(CHAPTER 28: TOGETHER)

The fist landed right on his face.

But nothing happened.

Right at that time, I noticed I am as light as a feather.

I stare at him, a smile of victory.

I started to float, like someone switched off gravity.

"What are you trying to do, kill me?" Brutus stood up and wipe away the blood from his face. He let out a smirk, still keeping an eye on me. He drag the bat towards me, this time I had no way to escape. I am like a caged rat, with only one exit. He raised his bat, and right when I fell to the ground, I immediately raised my hand. I had not time to escape, unlike being pulled down. Being pulled up is even more dangerous. It is predictable, and just as I expected. The moment I touch the ground beneath me, the bat hit me by the side of my shoulder hard.

"That's a strike~"

I could feel the bone shatter into pieces before being flung towards Toby as both of us clash into each other. "Your thoughts are too narrow boy. You are too proud of yourself, if you work with your mate there, maybe you could stand a chance." Brutus let out a grin. "Now its too late." I get back up on my feet, my body sizzling as I return back to that good old self. I stare at my arm, it was bent towards the inside, the flesh was crushed into jelly. The pain was so strong that it just felt numb.

"What do you want, fight?" That cockiness return to his face once more. I let out a grunt, that damn pride in my heart forced me to approach him. "No, Rey stop." Toby grab by my wrist, trying to stop me. "You will die." I stare at him, is he, crying? Even at this situation, I still feel weird about all of this same sec relationship problem. "Fuck off, you are always pulling my leg." I growl at him, at least my best way to keep him away from danger. I am the one who get him in all of this.

"I-I, can help." He seem to be a little scared from my threaten. "FUCK! OFF!" I shouted right in front of his face, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and toss him away. He fell to the ground with a thud. "Rey…" He sat back and stare at me. I glare at him, breathing heavily. "Go!" I screamed, he stood up and start running back, scared. "Get away from here! Fuck off! Go! G-go!" At the last "go", my voice is a bit choked, for some goddamn reason.

"Looks like you are going to die, alone." Brutus just stood there and watch the drama. I turn my back towards him, after making sure Toby is long gone. I lost, not because he was stronger, because I underestimate him. Because I wanted to take care of Toby better. Because I am too confident of myself, even though I am just nobody. "Enough shit talking." Even at the last moment, I wont let down my pride, I rather die. "Let's fight." I raised my one and only fist, the rest was dangling like it was held barely by a few thin strings, swaying in the wind.

"You are one of the hardest to kill roach I've ever met." Brutus let out a laugh. "But I will grant your wish." He dashes towards me. I released my Magma Beam, my last effortless effort. He straight up tank the heat ray before I even realize he was right in front of me. I lift up his bat and swing, I let out a deep breath and closed my eyes.

"Rey!!"

A familiar call, I opened my eyes. Someone pulled me away from the hit. The swing missed, hitting a random oak tree, smashing it into bits. It was Toby. Upon seeing his plan fouled, Brutus immediately approached the two of us. Without hesitation, Toby cut off his entire hand before tossing it towards Brutus. He must've been dumbfounded by these actions, because he didn't manage to dodge the hand. It landed right on his face, right on his eye. Gouging into his eyes, covering his sight. He scramble to get the thing down, but failed, it was locked onto that eye, looks like he could control his separated limbs too, nice.

"Get him Rey!!"Toby shouted, straining, having a hard time controlling that limb of his. Without wasting much time, I raised my arm and aimed at Brutus, who is rolling on the ground crazily. "Final…" With my last ounce of strength, I concentrated all my power into a fiery sphere, held within my grasp like a miniature sun.

"Shine!!" I tossed the sphere towards him. The sphere phase through his body, he is dead for sure. Because once this thing enters, it is a pain to get it out of the body. "Argh, Arghh!!" I opened my palm, just like what I expected, his body began to swell up. He finally is able to take off the hand, but one look at his body sent him to another realm of pure terror. "M-my, body! Wh-at, what did you do!!" His body swelled up like a balloon, through the thin piece of skin, light shone underneath it, he was at the brink of explosion. He take a look at me, his eyes filled with remorse as he pleaded.

"Pleas-"

"Fuck no."

I tighten up my fist, his body burst open. Chunks of flesh and blood splattered on two of us. What a gruesome death, fitting for a being like him. "We did it." I kneel to the ground, before the two of us feel back at the same time. Breathing heavily, blood is still pumping in our veins, excited from the fight. We did it, we really did it.
