'I'm screwed' These were the words Regulus thought as the sharp pointy water projectiles started to fall where he stood.

/You owe me/ a telepathic message reached him. Then a dome of wind gathered around him and blocked the attack.

Dione still in the air looked at this sight and pulled a hand back before lightning gathered and took shape. The plasma spear formed quickly before it was flung forward striking one of the magic users that attacked Regulus, then exploded creating another dome but this one of death. When it cleared chard corpses were all that was left.

Then her gaze fell on the Archers who were readying magic arrows. |Tempest| muttered Dione and with a wave of the hand-lined by magic veins, a powerful gale storm rose to the air in the middle of the Archer's formation. It rampaged and ravaged the earth then lightning struck from the skies that had quickly darkened.

This ended the lives of many. Then she descends to Regulus's side. " What are you doing here?" Asked the male Hob-goblin but Diona merely huffed.

"You think too lowly of me Regulus. Plus don't you think that I also want to take revenge for my people?" asked the woman and Regulus's expression became tense. A smirk played on Dione's lips, "I know what your thinking, just because I'm a reincarnation and was a human doesn't mean I have problems killing them Regulus. You and the tribe are far more important to me than what I used to be, you're my family." The Hob-goblin, and Regulus closed his eyes and nodded. "Now let's deal with the stragglers, I can sense that your core is nearly overflowing with Mana. A few more kills and You'll be evolving," said Dione. Regulus smirked and then faced the enemy.

While the two were conversing the men from before had quickly regrouped. "Damn those monsters, I thought we took care of em all." spoke one.

"Doesn't matter men, right now we need to secure our escape." spoke the other one.

"No need, they are strong but I can get more strength." spoke the first as he pulled out the mana core from earlier.

"You're going to use it, you do know that it's dangerous to move right after doing so right?" asked the second.

"Yeah but not if I have a small portion, I have a plan." spoke the first man as he gripped the crystal tightly and it cracked before breaking into a few pieces. "I'll share this one with ya and some of our buddies, then well gang up on em." he informed.

"Are you sure?" Asked his friend.

"yeah, I mean what's the use of having this if I die right? plus I'll have two more so I see no point." spoke the first while picking up the biggest shurd of the mana core and popped it into his mouth. "distribute these to as many people as you can while I hold them off." he instructed before leaping from his cover right in time to see Regulus face him.

"Your a good man Sam." spoke the second man as he looked to see some survivors hiding. "I have to hurry." spoke the man as he popped one of the remaining shards and looked moved.

Regulus saw a mercenary leap from his hiding place his eyes were bloodshot, and his skin was slightly glowing as he seemed to smoulder. "You damned Monsters, why don't you just die!" Shouted Sam as he pulled a long sword from his side and blasted forward, the earth under him shattering.

Regulus saw this and his danger senses flared to life, then he leaped in front of Dione, his blade met Sam's, and a deadlock ensued. Dione sensing this leaped back not wishing to be a burden. Regulus and the attacker continued to push against each other and the human was quickly giving ground being no match for Regulus's strength. With a shout, Sam was tossed to the air.

Regulus leaped upward ready to slash at the man when he was forced to block another hit from the side. Another attacker, displaying similar behavior to the first, eyes bloodshot and skin slightly glowing. 'They ingested a mana core, meaning they killed Dodoria. He was the only one powerful enough to produce one after death. Damn these bastards.' internally growled Regulus as he pushed the fist back and kicked at his opponent, while he didn't make contact the force created enough wind pressure to push him back.

Dione saw more coming out of the woodwork, each having eyes lined with veins and skin emitting a glow. 'Mana infusion, the process of taking in foreign mana for a boost in power, a powerup, or level-up method. Though these guys just finished infusing so they have to finish this quickly before they crash.' she thought while seeing some move for her, makeshift weapons or bare hands ready.

"Stupid." thought the woman as she quickly gathered mana and lightning gathered around her hands which were held out to both sides. |Thunder cannon| she called and clapped hard. First, a beam of lightning flew out, some managed to dodge but others were turned to ash. The following was a powerful sound wave of thunder blasting and deafening those who survived.

Regulus saw a few more fighters heading his way. Along with the other 2 they were preparing to dogpile him.

\Remember Regulus, your blade is long, ridiculously so but that doesn't make it a bad thing. One thing you must understand is that quick and decisive strikes are best suited for it, do not let your enemy get close, and do not let your battles be long or your sword will be nothing but a hindrance\ Regulus remembered the words of the blacksmith who made his weapon, time seemed to slow down for him, and he took a stance he breathed in then out. |Comet slash| he called one of his various techniques one derived from seeing a comet cut through the night sky. Mimicking such a phenomenon his opponents only saw the world shift and then death.

{Notice, enough mana has been gathered,

Individual Regulus can now evolve. Evolutionary path selection process commencing...

