancer is able to summon and merge with spirits from the underworld"

"Now, for an ordinary Necromancer, they are unable to summon spirits and advance further in strength because they do not understand the concept of death and the underworld. Once they understand the concept to some degree, then getting stronger is just a matter of time"

"So you're strong because you understand the concept of death and the afterlife?" Alder asked.

Zemfry paused for a few moments. "I guess you could say that"

Zemfry was born to an extremely poor father, a father who absolutely did his best for his only child.

To ensure that Zemfry would awaken, his father worked several odd jobs at once to be able to afford an awakening crystal for Zemfry to awaken his abilities, however, instead of a Knight or a Mage, Zemfry became a Necromancer.

Despite his father's disappointment, he still did his best to help Zemfry learn how to use his abilities.

One night, while Zemfry was exploring in the forest, he discovered an old, tattered book called the book of summoning. Using the book, he was able to summon a Shinigami from the underworld and learn various abilities from it.

He continued training with the Shinigami for several years until one day, he went to train and found his father dead. There was a note on his corpse telling him who exactly was responsible for his death, the family that owned the notebook. After realizing that his father was killed over something so trivial, he went on a rampage and killed several villagers in the process.

After he calmed down, he realized that feeling angry was pointless. He had to get stronger and exact revenge against those who wronged him. He exiled himself to the mountain and the forest beside the village and found Tiana along the line. For the next five year, they trained together, ate together, basically they did everything together forming an unbreakable friendship.

Zemfry shook his head. He had gone and gotten lost in his thoughts. He forgot that he was in the middle of explaining something to Alder. "Now there are various stages of strength, do you know them?"

Alder smiled. Finally, a question that he was absolutely confident that he would know the answer to. "There are five known stages of strength for a Mage, Apprentice Rank, Acolyte Rank, Sorcerer Rank, Master Rank and Drake Rank while for a Knight, Apprentice Rank, Squire Rank, Commander Rank, General Rank, and Sovereign Rank. For a Necromancer, there are no known stages of strength"

Zemfry chuckled when he heard what Alder said. "You know, for someone coming from a remote village, you know quite a lot. Unfortunately, you don't know enough" Zemfry said much to Alder's shock.

He was so sure that everything he said was correct, how could he have been wrong. He looked at Zemfry expectantly, seemingly waiting for Zemfry to tell him the correct answers.

"In relation to what you said about Knights and Mages, you were right. However, there about Necromancers, you're wrong" Zemfry smiled. "There are two known stages of strength for a Necromancer, the Awakening Rank, and the Spirit Summoning Rank!"
