Misconception

Vanessa had just finished attending to a customer when she made her way down the stairs but it was after she had reached the main reception did she remember she had forgotten to take out the lady's clothes to the laundry.

Leaving out a heavy sigh as she was already tired she was about making her way back up when she collided into someone, their heads making contact to have the both of them wince pulling away from each other.

"I am so sorry" Vanessa apologized. She knew it was her fault as she had been in a haste but the other girl only sent death dares to her.

Adriana held her head due to the heavy bump. As if finding her best friend's boyfriend with another girl wasn't enough, she had to bump into one of these useless workers here.

"Are you blind to not see where you are going..." Adriana was saying when she suddenly paused as her eyes caught on to the bracelet on the girl's hand and she had to pause for a bit to remember where she had seen it.

It wasn't too long before she realized that the bracelet on the girl's hand was the one she had seen the girl Rose's boyfriend was making out with. She had not seen her face but she did catch sight of the bracelet the girl was wearing on her wrist.

It couldn't be!! Adriana thought But then again she had remembered the girl was wearing the same workers clothes as those in this hotel.

"You…you slut!!" Adriana spouted out in shock. She had not expected James to stoop so low and cheat on Rose with some lowly worker and the thought of it only made her scoff.

Vanessa's eyes widened a bit when she heard what the girl had just called her. Was this all just for a little bump? Vanessa questioned in her mind as she looked at the raging Adriana who looked at her in disgust but of course, she should have known Better, people like her treated her type with no regard at all.

Vanessa kept thinking Adriana was being overly dramatic over just a little bump but unbeknownst to her, Adriana had mistaken her for someone else because of the same bracelet she shared with one of her coworkers.

It was just a little exchange they did after the girl had been begging her to have one of her bracelets since she had two and couldn't find the type anywhere else. Who knew it was what would cause such a big misunderstanding.

Not wanting to cause trouble and attract attention to herself, Vanessa gave the girl a slight bow and even offered her a smile. "I am deeply sorry ma'am" Vanessa apologized but Adriana was having none of it as she stepped closer to where Vanessa stood. She held a scornful look on her face as if utterly disgusted and this left an unsettling feeling in the pit of her stomach.

"What did you say?" Adriana said, daring her to repeat what she had just said but the girl had only made an honest apology as this was what it seemed in every one's eyes who were watching the scene display.

"I said I was so..." Vanessa wanted to apologize again but was cut short when Rose appeared beside them pulling Adriana's attention.

"What is going on?" Rose asked, looking at the two as it seemed as though she had walked in the middle of something.

Adriana paused for a bit looking at Rose. She wondered if she should tell her but that would only break her friend's heart. She knew how much Rose loved James. He was her first love and she had remembered Rose telling her how she intended on him being her last. Breaking it to her in such a way was something she would never do to her friend so instead;

"She stole something of mine" Adriana went ahead to say and Vanessa's eyes went wide in shock. When did she...she had not even met the girl before.

"But I did not...…" before Vanessa could utter any other word, Adriana had gone ahead to slap her and this had everyone present in the open space to gasp.

"Adriana don't....." Rose wanted to pull Adriana back from making a scene but the girl was too fast as she had already pushed Vanessa to the floor. "People like you should know their place and where they belong" Adriana spat looking at the girl with a disgusted look.

"We should go," Rose said, seeing as the fire Adriana had started wasn't planning on cooling down anytime soon. "You said I stole something of yours but where is the proof?" Vanessa said on the verge of tears. She couldn't believe she was being publicly humiliated for something she never did.

"Oh please shut up you scrawny little thing" Adriana's eyes twitched in disdain. She would make her pay for playing around with someone's boyfriend.

Rose Who was about to stop her friend from throwing another punch, got distracted when she saw her boyfriend approaching her and a pleasant smile was soon to break on her lips. " I was starting to wonder if you wouldn't come again," Rose said as soon as he got to her. She had called him when she was on her way here so that he would also wish her dad a happy birthday.

Adriana who already noticed James' presence turned around to look at him and her disdained look was soon to be replaced by a sinister smile.

"Oh James, what a pleasure to meet you here" Adriana said while still keeping her smile. He was her best friend's boyfriend after all.

"I didn't see you guys here, I have been looking all over for you" James said as he took rose in his embrace and this act was alone to make Adriana irritated.

"That should be my fault. I got caught up dealing with a thief" Adriana stated, turning her gaze to look at Vanessa who was already crying. She returned her gaze to look back at James to see if he would react but he only had this passive expression on his face.

Adriana looked at him in suspicion. He didn't look as though knew the girl. a good actor he was, she must say. But she wasn't done yet as she now turned to rose. "Have her removed as a worker. People like her belong to the streets and not here"

Vanessa's body stiffened upon hearing the words being uttered by the girl. But…she didn't do anything!!!! "You are lying against me, I didn't do anything" Vanessa protested but that was when she saw the head manager come her way.

Oh no!!!

Vanessa's face turned pale immediately. Was she really going to lose her job? She had worked really hard to get the job and if she got sacked now, how would she feed herself for the next few months she would get to live.

If her life was going to come to an end soon at least it should end on a good note. "Vanessa Roosevelt to my office now!!" Came the manager's authoritative tone before disappearing from there.

Her body was already weak as she dragged herself to the manager's office who welcomed her in with a letter thrown at her. She looked up in question hoping it wasn't what she had in mind that was in the letter.

"What is this ms pierce?" Vanessa asked, feigning ignorance. She really hoped she was mistaken about the letter.

"I have wanted to do this for a long time now and today seems to be the perfect day to do so. One piece of advice from me to you though, spend the rest of your life in the hospital rather than moving around and causing more complications for yourself" the manger said and even though she had addressed the issue about her illness, she was nowhere sorry about it.

Vanessa cleaned the tears off her cheek feeling dejected. Everyone treated her like trash. "All of you can go to hell" Vanessa's lips twitched and not bothering to pick up the letter, Vanessa stormed out of the office as she made her way out of the hotel.

She did not answer to anyone even as they called out for her as she ran off from there. Her tears only multiplied as the turmoil in her hearth only grew.

She ran across the streets not bothering to look for a taxi as her heart was too afraid to even think straight right now. To think that she would be granted the chance to live her remaining days in happiness but she was wrong. No one ever cared for her and throughout her entire life she had been left dejected and rejected by almost everyone.

Maybe death was really the answer to her problems after all? Vanessa thought this but before she could move her feets more, she fell to the ground unconscious.

Her body was too weak for the pain she was inflicting on herself but luckily she was saved in time just when she fell to the ground.

Vanessa woke up a few hours later to the smell of different concoctions in the air leaving off a very unfamiliar environment to her to have her eyes flutter open but only to be met with a pair of gold eyes staring at her making her flinch as she subconsciously shifted back from the man who only offered her a smile.

"Where am I? And who are you?!" Vanessa questioned as she turned wary of the man who stood in front her as she momentarily looked around her to find herself in a cramped old room that had lots of ancient pots in it and all of them seemed to be on fire.

"Me?? The answer to all your problems" the man chuckled, showing off his perfectly aligned teeth.
