Soon everyone was back. No one was really sent anywhere but being blinded by the pure white light made them feel like they had been taken to some foreign place.
Soon whispers could be heard among the people as they all received a notification on the panel.
[Your class has been chosen]
[Achievement unlocked: Obtain a class]
[Reward: 1 level and 5 attribute points for each attribute]
The classes given were different for most people as they depended on the attributes that each individual chose. But for some people it looked quite similar as it was very common to only have the basic attributes, which didn't have much variation.
{Class:Mage
Level:1
Exp: 0/1000
Attributes:
Mana 5/25
Casting speed 5/25
Fire 5/25
Strength 5/25
Stealth 5/25}
Ofcourse as the attributes changed, the class also changed.
{Class: Swordsman
Level:1
Exp: 0/1000
Attributes:
Strength 5/25
Sword skill 5/25
Aura 5/25
Hp recovery 5/25
Swiftness 5/25}
Attributes changed a lot from class to class but one thing that stayed the same for most was the strength skill. Almost everyone realised that it was necessary by reading it's description, in the attribute panel, while choosing. After all this would directly correlate to the amount of damage they did. So anyone that hoped to do damage needed the strength stat.
There were exceptions as healers, that weren't trying to do damage and kill monsters personally, wouldn't require it. Most might think that there would be barely any healers as almost everyone wanted to get strong by killing monsters but this was not the case. Those that were adamant about helping others or those who were too scared to be on the front line mostly decided to become healers or buffers which lead to there being quite a lot of them.
Though your basic physical abilities increase as you level up, the increase is absolutely incomparable to the increase brought by having an attribute and increasing it. For example it was still possible to do damage without the strength attribute but you would do only a quarter of the damage. This disparity also increases as players get stronger.
Most had figured this out from the skill descriptions, including Dom, who was now blankly staring at his attribute panel. Unlike everyone else things weren't so straightforward for him.
[System is unable to give host a class due to the exceeding strength of the host's attributes as well as their conflicting properties]
[For the time being the host's class will become classless]
[Exclusive achievement unlocked: Don't receive a class after choosing attributes]
[Reward: 5 levels and 15 attribute points for each attribute]
Name: Dominic Dmitry
Class: Classless
Level:5
Exp: 0/1200
Attributes:
Aether 15/50
All elemental magic 15/50
Martial Power 15/50
All master 15/50
Divinity 15/50
You could say that Dom's case was completely unique but there were others as well that awakened a special attribute and gained a special achievement from the system, which gave them 2 levels and 7 stat points for every attribute.
[Classes have been awarded]
The voice rang out again through the other dimension and it was also accompanied by a notification from the system.
[The awakening process has been completed]
[The system shop will be open and will be accessible when an awakener reaches level 10]
[Dimensional portals will start to appear on Earth]
…
[Error]
[Error in player power]
[Strength of awakeners are estimated to be too weak to fight dimensional portals]
[Initial training session will commence]
"What is going on now?"
"What the hell does he mean by too weak?"
Confusion seemed to wash over the crowd as they were very unsure of what will happen next. Some were also outraged to be referred to as weak and with their newly found strength, due to receiving their classes, they were raring for a fight.
Without paying any attention to all this ruckus, the voice sounded again.
[The training will be a battle royal. The player will be rewarded depending on the amount of kills you get. If you are able to get in to the leaderboard you will get extra rewards.]
[This is quite rare as the awakening process alone should normally increase a species' power to a level that they can fight the dimensional gates but it seems to be necessary in this case.]
As he said this a leaderboard appeared in the air and this was then transferred to everyone's system panels.
[Please enter a name for yourself]
A message popped up on the panel asking them to enter their name. Dom, seeing this, wanted to stay as anonymous as possible and so decided to simply call himself death. It was quite a fitting name considering that he will bring death to many today and in the future.
[In the battle royal every player will receive experience from killing other players. But don't worry as it is impossible to fully die in the initial training session. Everyone will revive after 10 minutes and the training will last for 2 hours. For every kill, you will gain experience and other rewards will be give at the end. Good luck.]
People were naturally reluctant to start killing but a timer appeared next to the leaderboard which added pressure and prompted them to start fighting. No one wanted to be the first and so Dom, who was starting to get board of waiting, decided to strike first.
"I need to hurry this up" he thought.
He looked at the people closest to himself and then decided to kill the somewhat smug looking middle aged man to the left of him.
Dom knew that he wouldn't really die, as after all that had happened, it made no sense for the voice to lie to them. They wouldn't really die so he felt no guilt and his face that looked somewhat like one of his captors annoyed him.
No one currently had any weapons so Dom decided to see just how strong he was. Even if he didn't have the strength skill, his inner strength skill can cover for it and even do comparably more damage.
"I'll end it in one punch then" he slowly whispered to himself and took stance.
Before anyone could see what was going on, Dom's fist whistled across the air, square into the man's face. With his new found inner strength and his superior fighting technique due to all master, it only took one punch to pummel the man's face in. Of course he died without even knowing what was going on. After all Dom, being level 5, had much higher base stats than everyone else.
"You.."
"What are you doing?"
Some people shouted in disgust and there was a stand off between Dom and those that were around him when he killed the man.
"Murderer"
Some of the weak willed people complained at the sight of Dom's ruthless assault.
"You should be punished"
Some believed that Dominic deserved to be killed for killing a fellow human and started to discuss this with the others around him as the others surrounded him. But this could only go on for so long as the man, that had died, slowly started to glow. This caught everyone's attention as they waited to see what will happen next and it didn't take too long for the process to finish. As the light disappeared, there stood the man, who was resurrected, and brought back from the dead.
He was as good as new, with no visible injuries at all. No one could believe what they were seeing and the players that were accusing Dom froze up as they realised that they were completely wrong. Though some still wants to blame him, most stopped caring, as they had been dazzled by the spectacle. Dom walked away and no one even bothered to stop him.
He knew that soon, chaos would ensue as the risk of death had been eliminated.
[Special Achievement Unlocked: First Kill]
[Reward: 1 level and 5 attribute points to be distributed later. And a D-grade sword]
"This is quite good actually."
"I didn't do it thinking that I would unlock an achievement but it was quite beneficial."
Dom realised that not only did he need to level up but he needed to complete these achievements to get special reward so he can be above the rest. Then he glanced at his system panel to check what this D-grade sword was all about and he spotted some changes.
Name: Dominic Dmitry
Class: Classless
Level:6
Exp: 0/1250
Attributes:
Aether 15/50
All elemental magic 15/50
Martial Power 15/50
All master 15/50
Divinity 15/50
Attribute points: 5
Skills: None
Inventory: D-grade sword
It seems that a skill and an inventory tab had been added and under the inventory tab was the D-grade sword that he had received prior. He assumed that currently he was probably the only player with a weapon and so he would be at a huge advantage when they started fighting.
Don would not have to wait long as the seed had already been sown and those that wanted to have some fun and try out their newfound powers were ready to go. There were some psycho mixed into the crowd as well, who were naturally excited to start slaughtering those around them. They were simply reluctant to get targeted, by being the first to kill, and so decided to wait until the fighting had started. Now that even the players that were scared of death or didn't want to kill others, no longer had a reason not to fight, everyone prepared for battle, after all, who didn't want to get stronger.
With players picking their opponents to start off with, it rapidly escalated into a free for all and carnage ensued.
