"I just need blue, red and black, and there… the picture, my drawing is perfect," a young girl said. She was finishing her drawing with her crayons.
"Perfect! Dad! Dad! Come and see my drawing.." the young girl said. She raised her painting into the air, as she sat on her stool in the living room.
"Yes Princess," Mr Daniel said, he is the father of the young girl. He came rushing from the kitchen where he was to attend to his daughter.
"Abigail, do you need anything?" Daniel asked, he was just checking if his daughter, Abigail needed anything.
"No dad, I am fine, look!" Abigail said, the ten years old showed her father her drawings.
"What is it?" Daniel asked. He collected the painting from his daughter, as he took a look at it, with a smile on his face.
"It is a picture, or painting, my drawing by the way, it is.. It is just a picture of me… you… and mum!" Abigail said. She laughed.
Mr. Daniel sat down slowly, and as he heard when his daughter said "mum" his mood changed, because her mother passed away long time ago, about six months now,
Daniel has never told Abigail about the incident, and he just told her that she traveled for a long business trip, and will be back soon.
And whenever Abigail asks, if she is not back yet, Daniel, her father, will give her another reason or excuse why her mother is not here yet.
Hearing his daughter mention her mother, and even including her in her drawing, he was touched by that.
"Umm.. Princess, it is.. It's beautiful, but mum is.." Mr. Daniel was about to say something, but his daughter interrupted him due excitement to his remark on the drawing.
"Thank you dad, you wanted to say something about mum, what was that? Wait! Is she coming today? Is she?" Abigail asked. She was overjoyed.
"No, not really, she.. She is quite busy at work, she also sent a present for you, I will get it tomorrow for you. So tell me about your drawing, I love the colors, wow! You are a good artist!" Daniel said. He lied and he changed the topic because he did not want to get his daughter broken emotionally.
"Yeah, I can not wait for my present, so my drawing is just our family, you are in the picture, this is a barn, this the houses on the farm? We are standing on the field, that is it, oh! I forgot, I added a little sun," Abigail said.
She chuckled, Daniel could see the smile on her face, he smiled back at her and he gave her a hug, and he kissed her on the forehead.
"Dad.. Dad… I want to do something," Abigail said. As she hugged her father. Daniel let her go.
"What is that Princess?" Daniel asked, he held her shoulder. He usually calls her princess because of the strong bond they have.
"I don't know if I am right, but I just had a thought, what if we mail my drawing to mum, I mean, she can receive mail right? So let's do it, huh?" Abigail asked. She was waiting for a positive response.
Daniel could not look at his daughter and lie again, he hugged her again and he whispered into her ear, "Princess, it is a good idea, but she might not see it, she receives a lot of mail, and we don't want to disturb mummy, right?" Daniel asked.
"Yes daddy," Abigail said. She nodded.
"So.. What if you keep the drawing in your bag, or somewhere safe, like a drawer in the house, or do you want me to do it for you?" Daniel asked his daughter, Abigail.
"Okay.. Daddy, I will put it in my school bag, it will be safe there," Abigail said. She was sad. Daniel noticed it.
"Hey, don't be sad, trust me mum, I will love it. So do you want ice cream?" Daneill asked. He was trying to cheer her up.
"Yeah, umm.. Vanilla or chocolate, just anyone, I will be fine," Abigail said. She is not someone that is demanding, possessive. Just a calm introverted kid.
"Alright, that is my girl, give me a friendship handshake.." Daniel said.
Abigail and Daniel gist bumped, and they did their special handshake, showing the level of bond and daughter -father, relationship they have, and love they share for each other.
"That is my girl!" Daniel said he praised his daughter.
"How was school? Have you made friends yet?" Daniel asked. He picked his daughter up and sat her down on his lap.
"School.. Was the same, no friends not yet, I don't think will ever have a friend, nor wish to go to school after what happened today," Abigail said, she was sad again, she started playing with the hem of her dress.
"What happened? You failed your test? Or what? Talk to me," Daniel said. He raised the chin of his daughter to look at him.
"What happened?" Daniel asked.
"Some…. Some kids, laughed at me, in the last, and everyone joined them, pointing fingers at me, because I said that I live on her farm, a kid in front of me asked if the goats and chickens are my cousins, it made everyone laughed hard but I didn't," Abigail said, she buried her head.
"Just let them be, okay? They don't know how important farmers are, don't cry," Daniel said.
"Thank you daddy, love you," Abigail said.
"Love you too," Daniel replied.
Daniel heard the sound of a car engine, though it was not noisy, it sounded smooth and calm, but the whiteness of the farm made it clear that a car just drove in.
Daniel looked outside the window, gently dropping Abigail on the floor. He saw a white clean car pulled over at the corn field, the car faced the house.
Daniel stood up and he watched the car from the window.
"Daddy, who is that?" little Abigail asked.
"Visitor, my love," Daniel replied, his voice deepening.
"What kind? Daddy," little Abigail asked.
"Unexpected, and unknown," Daniel replied.
A man wearing a suit stepped out of the car, and his bodyguard followed him.
Abigail looked outside the window and she asked "daddy, who is that?"
"I don't know, stay here, let me go and say hello," Daniel said.
