Chapter 60

Which left her and Nuriel alone. And she was still hell bent on staying mad at him. Nothing he said or did would make her change he feelings. Which was exactly why she took a step back when he approached her. She knew very well that all her attempts would turn futile once he got close to her. She was already starting to give up and he was still a few feet away.

" So I assume that you're still upset with me. "

She crossed her arms and turned her head to the side.

" Your assumption is correct. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to bed and I would appreciate it if you don't try to stop me, " she walked away and exited the room. And although Nuriel wanted to stop her, he thought it wise not to do so. He knew her well enough to know that doing so would not help the situation in his favor. So with great sadness and profound regret he watched her leave.

He ran a hand over his face, wondering what to do. Just how to fix the mess he had somehow gotten himself into. And he realised that there was only one way to do that. So he took a minute to sit down and collect his thoughts before he went up to his chambers.

Flame heard as Nuriel stepped into the bedroom. She pretended to be asleep in order to avoid any sort of confrontation and argument with him.

She had expected him to go over to the bed and try to get her to talk to him, but instead she heard him approach the washroom and walk in. Then a few minutes later she heard the shower running.

And she realised that she had actually wanted him to go over to her. Scolding herself for being so weak and silly, she closed her eyes and tried to get some rest. But it was impossible to do so. So she sat up and started thinking about things.

She wondered whether she was overreacting for no reason. True, it did hurt that he was not willing to share his troubles with her, but still....

Perhaps she was pushing him too far and he just was not ready to talk about it. And she was sure that if he were then he would surely have told her. He was exceedingly kind and caring when it came to her. And she had never felt as bad as she did when she saw the look on his face after she walked away.

He had looked exceedingly hurt. And the last thing she wanted was to hurt him.

So she decided to wait until he was done with his shower to tell him that it was okay, and he did not have to tell her anything he didn't want to. It was impossible for her to remain mad at him since in the end, she was the one that suffered.

And even though he had walked out the previous night and left her there confused, her heart had still been beating faster because if what he had told her.

He had told her that he loved her.

And it was the first time he had said the actual words out loud. So her stupid heart refused to let her remain upset with him.And for that she was glad because it was truly a tiring task.

He was so perfect... and he was also hers. So she impatiently waited until she heard him turn off the shower.

Nuriel stepped out of the washroom with a towel wrapped around his waist , and he was surprised to find Flame sitting up in the bed. He expected her to still be feigning sleep like she had been doing when he had first walked into the room.

He was about to ask her if she was okay but then he decided not to. Fearing that she would ignore him. So he made his way to the walk in to get dressed. He was not planning to sleep so he selected a pair of casual cotton pants and a deep red silk shirt to wear as he took care of the kingdom's matters.

Placing the garments aside, he went to the heat insulator to dry up his wings. Switching it on before he stepped into the small glass room at the corner of the walk in.

Then she came in.

He waited to see whether she was simply in there to pick something, but it didn't appear so. She closed the door behind her and went to the dressing table beside the shoe racks and settled down on the seat. Clearly waiting for him to finish up as she run her hands up and down her arms. All while tapping her foot on the floor.

He stepped out of the insulator and switched it off. Then he walked over to her and was about to ask her what was wrong when she abruptly stood up and wrapped her arms around him.

" I'm sorry, " she said as she tightened her hold.

Nuriel was shocked. A good kind of shocked.

He lifted his own arms cautiously and wrapped them around her as well. Then he rested his chin on the top of her head and closed his eyes.

" Sorry for what m'eudail?... I'm the one who ought to be apologizing. "

" No you're not. You've done nothing wrong, it's just me and my inconsideration! "

He pulled back enough to look at her. And saw that she was genuinely upset with herself.

Goodness! This female had a way of making him feel things he never knew existed. With his hands on either side of her face, he made her look at him. And just to make sure that moment was real, he kissed her.

" Zarek was right! Humans are mostly just selfish, " she said afterwards and he chuckled.

" But you're not a human now, are you? Besides, you're not to blame for anything. And you were right to be upset with me. "

She shook her head, lifting her hands to wrap them around both his wrists.

" I really wasn't. And I want you to know that I'll never try and force you tell me something you don't want to tell ever again! "

Sighing deeply, he pulled her back in for another hug.

" Oh m'eudail, whatever did I do to deserve you? "

She was handing him a chance to simply forget all that had happened and move on. And although he wanted to take it, part of him urged him to simply tell her what he knew she wished and was still curious to hear.

" Okay, I'll let you get dressed now, " she said as she pulled away. But he refused to let her go. Taking a step forward and encasing her in his arms once more.

" Or you can stay and watch. I know you want to, "

" Oh please, you're so full of yourself, " she rolled her eyes as she attempted to push him away , but her laugh and shy blush gave her away.

" Don't deny it, I'm very positive that I'm right. " he said and she scoffed. So he let her go and took a step back.

She thought he had given up and decided to let her be, but instead he took off the towel and headed to where his clothes were. And for some reason, she was incapable of both walking and looking away.

" Told you you wanted to watch. Now why don't you sit and tell me about how you managed to put off the fire today. " he said with that smug look that she absolutely loved.

                              🌼💮🌼💮🌼💮

Settling her on the roof, Nuriel made sure to drape the heavy cloak around her securely. It was a rather chilly night and despite the fact that she could literally create fire, he was certain she still possessed the ability to feel cold.

It had been his idea to go up there, hoping that the fresh breeze and the beauty of the sky would be enough encouragement for him to tell what he had resolved to tell.

He sat down next to her. His feet stretched out in front of him and his wings spread out behind him. They had a natural light glow in the dark. The white visible even from a distance. Scooting closer to him, she rested her head on his shoulder. Because she assumed that they were simply up there to gaze at the stars.

He snaked his arm around her. Needing the comfort of her company. The silence stretched. Minutes passed. And he still was unable to say anything. Concentrating on his acute hearing, he listened to the steady beat of her heart. Then he placed a soft kiss to the top of her head before he took in a deep breath.

" You're restless..... why? " her sweet voice finally spoke. Her eyes on the galaxy up ahead.

He was genuinely shocked that she had noticed. That she knew him as well as she did, and the thought made him attempt a subtle smile.
