Third Person POV
The class is chaotic as usual that Monday morning when the teacher went in.
“Okay settle down, Ladies and gentlemen, please. The teacher pleaded to which the students responded, though not so eagerly.
He waited for the class to quiet down before finally speaking again.
“Well, firstly, today we had a new student. Please come in and introduce yourself.” He made a gesture with his hand to the obscured person behind the other half of the double door.
A petite slender girl saunters from the doorway. All eyes on her as she stopped in front.
“Hello everyone! I’m Jea Yoon. I just transferred here.” She beamed. She smiles sweetly as she shortly waved a hand.
The girl who just introduced herself looked definitely cute yet sophisticated and rich. It might seem unusual as she looks so young and innocent yet an air of fine and extravagant lifestyle surrounds her. The way she moves and brings herself is different, dignified even. As if she holds an immense power of control and she knows it.
To Sunny, Ari and Bree’s minds, it was a question of why she would transfer schools. It’s like witnessing another Alex.
As for Alex, she thinks and feels much more different with the situation.
“You could sit anywhere you like but I’d suggest you don’t sit too far behind.”
“Okay, thank you.” Jea scanned the room first, looking for a particular person. When she found her, their eyes locked for a split second before she turned her gaze away and pretended to be inspecting the classroom and her new classmates, giving her best smile.
“Damn girl, you could sit on my lap if you want.” A guy whispered but loud enough to be heard by some of the students including Jea. His friends started chuckling.
“She wouldn’t. No one stoops that low especially with you, Brandon. So shut up.” Ari chimed in loudly.
The guy was supposed to answer back when Ari gave him a death glare.
Sunny put a hand on Ari’s arm, telling her to not to press on as she had already made her point and fortunately, she let it go. She just couldn’t stand assholes, especially bold ones.
The teacher have them a stern look then he started talking again about his lecture.
Sunny looks back at the transferee now sitting in the middle of the room. She studies her features. The girl’s innocent and wide eyes are trained on the teacher, her bangs are carefully styled and her long straight jet-black hair curtains her back. She definitely gives the same vibes as Alex when she first came but somehow different. Same but different. So ironic, Sunny thought.
Jea thinks. She is looking at the teacher but her mind is elsewhere. Even without listening she knows what the teacher is talking about anyway. She is processing all the information she got about this certain person she is in class with now. She is thinking of how to amend the situation she got herself involved with and this person she got involved with. It was not her responsibility alone but she was left to fix it by herself and now she is. She is thinking hard.
At the back of the room, Bree noticed Alex tense beside her. She wonders if something is wrong.
“Alex, are you okay?” She asked. Good thing they are far enough to be heard by the teacher.
“Yeah, why do you ask?”
“You look tense and pale. You’re not ill, are you?” Breana pressed.
“I’m fine.” Alex lies. But Breana knows.
It was in the way she answers without looking. The unsteady look in her eyes and the way Alex’ knee is bobbing up and down gave it away. She knows it probably has something to do with the new student. She thinks she heard the name Jea Yoon before but she can’t put a finger to it. She decided to let it go until she remembers.
Right before class ended, the teacher assigned Sunny to orient Jea about the school protocols and tour her around in the afternoon. Being the role model student, Sunny accepted and gave her contact to the girl so they could meet up for lunch.
Alex waits. She plans on taking care of things before it complicates. She was already fine with how things were.
But Jea is also on a mission. She promised.