When the voice rang out in his head, he felt a surge of heat from his heart, where his core also resided. A purple flame burst out and started to consume him, burning away at his once goblin nature.

The evolution finished and the pillar of fire that had consumed his dissipated. "My look how handsome you've become." complemented Dione, she had come to stand near Regulus after his evolution started. "More powerful too." she continued while examining him. He was still the height of an average human, with a lean muscular build, he was tanned with various marking across his body, a mark of either divinity or demonicness, she wasn't sure yet. His face was handsome, almost feminine with narrow eyes that glowed with myriad colours. One was of brighter colours with the other darker ones. 2 etherial horns were on his forehead, flowing like a dark fire of purple energy and long Braided hair, that had not changed much.

"This power." muttered Regulus as he raised a hand and gripped his fist tightly. He could feel his mana core pumping along with his heart, mana flowing through his vains and melding with his body.

"Is a result of your hard work. Congratulations." spoke Dione and Regulus looked at him an eye raised. Seeing the questioning look Dione continued, "Your a transmigrant remember, you've been reborn in this world as one specie or another. From what you were willing to share I assume you were a type of monster for some. Most monsters share and evolutionary line, at some point. Like a troll and Ogre are both evolutions of Goblins and both can evolve to oni or kijin depending on their power. Your soul must have been refined through your countless lives, and rebirths. I mean I have mana core 3 or 4 times more powerful than that of a normal monster, but yours. It's off the charts, thanks to your perseverance and dedication to continue to exists despite how cruel this world is. I envy that really." said the woman a smile on her face. Regulus smiled a small blush on his face.

"Thank you for that, you are a good friend to me Dione. If you desire it I can share some of my power with you." said Regulus but Dione shook her head.

"No, I'll gain my own strength." said Dione.

"Very well. Now let's go back, we need to see if everyone is ok." spoke the man and Dione nodded.

.oOo.

After a trip back to their village they found that luckily not everyone was dead. From the 150 or so Goblins in the village less that 60 remain but those who did were children and women or the elderly, and A few warrior goblins that numbered about 10. Regulus was just happy that his tribe wasn't wiped out.

When he arrived his people were shocked to find out that he'd evolved to an Oni, and after taking a few congratulations he got down to business addressing at hand. "This isn't over, I'm sorry to inform you all while tensions are still high but I'd imagine that the human's will send people to investigate what happened to their comrades." said Regulus and the goblins in front of him nodded. Agreeing with his words.

"What should we do then sire?" asked Luca, this indicated that he'd already accepted Regulus as his new ruler, the new chief of this village.

"I do not like this but we need assistance. I might be able to face them and Luca and Dione might also be fine but I am absolutely not willing to leave you all un defended during the battle. So I will go to the Ogre tribe, offering them some of the silver we've already mined should prove good enough." said Regulus.

"While that may be true, you'll be indanger if you do not tread carefully." spoke an elderly goblin.

"I understand lady Jane, but it's a venture I must take, and obviously I will not leave you indefended as I said. Going alone should prove far more affective." informed Regulus, then he smiled. "But first I must assist in the rebuilding efforts, and make sure you all will be ok for the few days or so I will be away." said Regulus and the villagers all looked at him and sighed. All knew that he wasn't going to back down.

"Very well, let us hurry then so we can make preparations for the humans." spoke one Goblin warrior and Regulus smiled seeing the men and women of his village move on. Survival was far more important than morning and Regulus knew that, the people know that and that is the best way to honor their dead friends, survive and move on, live on and get stronger.

.oOo.

The rebuilding effort was going on at a sturdy pace, Regulus had used his new ability |Mornach| to boost his people's stats which made it faster. Soon in about 2 days the rebuilding would be complete. Though as night came Regulus decided to keep watch and he was gazing at the stars when he was found.

"You know you don't have to go alone." spoke Dione as she sat next to him. The oni looked at her and looked up once more and Regulus shook his head.

"No, i need you to use that other world info of your to assist me with some thing else. I want you to held build stronger infrastructure and design something that will make the kingdom of Sahara green with envy." said Regulus and Dione narrowed her eyes.

"Your planning of subjegating the Ogres aren't you." accused the Hob-goblin. Regulus nodded.

"Yeah, I just did not want to worry the villagers. What we need above all else Dione is permanent hands, people to stand beside us when things get rough. As fellow monsters I'm sure they can relate to our plight enough to agree should i open their eyes to it." said Regulus and Dione sighed.

"Fine, I've always wanted to design and build a city, maybe I can be it's queen too," spoke Dione with a dreamy expression on her face.

"You will." said Regulus as he smirked at the woman who blushed.

"Your Joking right?" asked Dione and Regulus merely leaned forward and captured her lips, before pulling back and taking a secondary pleasure from her shocked, red face.

"No I don't think so." he said.
