Chapter 3 I'm not a demon but a human

Opening his eyes, Aayam found himself in a room that he knew pretty well. As he tried to get up, an urge of pain was felt in his body. He looked down at it and saw that he was covered in banners.

His thoughts went back to Lilith. Was she alright? Had anything happened to her? He was more worried about Lilith than about himself.

A sound of a door was made, and when Aayam looked up, he saw Mr. Elira at the door.

"Aayam! Thank goodness you're awake; how are you feeling."

"Well, other than I can't telly move my body at the moment, I am still living. But more importantly, how is Lilith? Is she alright?"

"She's fine; there's no need to worry about her."

Aayam was relieved to hear that Lilith was ok.

Mr. Elira then explains what happened that day.

Lilith came running to the house and explained everything to her parents. Lilith's dad grabs his weapon and heads to the woods, while both Lilith and her mom go to the guild to immediately post a request to find and save Aayam. It was around 2-3 hours till they found Aayam Bearly alive on top of a crimson bear corps. Soon after they finally had a doctor take a look at his injury. He manages to tackle the life-threatening wounds using his magic. However, the doctor could do anything to replace all the blood Aayam lost and some rest to leave some of his other injuries to heal.

If it weren't for the dead crimson bear they found with Aayam's body, they wouldn't have enough money for the doctor's help.

What was surprising and surprising to hear was that Aayam was asleep for 3 whole days.

"Oh wow, sorry for Mack; you guys worry about me."

"It's okay, Aayamm. Besides, you risk your own life to save my daughter." Mr. Elira smiled when he said all of that.

************

Aayam was sitting on the bed, resting. Lilith's mother was relieved that Aayam had finally regained consciousness. She checked in with him, wondering if there was anything she could do for him.

He told her that he was alright and there was nothing to worry about.

He then asks her what happened when he was unconscious for the past three days.

She told him that not much had changed since that day with the crimson bear.

"Oh, I see that… "

"However, Lilith has been doing more work."

Just when Aayam was about to say some things, Miss Elira said something before he did.

Aayam asks her what Lilith is doing. He wonders because Miis Elita is talking like something is different about her daughter.

"Well, she is not doing anything wrong, but what she has been doing is working hard enough for two people. At least she has been caring for you for the past three days."

"When you mean take care of, could you go into more."

"Let's talk about that later, Aayam. Right now, we should tell Lilith that you have regained consciousness."

" umm ok"

Just like that, Miss Elira avoided the questions that Aayam was about to ask her. No, it isn't because she wants to answer the questions; it's because she didn't want to tell Aayam till Lilith was with them.

Aayam couldn't see, but Miss Elira had a smile that seemed to suggest she was laughing at something.

************

It was already evening, and Lilith and her parents had not returned yet. He began to worry that the same thing would happen to them if he fell asleep. Thanking what happened to the people who took care of him, plus how he

still recovering was too much for him, so he fell asleep.

It wasn't after 30 minutes that Aayam woke up from his nap. Looking around, he spotted Lilith sitting next to him on a chair. She seems to be waiting.

It seems like she just came back from hunting animals.

Lilith and Aayam stare at each other for a few seconds to minutes. In the blink of a second, the two friends embrace each other's arms, shedding tears of joy that each other was alive and well. It was like they were two lovers reuniting after a very long time.

Once Lilith's parents entered the room, they saw the two teens holding each other. Both Mr. and Miss Elira stood there without moving an inch.

Lilith noticed her parents looking at them with wide grins on their faces. She then realized how this looked to them.

"Oh my, please don't mind us," Miss Elira Wave her hand, slowly closing the door.

"Wa waits for this is not what it looks like," she admired to convince her parents that it wasn't what they thought.

It took Lilith about half an hour to convince her parents that nothing was going on between her and Aayam.

"So Aayam, now that you regain consciousness, there is something that you need to know."

"What is it "

"When you were being treated by the doctor, he found some, or she did not find something."

Aayam started to worry about what Mr. Elira was going to say.

