Chapter 10: Time To Start Packing

THREE MONTHS LATER

I was sweeping in the kitchen when Dad called my name.

I walked into his and Mom's room. "What's up, Dad?" I asked. "Sit down." he said. I sat down on their bed. "I'm sorry, you have 2 weeks to find a place to live. You are 19 years old and you can't live here forever. You are lucky we let you live here this long." This is understandable. I nodded, " I was wondering when we were gonna have this conversation. I totally understand, it's fine. I'll find somewhere to stay."

    "You're not even mad?" he asked. Mom gasped, "You're gonna move in with Nathan!" I tilted my head to the side, "We've only been dating a few months. I don't know how I'll feel about moving in with him." Dad visibly relaxed a little. "I'll figure it out." I said.

    Then I went to my room and texted Nathan. 

R: My parents want me out of the house in 2 weeks.

N: Oh, damn. What are you gonna do?

R: I don't know.

N: You wanna move in with me?

R: You don't think it's too soon?

N: No, I kinda want you to live with me. 

R: Where would I sleep?

N: On the couch until you're comfortable sleeping on my bed with me.

R: Thank you Nathan, I'm gonna start packing, I'll talk to you later.

    "Dad, I'm going to get boxes!" I yelled. I walked outside and started my truck. I drove around for hours going to different places to find boxes. When I found enough I went home and started packing. 

    Morgan came into our room, "What are you doing?" I stood up, "Sorry bro, I gotta move out in two weeks." She put her hand over her heart in mock pain, "You're leaving me?" I sighed, "I'm 19, I can't stay here forever. You can still hang out with me." 

    "I am heartbroken." she said. I rolled my eyes, "You're also very dramatic. How's Nick?" I asked. Nick is that surfer dude she ran into a little while ago. They started dating and she hasn't shut up about it since. "He's great, fine, a whole bunch of other good things, and he kissed me." 

    "He did what?" I asked with acid in my voice. She rolled her eyes, "Cool it before you start to growl. He's allowed to kiss me, he's my boyfriend. Besides it wasn't that bad. I just have to get used to it. You and Nathan kiss." I crossed my arms, "Whatever."

    I continued to pack the rest of the day. I got 50% of my stuff packed. I had half of my clothes packed, all of my books except for one, and a half of my stuffed animals packed. 

When I was done packing for the day, I went to the kitchen to make dinner. I was making goulash. When it was done I let everyone know so we could eat.

After dinner and chores I texted Nathan. 

R: Hey, is all my stuff gonna fit in your apartment?

N: We'll make room. I'm working on that now.

R: Aww, thank you.

N: You're welcome.

N: How much stuff have you packed?

R: Half of my stuff.

N: Good job. You can move in whenever you're ready.

R: Thank you.

N: You're welcome. When you move in, we are gonna talk about a few rules.

R: Ok, I think that's completely necessary.

N: Glad you agree, I'll talk to you later. Goodnight.

R: Goodnight.

I went to bed early that night because I was tired. That night when I fell asleep I was pulled into a nightmare. I was running from something and then it caught me. It pushed me into water and held me beneath it. It drowned me. I woke up sweating and decided not to go back to bed. 

I pulled out my laptop and decided to work on a story I have been working on. I worked for hours before it was time to get up. When it was 9:00am I got out of bed and entered the kitchen. I made a pot of coffee for my nana and then got coffee for myself. 

When I was done with breakfast and chores I started to pack again. I packed the rest of my clothes and stuffed animals. Then I packed all my bedding and hygiene stuff. Once all my stuff was packed, I loaded it all in my truck
