The desperate undead, and a dreadful Encounter

Ken ran at his top speed through the forest, making sure to avoid the edge and open areas, with sudden turns and bursts of speed.

He was doing everything he could think of to avoid the undead monster that was right behind him. Ken made a sudden turn and went up a hill, but the monster, unable to turn as rapidly, fell and rolled, making a few trees fall.

The monster got up, and its throat glowed blue,

ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

and it blasted a blue beam that Ken easily avoided but was forced to change his direction as the beam landed on the ground.

BOOM!

It caused the ground to explode, making rocks, trees, and soil fly everywhere at deadly speed. Unfortunately, a small stone went flying towards Ken, who blocked it. "Ugh..." The stone pierced into his elbow, broke his hand, and tore his muscles by pulling the arm bone down, stretching and tearing the muscles, making the pain worse.

But Ken wasn't just running. Even though his sword was broken, he wouldn't just run. He picked up a branch and enhanced it. He hurled it at the undead that was preparing to charge, and with a lucky shot, the branch hit its eye.

"ᎶнннЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌ!!!!"

Green blood poured out, making it blind in one eye.

It howled in pain, causing the nearby monsters to run in fear, and Ken took this opportunity to quietly climb up a tree and hide.

After a while, the undead monster composed itself and started to sniff around,

[? Is this a goat undead or a dog undead? Why is it sniffing? It can't even smell in the first place...]

The system curiously and confusedly asked, not really knowing about the monsters of this world.

'I don't know, I have absolutely no idea of an undead's biology. The only thing I know is their fighting and parasitic nature, and that doesn't help me here.'

Ken answered her casually, not really taking this situation very seriously even though the undead could possibly kill him if any of them attacked. The only advantage Ken had was that he was very mobile and could make tricky movements that the undead, with its bulky body, couldn't follow.

Ken snapped two branches, kept the sharpest one, and broke the other in half.

The undead naturally heard it and started to move towards Ken's direction. Ken tossed the half-broken branch as far as he could without making a sound.

The half-broken branch fell, making a small sound that Ken couldn't hear. However, the undead looked towards it and started to run. Ken took the other half-broken branch and aimed right for the tail of the undead, making it hurriedly look back.

Ken took the sharp branch and took a proper stance, aiming for the remaining eye. He enhanced the branch and waited for the right moment. The undead was still looking around, it moved violently on the spot, showing its anger.

"RRRROOOOAAARRRRRR!!!!" 

It roared in rage as it could find Ken and started to walk off but this gave Ken a good opening. his arm muscles bulged, showing nerves, and with all his strength he hurled the branch at the eye. 

And it plunged in,

"ᎶHHHHннннЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌЌ!"

The undead screamed in pain and madly ran around, slamming into trees and rolling, self-harming.

It tried to get the branch off, but its leg couldn't reach it, plus it was already blinded in one eye. It desperately tried to get the branch off but accidentally hit a tree with its face, making the branch go a little deeper and break off.

[Question... Do undead regenerate? I feel like its eye is trying to regenerate, but the branch is preventing it,]

the system couldn't help but ask, as she watched the desperate attempts of the undead.

"Yes, they do, and this undead looks like the worst one to have something stuck inside it," Ken answered as he held on to the tree.

"This one looks like it regenerates the more it feels pain, and with more pain, they get stronger... They are the worst kind of undead, and they can get stronger to an unimaginable degree," he elaborated, making the system give a hum of understanding.

The undead started to roll, and it had to roll towards Ken's direction, making Ken give a helpless smile as he quickly jumped off and made a distance.

[Why aren't you running away? You aren't even trying to kill it,]

the system questioned, her tone curious and laid back.

"Well, my sword is broken... and so is my left arm... plus my legs hurt a bit. I will need to get used to those even just a little. Plus, with my current adaptability, I should be able to heal even just a little and get some stamina back," he explained, which wasn't giving the system an answer but more of a situation check.

[...Okay, but that doesn't explain why you are still here. You can always recover somewhere else without worrying about the undead that is rolling like a ball,]

the system put down a valid argument, but Ken only gave a helpless expression.

"Well, I have no idea where I am, and the monsters here are much stronger. So, I'm screwed..."

[.....I see,]

The system muttered in disappointment, making Ken look curious.

"You sound disappointed," he asked, not really having anything better to do.

[Well, I had a surprise for you and that got delayed... nothing much...]

Ken's curiosity grew, but he didn't bother to ask, knowing well that the system would answer her, "So, do I need to be there at a specific time or any time would do?"

[You can see the surprise any time.]

Both started to plan out the surprise as neither had anything to do at the moment. Ken only moved away from the writhing undead while the system lazily talked to Ken, passing the time.

And out of nowhere, 

"OOWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

A gurgling and hellish howl came, making Ken freeze in place, his face growing pale while all his instincts demanded he run. Even the pained screams of the undead stopped, and it shivered in fear.

"OOWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

The howl came again, and this time Ken's body reacted instantly, with every muscle in his body tensing, showing his veins. And in a never-seen burst of speed, he rushed in the opposite direction of the howl.

BBBAAAAMMM!!!!

A deafening sound resounded, similar to a gunshot but on a wider scale. Ken peeked back, and what he saw made him pause for a second.

More than 4 or 5 km from him, he could see a wolf-like monster that was easily 40 meters tall. In the sky, there was a human figure floating, sitting on a staff with a massive magic circle that was ready to fire a spell.

Ken recognized the figure. "Siria..."

[I don't know how strong she is, but if she can fight that thing... then she has to be around level 150+ or something...]

The system commented as she watched Siria create a massive earth spike that plunged at the giant wolf.

"Well, she was revealed to be level 180, but that was proven false as she defeated a Terror Beast all on her own..." Ken corrected her as he didn't stop to watch and got out of there to a safe place.

[Hmm, I don't know if it's your luck or something, but you encounter danger at every turn, danger that you have no way to handle. It makes me doubt my job here. I am supposed to cause trouble for you, but I really see no point in it...]

The system doubtfully remarked, not really seeing the point in causing Ken trouble.

"I... Yeah..."

Ken wanted to argue back, but he could not help but agree with the system. The Andrewsarchus was way above his league, but with the help of the system, he killed it. Then the Elemental in the dungeon that he narrowly avoided, followed by an Undead that he had no hopes of killing, and then there was the giant wolf that could very likely be the mother Andrewsarchus... So yeah, the system or Ken didn't see a point in her causing him trouble, and it was the game's first day.
