He saved her
Mi Juanxi was deep in thoughts about whether she was going to survive tonight or not.
' Ah why did I have to follow after that palace maid? See where I ended up in the end!'
Soon they arrived at a huge open space filled with flowers and a traditional canopy shelter.
' Wow. This place looks so beautiful and enchanting, it's like I'm in dreamland '
The court lady asked them to place the trays down on a huge and large table.
"Your Lunch, your highness's", The court lady took a ninety degree now.
Mi Juanxi was in deep thoughts and didn't notice that all the palace maids had taken their bows except for her.
"You there, come over here", Guan Bai called out to her and signalled to her to come over upon noticing her nonchalance.
Mi Juanxi was startled when she realized he was referring to her, by any chance had she done something wrong?
"The rest of you can take your leave", Guan Bai informed the remaining servants.
The other palace maids looked at Mi Juanxi with pity before hurriedly walking away.
"Your... your highness", Mi Juanxi stuttered when she got closer to them.
For the first time since she had arrived in this place she was sweating very profusely, she was facing eleven princes.
What were they planning to do to her? Hang her?
Guan Bai smiled when he saw the look of fear in her eyes and grabbed her hand, "Come with me"
Guan Bai led her away from the princes to a different part of the garden.
Mi Juanxi was startled when he pulled her away and wondered what was going on.
"Your highness did I do something wrong?", Mi Juanxi had her head lowered as she spoke.
"You did something wrong. Something very wrong which could lead you to death however I just saved your life!", Guan Bai spoke proudly.
"Really? You saved me?", Mi Juanxi was curious about what she had done and how this prince had saved her.
"Don't you know you have to bow anytime you're in the presence of a royalty? Yet you ignored that fact! It could lead you to death if I had not been there!", Guan Bai said.
"Oh... Thank you very much your highness!", Mi Juanxi started to wonder why he had saved her, was it because they had met before?
"However you don't have to bow anytime you're in my presence, that's an order!"
Mi Juanxi nodded and lifted her head, she sized up the face of her saviour.
' He's really handsome! All the men I've met so far in this lifetime are just so handsome!'
"Now you can leave, also... take care", Guan Bai waved his hand in dismissal.
Mi Juanxi took another bow and hurriedly escaped from that place, on her way she met a young palace maid.
"Hi. My name's Mi Juanxi and I'm new here, do you know where the coal yard is?"
"Come with me, I'll show you. By the way you're really pretty, I've never seen anyone as pretty as this", The palace maid was filled with a little bit of envy.
Soon they arrived at a dirty yard filled with coal, firewoods and smoke.
"It's really not easy working here however if you work really hard then you might get promoted"
Mi Juanxi nodded and thanked the palace maid for the advice.
"Cough... cough...", Mi Juanxi covered her nose with a bit of her dress and walked into the large yard.
She saw countless maids breaking firewood, some burning it, some arranging and some just running around.
"Hey you over there! What are you doing just standing here? Are you new here?", A fat greasy middle aged woman yelled at Mi Juanxi.
The other palace maids turned their heads at her direction and glanced at her.
' What are they looking at? They had better focus on their work '
Mi Juanxi headed over to where the fat woman was.
"Hello ma'am, I'm new here. I'm Mi Juanxi", Mi Juanxi extended her hand for a handshake.
The fat woman stared at the stretched hand and then at her face as though she was a weirdo.
' Right! I'm in ancient times, I suppose they don't handshake huh? '
The fat woman was the head maiden of the coal yard and took care of everything that happened there.
She was known for being wicked, rude and unfriendly.
Upon seeing Mi Juanxi's face, she was enchanted and didn't know what to say.
She then moved on to size her up, her skin was pale and as white as snow.
The fat woman felt like such a place was only going to ruin such a beautiful skin.
"Since you're new here it means you don't know much about this place. You'll only wash the tools used to work for the time being, later when you get used to the place you'll manage the coal"
Upon hearing her words the other maidens were more than shocked, why did they feel like her voice sounded softer than her usual cold and manly voice?
Moreover what did she mean by the new girl washing tools because she was new? There was a rule made by her that every new girl would manage coal!
Their madam was being biased, however none of them dared to voice out her thoughts.
