CHAPTER ONE

I can still feel the throbbing headache. it resulted from yesterday's run. I was heading to the movie set with my assistant, Ann. The gunshots, I was driving, Ann was screaming. I could see the people about a mile closer. My tires had punctured because I had stepped on a nail I didn't see. I couldn't drive. The louder the gunshots, the more anxious I was. I put off the car, I looked round the environment, they were tall grasses, we both got down taking our phones, we ran into the bush. We kept running until the gunshots faded, we were on the other side of town. We both heaved and laughed a little. It wasn't funny but that was what we could do to relieve ourselves from the anxieties eating us up.

.....

"Who changed the location of the shoot?" My manager screamed at the PR team members.

He is a man aged 40, very handsome, my best friend and also my cousin brother.

The whole room was quiet.

"And you," he pointed at my assistant, "didn't I tell you to always communicate with me whenever there are changes?"

Ann had a sorry look on. My head kept aching, I couldn't believe we escaped from there successfully. I forced a smile, I was the only person sitting in the room.

"It's okay," I muttered.

"I didn't hear you well," my manager said angrily.

"I said I'm sorry," I repeated caressing my forehead, I added, "this isn't the first time we have encountered this type of problems."

My manager smirked, then frowned, "you must be...God!" He said and I smiled. "This decision is final," he said after a while.

We all looked at him, he smiled walked over to his table and rested on the edge. He wore a shirt with shorts. He was so hot and even Ann was in love with him.

"What decision?" I asked.

"You are getting a body guard!" He announced.

"No!" I objected. My head pounded the more.

"There is no no," he said and made the others leave.

"Michael, I don't like bodyguards, you know that," I told him.

"Relax, Jennifer. Bodyguards are there to save you from problems. It's their job," he told me seeing nothing wrong with having a bodyguard.

"They are also humans. They can't be taking the brunt for me," I replied exhausted

"You know what, just go home and relax. You are a treasure to this company, we can't risk you," he told me. I was about to reply when his phone rang.

After two minutes, he was through with the call, "my driver will drive you home."

I nodded because at that moment, I couldn't say anything. How I got home, I couldn't tell.

....

At the Agency meeting...

"Michael, your artist keeps falling into dangers," Mr. Zhang, a shareholder in the company said.

"That's because she is," he paused, "GIFTED."

The five people sitting round the table laughed.

"She really is," the boss said, "you know it's been only two years and she is already a star attracting haters."

The boss is aged 39, a young man, he started the agency from scratch, that was 5 years ago. The company wasn't that famous until I joined it, two years ago. Fame - started with just a line - I can't forget that line. I was a young girl broken by love in the movie, that was the only time I was to be seen in that particular movie. The male lead had broken my heart which led to me driving thoughtlessly on the road which led to a serious accident. As I was pulled up on the stretcher the male lead rushed to me with panic all over his face, I was bleeding severely from my head, but I was calm. I smiled when he walked over terrified. On my face was a smile, I didn't show I was hurting, "John, you deserve to be happy" that was my only line then I passed away. From then I began showing my skills in different movies and pushed my agency forward. I took on many female leads part, won awards and I don't know if that's why I have so many haters.

Back to present...

"With Jennifer's reputation in the industry, it's normal she attracts so many enemies, after all she shot up with just a single line," Mr Moore, said. He also is a shareholder in the company, he is the Boss younger brother, "I suggest we hire a body guard. We can't risk her now," he gave his suggestion.

"I concur," another shareholder agreed.

Michael swallowed, "well..."

But he was cut by the Boss, "that's a brilliant idea. Moore check for the most capable bodyguards and present them to Michael tomorrow," he was saying, "and Michael, choose the capable ones and submit it to my table. Jennifer is very valuable to the company."

Michael was mute and the meeting ended.

Moore had already contacted good bodyguards agencies and he submitted it to Michael that very afternoon. There was no chance for mistakes as every body was a potential enemy, they were all cross checked by the company in everything.

Something that was meant to happen tomorrow, happened overnight. A bodyguard was chosen overnight and the agency was to sponsor him.