"The doctor told us that your body was something she had never seen before."

Aayam had a puzzled look and his face did not know what he was talking about.

"What is unique about your body is that there are no special parts to it."

"Special what? What are you talking about?"

Mr. Elira had a face that said that Aayam doesn't know something that everyone knows.

"Aayam, do you not know the different race qualities?"

Aayam shook his head, and then Mr. Miss Elira started to explain.

"Aayam, everyone has a unique quality that tells people what race they are or are related to. Some people have teals, Posen blood, scales on their body, and horns like us."

Aayam did not realize it, but everyone he met or saw had something like horns, a tail, and scales. He paid too much attention to that. He believed that they were just some export or part of a cosplay. Aayam did not consider that they may have been real.

That was when it hit him. He recalled what that priest said to Him and his classmates. The world was rolled over by demons, and humanity was in a bear that kept them safe. Not only that, but the people in charge of the student education also said that every plan they had to pack the land the demons took ended up falling due to the strong monsters that spread the kingdoms.

Aayam then had something to ask the Elira family no matter what happened.

"Miss Elira, there is something I am curious about if I ask."

"Sure, go ahead"

"Well, don't everyone share one name with the Republicans?"

Elira's family was even more confused about what Aayam was asking.

"Well, yes, we all share a name that represents everyone as a speech; that name we all share is demons."

It felt like something stabbed Aayam from behind. How could the people who took him in and tackled him be demons? Demons are supposed to be evil and to emulate all of humanity. But the people he has met up until now have been nothing but nice to each other.

"Um, Aayam, are you okay?"

Looking up, Aayam saw Lilith and her parents with worried faces.

Aayam makes a distance and decides to tell them what he is. He could not lie to these people after they gave him so much hospital.

"Well, I am not a demon but a human."

For a moment, that seemed to have lasted for an hour with no one saying anything, as if they did not hear what Aayam had just said.

" Human? Like the ones in the old folktales?" The one who crocks the silents is Lilith, asking Aayam a question.

Aayam looked back to the family of three with puzzled looks on their faces.

He felt like he should be the one who was making that face.

"I believe so; I honestly don't know what folktales you are talking about."

"Here, let me tell you about one," Lilith's dad told Aayam about a folktale that happened eight hundred years ago.

At the same time, the priest said humanity was forced into bares that kept them safe from demons. But the store that Mr. Elira owned was different from the purest version.

Eight hundred years ago, humans came into this world out of nowhere. They came to this world's concert and eradicated all of the demons. When they first came here, they seemed harmless. After a few years passed, the humans that came to this world started killing people and burning home villages. It wasn't until after a country was distorted that all the other countries realized how dangerous they were and decided to wage war on them. Forest them to live in this world. The battle lasted for many years. Even though the humans were outnumbered and outnumbered, they still put up a fight against us. At the end of the war, when demons were close to eradicating the humans, they all suddenly vanished without a taste, just like how they appear out of nowhere.

Aayam is stupid into silents. He was serious when he heard the story that Mr. Elira told him. His head was all mixed up in confusion. He could not believe what he was told. Humans are the real movers and are supposed to be concerted in this world even though it already has people living in it. However, the most consenting thing going through his head was what Elias would do to him. Aayam would not be surprised if they threw him out or called the village guards And took him away.

But the words that came out of the family were.

" Well, whether you are a human being, it doesn't matter."

"Huh?"

Aayam did not think he missed Elira, right?

"Mom, right, it doesn't matter what Aayam is. He is still Aayam."

Wha

"Indeed, you don't seem to be a bad person at all."

Ayam could not believe what he was hearing. He thought they were going to cast him out. But that was not the cast here.

"Are you sure that's alright? I am human, and you are ok with me staying here?"

"Of course!"

"Like we said it doesn't matter where you came from or what your background is, what matters is that you are now part of this family."

Aayam was so happy when they said that he started to cry. The Elmira moved in close to Aayam and brought him into their arms as he wept.
