Ken walked around the mountain area that wasn't very far from the city. He was currently nearing the top of the mountain he was climbing in search of the Red Fire Lily... well, he wasn't really looking, just roaming around.
Ken picked up a rock and used his Enhancement skill, making the rock covered in a blue hue, and tossed it with all his might down to the forest below.
The rock launched at a terrifying speed, nearing the speed of the sound barrier.
BAM!
The rock landed and, surprisingly, it hit a bird monster that was feasting on a dead goblin, obliterating its head and penetrating straight into the ground, making the ground erupt a bit from the impact.
An in-game screen popped up.
----
Your skill Enhancement has leveled up!!!
Enhancement-level 2
----
Ken looked at the notification, dismissed it, and went into thought, "Nine monsters dead with enhancements... and in total, I have used Enhancement 27 times... I see, so the skill leveling system is also based on hidden exp... What a pain," Ken muttered.
He had been trying to find a way to see the exp or measure it, but, unfortunately, the game system was developed in a way that all loopholes were covered, and even the ones that had just been discovered would be hastily fixed, making no room for grinding and giving as much of the world experience as possible.
Although classes were an exception to making the world as realistic as possible, they were necessary to make the modern escape to medieval indirectly.
Ken shifted his attention to his quest for the first time and started to hasten his pace. His eyes scanned every corner, searching for the Red Fire Lily, but even after an hour, he had no luck.
Ken stood at the top of the mountain and looked at all the others, his eyes narrowed and focused to the limit.
And then, out of nowhere...
[I AM BACK!!!]
The system shouted with overwhelming excitement, making Ken, who was super focused, flinch from shock. Ken closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "... I so want to get rid of you..." Ken mumbled in annoyance. "You had already returned... just waited for the perfect time to surprise me..."
[Teehee Naturally, I didn't have plans to tell you, but I saw an opportunity and couldn't resist it~!]
Ken sighed and started to focus again, trying to find any visual on the Red Fire Lily.
[You are wasting your time... there is nowhere that Red Fire Lily would be out in the open, head to-]
"Found it."
Ken cut the system off and stated with a grin.
[Huh...? What? Found it where?]
The system questioned with confusion; she wasn't paying attention, so she didn't see what Ken did.
Ken, in a matter of a few minutes, reached the mountain where he had spotted the Red Fire Lily and was already on his way to the top at full speed, not wasting time.
He reached the place where the flower was, but there was one problem...
It was about 15 meters from where Ken was and a little below a cliff, making it so Ken could go around and drop down to grab it.
[No wonder the reward was so high, there might be no monster that would unalive you, but the process surely would,]
The system commented.
Ken looked at his side; there was nothing there, just a way straight down to the forest that would very likely even kill him if he fell. He was standing in a pathway that was narrow, and with one wrong step, he would fall.
"What a tricky situation..." Ken muttered. He pulled out his sword and enhanced it, making it penetrate straight in. The sword went halfway in, and cracks started appearing on it, "..." Ken looked at his sword blankly; his sword was on the verge of breaking now.
[I want to laugh so bad, but also continue what I have been working on... I don't know what to do anymore.]
The system seriously remarked; Ken could hear her holding back her laughter. But he ignored it and stepped on the sword, readying himself to jump as high as possible.
Ken jumped and, at a rapid speed, reached the Red Fire Lily but ignored it for the time being and grabbed a protrusion on the wall.
Ken adjusted his position and looked at the flower.

He yoinked it, pocketed it, and started to swing himself upwards. With one last pull, he flung himself up, grabbed the cliff, and got up. "That wasn't as hard as I expected," Ken muttered and turned around.
He smiled helplessly and took a step back, standing at the very edge of the cliff. In front of him was a cave, a large cave, and with his new class that allowed him to sense in a radius of 200 meters, he knew what was in the cave.
[PTF!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! THIS IS THE FIRST DAY, AND YOU ENCOUNTER AN ANDREWSARCHUS, AND NOW SOMETHING EVEN WORSE!!! HAHAHA!! GOOD LUCK, YOU WILL NEED IT!!!]
The system laughed hysterically, making Ken's lip twitch. He looked straight into the cave, and all of a sudden, a pair of glowing eyes opened up. '...This makes me wonder if I am cursed,' he thought to himself, took a step back, staring at nothing, and fell. But at the last second of falling, he grabbed the cliff's edge with both hands and quickly adjusted his position.
He looked at the narrow pathway below and risked it. Ken let loose, and he fell down 15 meters and managed to land on the path but nearly slipped.
STOMP!! STOMP!! STOMP!!
The sound of stomping came from above, and Ken, who was unarmed, ran down the mountain as fast as possible and got into the forest, making zigzag movements.
ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
A sizzling sound came from behind, and then a blue beam zoomed in the direction of Ken, who barely avoided being hit.
BOOM!!!
The ground exploded, making a deafening noise that made Ken's ears bleed.
BAM!
The monster that had attacked Ken jumped down to the forest, making Ken glance back. There it was, a monster that he would not want to fight at his current level or even when he stood at an equal level with that monster.
A monster with the head of a goat but without the skin, with very sharp teeth that looked like those of a piranha. It had tusks with two long and curved horns. Its body was like an armored bull with a long lizard-like tail.

[~Run, my guy, Run. You have an undead behind you~! If you don't then you might be eaten alive~!]
The system singingly commented, making Ken give her a deadpan look.
