Footprints

Strange things usually happen uncommonly. Once can be a fling, the second a coincidence, the third...not so much. But for all of it to happen to a group of kids? That is very suspicious indeed. Chapter 1 - New Day, New Life

There were loud noises outside as people says their goodbyes, people talking, vehicles starting and leaving each house, kids playing near the streets. But none of those seemed to bother a certain young girl sleeping on the second floor of a simple two story house painted in white and brown, the same as every house in their subdivision.

Light flickers now and then inside the room as the electric fan hits the thin curtains, making it sway. The light touches the face of the person sleeping on the bed as it warms her face, making her feel contentment. But it seemed that her hours of sleep can't continue. There was a sudden burst of a series of annoying sounds as it permeated in the room. The girl scrunches her face in annoyance, she takes the phone from her bedside table and threw it away. She releases a relief sigh as the sound stopped and went back to sleeping....only for another alarm to go off. This time she opens her phone and takes a look, then turns it off and slept again like a clock. But not before her eyes widen, stood up and run fast to her bathroom.

She left her room disarrayed, a comb in her hand and a bag slinged on her right shoulder. She quickly goes down and goes straight to the kitchen.

"Mom, why didn't you wake me up?" She asks as soon as she saw her mother.

"I did, sweetheart, but you wouldn't wake up" Her mom convinces her so as she lays down a plate filled with sandwiches.

"Ughhh...God, this is not so in my list of 'good-things-to-do-in-my-new-school', I just hope that this doesn't happen again." She says as she takes a sandwich and puts it in her mouth.

"Don't worry, everything's gonna work out. You go do your magic and everybody's gonna like you." Her mother says as she puts her hands on her shoulders to assure her.

She looks at her mother in the eye and raises her eyebrow as if saying 'really?'

"Really" Her mother says. Then she leads her to the front door and opens it.

"Now...before you go, I want you to have this." Her mother gives her a black mini phone. "I got it for you yesterday."

"You didn't have to" She tells her mother.

"I know, but I thought you needed someone to talk to as you don't know anyone yet in school."

"Thanks Mom, I really appreciate it. Where's Dad by the way?" She asks her mother in confusion. Usually he's the first one to go but then the car was still in the garage.

"Oh, he's still upstairs sleeping. He's pretty tired from the moving and cleaning, besides his work doesn't start till tomorrow. He'll be up and running by the time you come home."

"Ok, then tell Dad I'll see him later."

As she is near the street with her bicycle in tow, her mother shouts to her "Be careful and good luck!"
