Chapter2: new beginning

The world froze and as if it had always been there, the ethereal being reappeared out of thin air.

[It seems your race is really hopeless]

He snapped his fingers and all the monsters that were currently rampaging in China turned to ash which slowly drifted into the horizon.

[This is one of the lowest level monsters in existence and you still somehow failed to kill it, which shows that your species as a whole are incompetent. Almost every other world, this has happened to, used this time to prepare by building fortresses in strategic places and building alliances in preparation for the commencing of Hegemony. But you have spent this time doing nothing what so ever and almost died in the preparation phase.]

Though the ethereal figure had no facial features, it was quite obvious that he was extremely annoyed.

[Remember this humans, there will be no other chances. Next time you fail to stop the forces invading your world from the other dimension will signal your end.]

[I really do not have enough time to waste on puny creatures such as yourself so I'll keep it short. Tomorrow will commence the awakening process which will happen as I mentioned last time. With the start of the fist phase, whoever is able to awaken will have the ability to pick the attributes they wish to have from a selection of 10 different attributes that they are given. Some special cases or those that are lucky will receive more than ten options and some could have special attributes that lead to them being give unique classes.]

[Since the attributes you choose will decide which class you receive from the system, make sure to pick attributes with synergy. Remember you are all limited to 5 attributes at the start but you are able to receive more later which can further evolve your class. More will be revealed to you later as you gain access to other options.]

[Finally, with the beginning of Phase one, portals like the one you have just seen will appear all around the world. You must kill whatever is inside in 7 earth days or the other dimension will be able to synergies with this world's energy and the beings inside will be able to go through the portal on to your planet]

After hearing all this, every person on earth felt that it was utterly hopeless for them considering that a whole country had failed to clear one gate.

[You do not need to fret yet]

The being continued in his normal monotonous voice but it was enough to give everyone some hope.

[After the awakening, almost everyone that is able to awaken will be as strong as one of those monsters and will be grade f. Your will get stronger as your grade increase and this will happen when your attribute points reach a certain threshold. Your class also evolves every time your grade increases and you gain attribute points and experience by killing monsters and clearing a dungeon will allow you to gain extra rewards.]

[The strength of the monsters in the portal will increase with time so it's imperative to keep getting stronger to keep up with the strength of the monsters.]

[Keep clearing the portals and after a period of time the monuments will be open. They hold monsters and challenges much more advanced than you are able to handle now so you will have to get much stronger to be able to challenge them. But clearing a monument will give the challenger magnificent rewards that will improve their strength by a lot so be the first to do so as they disappear after being cleared once. Well at least for the time being, I suggest you stay away if you do not wish for certain death.]

After all the explaining it did, he seemed visibly worn out as he turned translucent and disappeared.

Though humanity was still shake to their cores, there was now a glimmer of light ahead of them as they now had a way to salvage their future.

In preparation for what was to come, governments all around the world started to lay the foundation for a society full of awakened humans. This started with awakened societies and associations being created all around the world as a way to keep the awakened In check and to increase the power of their respective governments as well.

Though many went to sleep anxious and paranoid, there was a glimpse of excitement in the eyes of others.

Many didn't find the peace of mind to fall asleep at all and waited all night for something to happen. Some stayed still, doing nothing for hours while others watched the news to find the latest updates. Well, with every channel covering news on the recent incidents, there was literally nothing else to watch.

Though they waffled on about the recent incidents, they did in fact give one piece of useful info.

And that was, what ever happens tomorrow, will change everything.
