Eldoria

[Welcome to Eldoria]

It was so damn Foggy!

It was a fog that couldn't easily be seen through. Jack the only person who knew the real reason behind all this fog in the town didn't want to stay here any longer than he had to before he ran into them.

Meaning he had to hurry and get on with his plan. Being a Frostmancer definitely changed his plans a little not knowing the true reason he got a different class than before.

Quickly making his way out of the village he decided to open his status window to see just what this Frostmancer class was all about.

—————-

Looking through his stats he noticed that everything seemed to be normal other than the title Rats Bane and the mystery pen as a weapon.

All characters in 'Odyssey' started with 100 hp, mana, and stamina, then 5 in all stats. Gaining 5 free attribute points per level to allocate where the user pleased.

As Jack surveyed the fields outside Eldoria, preparing to venture into the woods, he took a moment to consider his starting weapon – the Mystical Scribe's Pen.

Holding the pen between his fingers, he turned it over, observing its elegant yet seemingly innocuous appearance. The disparity between the pen's simple form and the usual swords and staffs wielded by others in the game wasn't lost on him.

He chuckled to himself, the absurdity of the situation not escaping his seasoned gamer's sensibility. "Great," he mused aloud, "My first weapon in this life is a pen. What am I supposed to do? Channel my inner action movie protagonist and take someone down with a pen?"

Despite the humor of the situation, Jack knew in the world of 'Odyssey', appearances could be deceiving, and even the most unassuming items could hold untapped power.

Next to Eldoria the fog dissipating there was a plain leading to a forest, a plain where you needed only a few words to describe it.

RATS!!! RATS EVERYWHERE!!

All over the place, there were rats getting ganged up on by players. Spells flying everywhere the sounds of squealing as rats got sliced in half with swords. Although only Lv. 3 rats they still packed a punch to the average newbie that's why many groups were forming together to take down one single little rat. The bigger rats (the level. 5s) had a whole raid team put together of about 10 people just to take them down.

As Jack stood at the border of the plains, observing the chaotic scene of players engaging in their first battles against the swarms of rats, he couldn't help but comment on the spectacle unfolding before him.

"Well, this is quite the welcome party. The first great challenge to my soon-to-be followers is a field of overzealous rats and equally enthusiastic newbies!"

He watched as players, some clumsily, others with surprising adeptness, tried to fend off the agile rodents. The field was a flurry of activity - a mix of excitement, frustration, and the thrill of first-time combat with many people dying and being sent back to spawn having to test their might again but at level 0 this time.

In 'Odyssey' every time you died you would drop a level even at level 1 so it was entirely possible to be level 0 which some of these unfortunate souls figured out. Cause leveling up from 0 to 1 didn't grant you any attribute points or anything of the sort.

"It's like a rat apocalypse out here," he continued, amusement lacing his tone.

As Jack prepared to leave the field of novice players and venture toward the woods, he noticed a small group forming nearby. They were rallying together, their sights set on a particularly large level 5 rat that was causing havoc among the new adventurers.

Among them was a burly player who seemed to take on the role of the tank, outfitted in bulky armor. He had a commanding presence and was directing the others with a level of confidence rare in these early stages of the game. This player, who bore the username Bronn, noticed Jack standing at the edge of the field.

"Hey, you there!" Bronn called out to Jack. "Care to join us? We could use another hand against this brute." Pointing at the bigger rat.

Jack turned to face the group, assessing them briefly. He could tell they were earnest and well-intentioned, but he had his agenda.

"Thanks for the offer," he replied politely, "but I have other business to attend to. These rates are not worth my time."

Bronn nodded in understanding, though a hint of disappointment flickered in his eyes. "Suit yourself. Good luck out there," he said, before turning back to his group.

As Jack started to walk away, a voice from the group piped up, loud enough for him to hear. It was another player, one who had been eyeing Jack skeptically. "Looks like he doesn't even have a proper weapon. Probably planning to get himself killed in the forest by the wolves."

Unperturbed by their remarks, Jack continued on his path, his stride confident and purposeful. He understood the importance of choosing his battles wisely and not getting sidetracked by every challenge that presented itself he had a goal and that goal would not wait for him.

As Jack neared the border where the grassy plains gave way to the dense, foreboding forest, his attention was caught by a sudden rustling in the underbrush.

From the corner of his eye, he spotted a rat, larger and more menacing than those frolicking in the fields behind him. This creature, with its baleful red eyes and bristling fur, seemed like a sentinel guarding the threshold to the woods.

Jack quickly using his inspection skill figured out that this rat was probably elite even stronger than the bigger ones closer to the village.

The rat hissed, baring its sharp teeth as it made the first move, lunging at Jack. Jack narrowly dodged, feeling the whoosh of air as the rat's teeth snapped shut where he had just been.

He countered quickly, thrusting the Mystical Scribe's Pen forward. The pen, seemingly inadequate as a weapon, glinted with a subtle, magical light as it connected.

The rat, undeterred, seemed to activate one of its abilities, its movements becoming a blur as it darted around Jack, making it difficult for him to land a hit. Realizing he needed to change his strategy; brute force wouldn't be enough.

Jack focused on the latent magical properties of his pen. He whispered an incantation, more out of instinct than knowledge, and to his surprise, a thin layer of frost formed along the pen's shaft. With a swift motion, he thrust the pen towards the rat, releasing a burst of icy energy.

The effect was instantaneous. The rat's movements slowed, its scampering less effective under the sudden chill. Seizing the opportunity, Jack launched a flurry of strikes, each hit reinforced with the pen's newfound icy enchantment.

The rat, now visibly weakened by Jack's onslaught, attempted another charge, but its slowed state made it predictable. Jack sidestepped deftly and delivered a final, decisive strike to its eye.

!CRICTICAL HIT!

!WEAK SPOT STRUCK!

The rat squealed and then collapsed, defeated.

Jack knelt beside the fallen rat, extending his hand, focusing on the essence of the ability he had yet to use.

A cold, ghostly energy gathered around his fingers, swirling with an ethereal blue light.

With a firm, resolute voice, Jack invoked the Frost Revenant skill. 'EMERGE'

The air around the defeated rat shimmered with a frosty haze. Slowly, the creature began to reform, its body reconstructing in a display of bones made of crystal blue ice.

The rat's eyes reopened, now glowing with a pale, otherworldly light. It stood up, its movements more fluid and graceful than in life, a ghostly aura emanating from its form.

As he did this he got an announcement from the game

————-

[ Would you like to name your companion?]

Yes/No

————

Jack pressed yes, He studied the rat for a moment, its ghostly form shimmering with icy energy, and then it came to him. With a slight smirk, he proclaimed, "I shall name you... Sir Nibblesworth.

Two players, who had been passing by, had stopped to watch the unusual fight. They were now staring at him in disbelief.

"Did he just kill that rat with a pen?" one of them asked, their tone a mix of amazement and confusion.

The other, squinting to get a better look, replied, "Looks like it. I didn't even know that was possible!"
