Chapter 2

The bustling streets and noises around could tell that the day had dawn as most workers hasten to their various places of endeavors. The swirling wind swept across the city as it tossed weightless objects in the air, to send off its cool breeze on any being it rested on. It was autumn, fall as the pathway was covered in amber foliage which was tossed by the wind. A young man was seen holding a camera and taking pictures of fascinating scenes displayed before him. He had an indifferent look and seemed like someone who wanted to while away time. He had a Mohican cut and scythe-shaped eyebrows. His Roman nose and half-dome cheekbones sat above an oaken jaw. His wrestler's shoulders were part of his burly physique. He walked with a tiger - like tread, and his nomad-blue eyes twinkled. They were Saturn round and were a-flush with triumph once it came across any delightful scene. His derring-do personality and bass voice were a big part of his ambitious character. It seemed like he wasn't alone, as someone behind him was trying to keep up with his pace. It was a juvenile who had a sling bag across his chest, a cap, a dark outfit and boots.

"Slow down captain!" He yelled, almost suffocating. The captain smirked and shifted his direction to the juvenile who was trying to get his breath.

"You're not ready to be enlisted, are you? Simon?"

The juvenile swallowed hard and rubbed the back of his neck while shaking his head. The only reason he had chosen to be a soldier was to carry on his father's legacy, and not his choice. The captain smirked at him while waiting for this lad to reach him, nothing of this lad spoke of strength except fatigue and pouting, yet he couldn't get dismissal from the army because of the influence of the general. They were heading to the hospital to visit the Captain's friend, who was a master sergeant. The captain had suggested they take a walk there since they were off-duty, though, that wasn't the wish of the juvenile who desired to spend more time in enjoying his stay here. It had been two weeks they had spent in their hometown since they had been away for years. Everything seems different, and it made the juvenile miss home that he had almost cried if the daring eyes of the captain hadn't made him stop. However, he was good at taunting the captain, who seems friendly when strip off his duty and serious when it relates to work. Annoyingly, the captain threw the camera to the boy, tugged his hands into his pockets and suddenly began to recall childhood. Returning to a place where he spent his most of his childhood life only stirred up memories he wishes to forget. He saw himself as a child running in the rain with tears and looking miserable holding a mini-truck. Furthermore, he recalls waiting at the train stations, the harbor and road side blowing a whistle with faded hope.

"I thought I would never see home again" the juvenile interrupted his thoughts, happily declared, spreading his arms and running ahead of the captain, whistling and jumping while the captain snubbed him, embarrassed by his actions. He had hung the camera around his neck.

They both arrived at the hospital as Simon held bunches of roses for the master sergeant. The captain had ordered him to dump it as it looked absurd, but the juvenile convinced him with a piteous look and a long sad speech that got him perplexed. The captain rushed inside the hospital, gesturing on Simon to keep track of him. They got to the ward where the master sergeant was, and the captain took the lead intending to get inside in a rush and mistakenly bumped into a doctor who was coming out of the ward. Her body jolted against his as it was an unwelcoming hug. The doctor fluttered her lashes and pulled out instantly from him, while he apologized with fixed eyes on her. She didn't say away as he stepped aside for her to leave. There was no time, no wind, no rain for the captain when he set eyes on her as he felt his heart thump with delight for this doctor who was now walking away from his sight. Her crescent shaped eyebrows inclined slightly as she saw him staring at her. The captain yelped at being caught. Her languid eyelashes of velvet-black blinked once slowly, as if to invite him over. The captain let out a stunned smile. Earlier, he didn't even realize he was in her path if she hadn't asked him to excuse her. Meanwhile, the juvenile got to where his captain stood and watched the way he stared at this doctor, who was now a distance away. A scoffed left Simon as he knew what those eyes meant. Oddly enough, he bet this woman who got him at first sight wouldn't be his. Simon abandoned his captain, who was still lost in an imaginary world, and went to exchange pleasantries with the patient. The master sergeant watched his friend from outside and mused. It was shocking though to see the captain gazing at a woman, and guessed she had bewitched him within seconds. He had to raise alarm at the captain to remember him because it seems love had filled his head up. These two gossiped about their captain as they anticipated for the next event, which might be the relationship between a doctor and a soldier. While they lived their life here, it was best the captain enjoys the best of it before duty calls.
