A new job

The night was very long for Chloe, she had a job asap first thing in the morning. And not just any job she had to become an actress, she had no idea how to act or where to look for the job. Her mind had been troubled by this that the poor girl who loves to sleep couldn't manage an ounce of it.

She kept turning and twisting around the bed trying to sleep but couldn't. She got up and stealthily walked out of the room without waking Adam up. She went into the kitchen and made some popcorn and decided to watch a movie. She turned the television on and reduced the volume. The Tom and Jerry show was funny and it helped calmed her nerves. She was laughing the whole time and enjoyed herself, that show has always been her favorite and she loved it so much that she couldn't stop smiling. She didn't even notice the man who sat on the sofa behind her. She enjoyed the movie from the floor and cheered for Jerry.

Adam was rendered speechless, he married a child. First frozen and now the Tom and Jerry show was there an adult movie that this girl watched. He came down to get a drink of water when he saw the madness that this girl was doing in the middle of the night. He felt like switching the television off but he couldn't, it was her choice and he had already imposed so much of his opinions on her that he felt guilty.

He walked away silently and went back to the room and fell asleep. The conversation earlier kept ringing in his ears, he smiled and drifted off. Chloe watched many episodes of the show and fell asleep on the floor with the TV still playing.

She jumped when someone kicked her and got up and rubbed sleep off her eyes. She opened them and found Adam fully dressed in his office wear. "What time is it?" she asked subconsciously.

"It is 6 am and yes you slept on the floor yesterday," he said and walked away and left the house.

Chloe picked herself up and went up to the room. She got ready and wore a blue balloon dress that reached just above her knees with a black blazer and black flat shoes. She did some light makeup before exiting the room. She went down and had her breakfast before leaving the house. She asked the driver to drop her off at Ross entertainment industries.

When they arrived she went inside and looked for Helena and found her in her office. She knocked on the door and she let her in. When she was inside she took a seat and waited for her to finish typing on her laptop.

"Hi Chloe, what can I do for you today?" she asked nicely.

"I was wondering if you could help me out. I wanted to become an actress and I don't know where to start," she said feeling embarrassed.

"Why would you want to become an actress when you already have a job?" she asked confused.

'Well, you see Mr. Adam Ross gave me a challenge yesterday and said that to test my capabilities I need to become an actress. And if I can't then he will fire me," she said lying through her teeth. But she needed to find a job and the truth was not going to do her any good.

"I see, that man can be weird at times. Believe you got it easy, some people get to do crazy things on his request," she said making Chloe calm down a bit. " But don't worry I will help. You seem nice and you don't find that nowadays so I will help and who knows this could even be a start of a beautiful friendship," she said and got on the phone.

The next minute a young woman came in through the door. She hurried inside and sat down without asking for permission. " I came as soon as I heard. Is it true did you find me an artist?" she asked excitedly and Helena smiled.

"Chloe this is Paige and Paige this Chloe. Paige will be your manager and help you out and if you do become successful then she will be signed as a manager of Ross industries," she said and excused herself and left the office to take care of something.

"So Chloe how good are your acting skills?" she asked losing her happy face.

"I am not an actress and I don't know much of acting as I have never done it before," she said with an apologetic smile.

"What!" she screamed in disbelief. She has graduated from school and wanted to work in the best entertainment industry in the country. But they have a policy that not unless you find an artist and made her act and get recognized then you can't get the job. She had Helena to help and she got her a newbie who knew nothing about acting. She could already see her dreams being shattered. "Why exactly do you want to be an actress?" she asked trying to understand Chloe.

"It wasn't exactly my decision as Mr. Ross made that decision for me," she said innocently.

"What! What Mr. Ross?" she asked not quite getting what Chloe meant.

"I work for Mr. Adam Ross and he told to work as an actress for a year or he would fire me," she said and Paige's jaw dropped.

"You mean to tell me that you work for the CEO of Ross industries?" she inquired and Chloe nodded. " I don't believe you," she said bluntly.

Chloe took her phone from her handbag and scrolled through her recent photos and found the photo she took with Adam at the fair and showed it to her. "Will this convince you?" she asked her and Paige couldn't respond. She examined and saw that it was real, it was clear was taken at a fair, and as far as she knew Adam never went to places like that. He was also known to stay away from women since his last breakup so him being in a photo with her told her the two shared a different relationship. For him to go to such a public place with her despite hating crowds he must hold her in high regards. She didn't think about it anymore and accepted to work with her.

Paige was a book and she had read a lot of novels about CEOs and their secret marriages and affairs. She knew the signs and everything was evident between Chloe and Adam and she was not stupid enough to upset someone like Adam by refusing to help his wife/lover. She took Chloe out of the office and we're talking about the basics of acting when they bumped into someone at the corner. They picked up their belongings and his file too, Chloe went to return the file and came face to face with Adam.

She hasn't looked into those beautiful eyes since he up and fired her. She hadn't even taken a moment to look at him at all, he was the love of her life and he hurt her so much. Her eyes started tearing up while she was looking at him, she remembered that moment in the office when he gave her the and news. She gave him his file and walked away from him in a rush, her eyes were blurred with tears and she walked straight into the wall. She stumbled backward and Adam caught her.

The two looked into each other's eyes for quite a while like they were the only ones there. He saw the pain in her eyes and started feeling guilty again and all she saw was the man who broke her heart indifferently. He helped her stand straight and handed her his handkerchief to wipe her tears. She took it and took Paige by the arm and walked away. She was still not ready to see him, Paige who watched their interaction felt she was watching a scene straight from her favorite novel. She clapped for herself for being right about her assumptions about the two. They left the building and went to a cafe to continue their talk.
