Martial Soul Awakening

Today was an exceptionally bustling day in the city, it was the annual Awakening Day.

All of the people residing upon the Douluo Continent possessed something called a "martial soul." The martial soul was a part of the body which could be awakened when they became six years old, regardless of whether they were animals or plants. Through the means of an awakening ceremony, they were able to awaken their own martial soul. This was precisely the purpose of the annual Awakening Day, to awaken their martial souls.

If someone's martial soul was a hoe, then their ability to till the fields would far exceed those of others. If instead they had an animal for a martial soul, they might possess some of the abilities of said animal. Due to this, the martial soul had long since become the most significant factor in determining someone's life.

However, the emergence of soul power was even more important. Soul power was a type of energy that nourished and upgraded the martial soul. Although everyone possessed a martial soul, only one in a thousand people might possess soul power.

The soul power rank represented someone's future and power. As soon as their martial soul was awakened, they could cultivate soul power in order to nourish and upgrade their martial soul. Thus, over the 100,000 years the Douluo Continent has existed, the most noble profession has been that of a Soul Master.

Due to this, even commoners would look forward to their children becoming six years old and awakening their martial soul, in hopes that they would possess soul power. If they possessed soul power, their lives would be transformed, benefitting them and their whole family.

The moment dawn arrived, the streets in front of the Red Mountain Academy were packed. The streets were flooded with parents and their children who had come to participate in the Awakening.

"What do you think your martial soul will be?" a middle aged woman asked the small child who was walking next to her as they headed towards the long line of people waiting for their martial souls.

The small child had long red hair that reached his waist, and if you looked carefully, you could see some pointy ears peeking out from the side of his head. However, what truly made him stand out was his face, as it looked to be just the right amount of cuteness and handsomeness.

Even with the commoner clothes that he wears, he could easily capture everyone's attention anywhere he goes.

"Hmm.. I don't know but it'll definitely be powerful!" Snickering a little bit at the "ignorance" of the woman, the young child who we can now recognize as Gloxinia, replied.

In all honesty, there was no tension in doing this for him since he already knows that he will awaken twin martial souls and innate full soul power.

As they reached the line of people, there was an unceasing torrent of parents and children passing as they exited the academy. The overwhelming majority of them all left with sighs of disappointment, but occasionally one of them would be overjoyed. There was no need to ask why; their martial soul must have given birth to soul power. This immediately attracted the envious and jealous gazes of others.

As time passed, the sun's radiance intensified, while Gloxinia started getting bored as there was simply nothing to do while he waited for his martial soul. But, at the very least he will be able to see the main character of this era after they call his name.

He has been looking all over for him but can't really find anyone who would fit the description given by the novel.

At this time, a teacher exited the building and called out a name, "Tang Wulin!"

"I'm here!" A young boy with attractive big eyes jumped up with glee and exclaimed.

Going towards the teacher, the young boy and a middle aged man who we can assume is his father, go in pretty quickly, seemingly nervous or excited about the martial soul awakening.

'So that's the main character huh.. The novel said he has big eyes but to be honest to someone like me from earth they just look like American eyes compared to Asian eyes..'

At that moment another teacher walked out and called another name, "Gloxinia!"

"Coming, coming.." tiredly answering the teacher and walking over, Gloxinia just wanted to get this over with so he can experiment with his system.

As they walked along the path inside the academy, Gloxinia glanced around curiously at the decoration and architecture of the school. The decorations were all simple and unadorned, just plain white roofs and red walls. Something worthy of praise though would be the degree of cleanliness as it looks and smells very clean.

The teacher brought them in front of a circular building and said, "Would the child's guardian stay here please?"

Nodding and saying a quick good luck to Gloxinia, the middle aged lady went and found a bench to sit at and wait.

Walking inside Gloxinia tried to remember what he knew about this building. If he remembers correctly, it was called an awakening chamber. There wasn't just a single awakening area within the Awakening Chamber, rather there were seven floors and within each one was an Awakening Chamber. Gloxinia was brought to the Awakening Chamber on the fourth floor.

As soon as he entered the Awakening Chamber, Gloxinia was dazzled. All of the floors, the walls, and even the ceiling had wonderful inscriptions carved into them to create an elegant, decorative design. Even if he had been prepared, reading about it and seeing it is a very different thing.

Within the Awakening Chamber was a middle aged man wearing a simple orange robe, that featured the embroidered form of a soul beast.

The man gave a quick hello, which Gloxinia replied to with one of his own and then guided Gloxinia into the middle of the awakening chamber.

Glancing around once more, Gloxinia couldn't help but get a little nervous. What if the system was wrong and he didn't awaken soul power or a powerful martial soul?

Right at that moment, a bright white light shot out of the robed man's hands and flew to the ceiling and burst like a firework, illuminating the chamber with its brilliance.

Starting from the ceiling, the inscription lines filled with light as it moved towards the walls. It was as if it possessed a strong and revitalizing energy, as well as a life of its own. The lines kept lighting up until they converged below Gloxinia's feet.

A comfortably numbing energy crept up his legs before entering his body from his heart. Gloxinia's body couldn't help but tremble as he struggled to hold on. It felt as if his body was being electrocuted.

Everything blurred before his eyes, and an unclear image unceasingly flickered within his mind. He wanted a clear look at it, but he could only feel its flowing shadows. In the end, he was able to see it, but he couldn't remember what it was.

From the view of the Spirit Master, Gloxinia's body was already being enveloped in the light, and in turn, was releasing its own light. Within this ancient traditional ceremony, his martial soul had been awakened.

Holding out his right hand and a green blanket with leopard like spots appeared on top of it.

At the same time, all over his body, rainbow-like circuits started glowing brightly and a pair of crystal-like rainbow wings popped out of his back.

As this was happening, the robed man was watching with excitement as he felt an undulation of energy suddenly burst out of Gloxinia's body.

Soul Power! It's soul power! Although the robed man was experienced and had awakened hundreds of martial souls, he had only seen a few with soul power, and none of them had as much as what he felt from Gloxinia! This could very well be one of those geniuses!

Quickly going to test the exact amount, the robed man operated the formations and read out loud the recorded data. "Innate full soul power! It's actually innate full soul power!"

At this time Gloxinia also broke out of his trance and heard the robed man say that.

'Seems like the system wasn't lying. This blanket must also be Basquias' neutral form.'
