Prologue

There are riots happening everywhere. And the virus is spreading so more and more people are turning. It is absolutely crazy outside. The news said that what this generation is protesting are centuries of maltreatment. Pent up frustration that was passed down to each family. Until their children couldn't stand it anymore.

The Tv showed people in the streets holding signs to signify their outrage. I wasn't able to read them clearly because the camera quality was bad.

I was still watching the news when Mommy came in.

"Sammy, you won't believe what's happening outside." She said breathlessly.

I shook my head at her and pointed at the Tv. She just laughed before saying, "No Sammy, it's worse. What they are showing you here is the diluted version of all the chaos and angst that the people of our country are feeling."

I didn't quite understand. So I blinked at her trying to let her know that I'm confused. She only smiled at me with a crazy glint in her eyes.

Mommy picked me up and cradled me in her arms. I nuzzled my head into her shoulder, then looked up at her when she began to speak.

"Sammy, Mommy means that the world is getting more dangerous to live in. But this is only the beginning. Sammy, Mommy is sorry for the hardships that you are going to have to face."

I was six or seven at the time. And I didn't know that her words were the beginning of my life in hell.
