The Unexpected Visitor

Ethan and Arianna stood in the parking lot, trying to process what had just happened. Jake's words had sent a chill down their spines. They knew they had to get to the bottom of what was going on.

"I think we need to go back to Dr. Elwes," Arianna said, her voice firm.

Ethan nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we need to know what's going on."

They walked back to the lab, their hearts pounding in their chests. When they arrived, Dr. Elwes was waiting for them, a mixture of curiosity and concern etched on his face.

"Ah, Ethan and Arianna," he said. "I see you're back. I didn't expect you so soon."

Ethan's eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Dr. Elwes?"

Dr. Elwes smiled. "I think it's time we had a little chat about your... abilities."

Ethan's instincts told him to be wary. He didn't like the sound of this at all.

"What do you mean?" he asked, trying to keep his tone neutral.

Dr. Elwes gestured for them to follow him. "Come, let's discuss this in private."

He led them to a small room deep in the lab, filled with strange equipment and computers. Ethan and Arianna exchanged a nervous glance before following him inside.

As they sat down, Dr. Elwes began to explain. "You see, Ethan, your... abilities are unlike anything I've ever seen before. You're not just ordinary humans with extraordinary powers. You're... different."

Ethan felt a surge of unease. What did Dr. Elwes mean?

"What do you mean?" he repeated.

Dr. Elwes leaned forward, his eyes intense. "I mean that you have the potential to unlock the secrets of the universe itself. And I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen."

Ethan's heart skipped a beat as he realized what Dr. Elwes was saying. He was talking about using them as test subjects for some kind of experiment.

"No way," Ethan said, his voice firm.

Dr. Elwes chuckled. "Oh, but it's already begun," he said. "Jake is just the beginning."

And with that, he pressed a button on his computer screen, and the room began to fill with a blinding light...
