The truth 2

My heart stopped beating the moment she uttered the last sentence, I was at a loss of what to say. The truth that I wanted to know finally came and I am speechless.

"Despite being intoxicated that night I said no so many times but you wouldn't budge. You had your way with me and left the room," she said. "For the past five years, I had to leave with so much because of that night. When I woke up the next morning my whole world crumbled right before my eyes. My tattered clothes and the blood on the sheets told me what had happened, I couldn't remember your face and it haunted me for so long. I left the country to run away, I thought if I left I would forget it but I couldn't. she dropped to the ground and cried her eyes out.

I wanted so badly to comfort her but how when I am responsible for her tears. After what I did how could I have been so selfish as to expect her to still be in love with me? I am a monster.
