When they were done at the tailors, they ran a few errands Nessa had commissioned and grabbed a quick bite in town. Danny dropped Evan off at his car in front of the mansion. “Are you sure you don’t want to come in and meet my sister, Katie? When she finds out she missed you again, I’m going to catch hell.”
“Sorry, Danny, but no. I’m actually a pretty solitary person. This has been a lot of company for me today.”
Danny schooled himself not to take offense. Evan was being honest about his needs, and that’s what counted. He smiled to take the sting out of his words. “So you’re saying you can’t take another Carmody until you’ve rested up.”
“No offense to your sister, but frankly, yes.”
