Family of the Sunflower

Ever since Alektrona watched a movie about faeries, she always believed in supernaturals. When people told her there are no such things as supernatural, she always replied, "If there are no such things as supernaturals, where did the myths and legends come from? Imagination? Hallucination? I don't know! But I would love to know and meet one," She says it with a bright smile but, once she meets their confused gaze, she looks back at them with the same confusion as them. "I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who believes in spirits and faeries... right...? " And look at them expectation in her eyes. Her answer makes others fall speechless apart from her grandmother, who loves Greek mythology. Although Alek believes in the existence of supernaturals, she's never encountered one. God knows how many books she's read about Supernaturals. Alek talked to everything she sees and asks them, "When will you guys finally show up to me and start a conversation? I wouldn't tell anybody! I just want to meet you guys so that I couldn't die happily. So I'll be here, waiting for you guys to show up and talk to me." *********** Alek sneakily entered the room and was greeted by a boy facing toward the window opposite the door that she just entered. She thought he was Kai. She prepared to scare him. But before she tried to do anything, he snapped his neck to where she was standing. She was caught off guard. But what she saw next was enough for her brain to stop functioning. "What the..." Alek could not continue. The boy looked like her dead brother, Aether. *********** "They are not friendly, especially the Shiwasu." Astraea told her niece. "If you can't prove that you are able to replace her, then we are all doomed." Everyone was listening to her with serious faces, even the youngest looked like she knew that would be the end. "I will prove it." Alek spoke with determination in her eyes. ------------------ This is the story about shape-shifters and some parts are written in Japanese in roman alphabet as this book contains a little bit of Japanese culture and tradition. The Fierce Game

Alek had an incredible bath and went to her room to find her sister, nowhere to be seen.

Some rooms in the house were western-style and, Alek and Bia's room was one of them. The room was blue and white themed, giving off a peaceful and casual vibe. It had two beds in the middle and, the right one already had Alek's stuff on top.

Alek didn't mind that much about her sister not being in the room.

She couldn't understand her sister sometimes. She is a mystery. To come to think, she never had her sister tell her about her love life.

Alek dropped her jaw without the realization.

Oh, dear. Why haven't her sister talk about boys to her? With her looks, boys will not leave her. Why? Is she not suited for a love therapist? Does she even have interests in boys?

"Is she gay?" Alek didn't realize she had said that out loud.

Bia had been leaning on the door for a while and, she knew her sister was thinking about her.

But it didn't seem like Alek noticed her presence. Bia had heard her sister crystal clear.

So Alek thought she was gay. Wow. Her sister's thought is something else.

"No." Bia answered the question and went straight to her bed, not caring about the dumbfounded Alek.

"Then why don't you talk to me about boys? You know I'm your sister!" Alek talked to her sister after closing the door of the room.

"'Cause you don't have any experience in love." Bia told her sister without looking at her face.

"That's rude. I do have experience. I know how to solve relationship problems." Alek told her sister proudly.

"You mean those boyfriends in the book. Well, guess what. Boys in the books you read don't exist. Real-life boys aren't like that." Bia sat on the bed and looked at her sister.

"That's rude to all the boys in real life. Also, boys like in the books exist. An example is Kai. He's sweet."

"You dream too much. And about Kai, that's because he's young."

"I did not think about that." Alek started thinking about her brother. She just remembered he's just twelve.

"If you want to know about my love life, then you got it. Right now, I don't want a boyfriend. I've never had one. They usually want to date me because of my looks or so that they can get close to you." Bia pointed at her sister with her index finger.

"Me?!"

"Yes you."

"Oh... I also didn't know about that." Alek pointed her index finger towards her sister.

"Now you know why I don't date. I hope this made you happy."

"Yeah, it made me happy. Thank you telling me." Alek was now smiling widely.

She jumped on Bia's bed and took Bia by surprise. Then Alek hugged her sister tightly in a weird way because Bia was still sitting up.

"Could you get off of me?" Bia protested against her sister, who jumped on her.

"Nope. I'm going to sleep like this tonight." She told her sister without raising her head.

"You have on your bed. Plus, you move a lot while sleeping. One time your foot ended up in my mouth. That was disgusting and, I never want to experience that ever again. So, sleep on your bed. I want to get my beauty sleep."

Alek acted like she didn't hear her sister. Bia tickled and tried to get her sister off of her but, eventually, she gave up.

It was like Alek's grip on her was made out of iron. Bia sighed deeply and grabbed her tablet on the table next to the bed.

The moment she had her hands on the tablet, Alek let go of her and went to her bed. Bia thought she finally gave up and went to her bed to sleep. But to her surprise, Alek took out her phone and came back to Bia's bed again.

This time, she got under the covers and tucked herself in Bia's bed and started reading a book online.

Bia could only stare at her sister before she sighed deeply and put on the headphones.

Alek didn't care about her sister being annoyed with her. She was used to it.

They both ignored each other and continued doing their things. Good thing the bed was big enough for two.

They continued doing that until their mother called them to come to the living room.Alek and Bia looked at each other before they left the room.

They found the twins in the living room with the parents and Mikoto. After they sat next to the twins, they saw Kai and Iris coming together to the room. Looks like they were best friends now.

When those two sat, Mikoto looked around and started talking.

"Since we are all here for the night, why don't we play games. I think it would be fun. Besides, we don't know when we can do this again."

The adults didn't get surprised by this so, Bia guessed they already knew.

"So, what do you say?" Mikoto asked her grandchildren, looking a little hesitant.

"Me and Alek would love to play." Bia told her grandmother.

Alek widened her eyes. She didn't think Bia would say that but, she didn't mind it. She'd love to play with her family!

"Yes." Bia saw Alek nod her head when she spoke and smirked in her mind. Bia's plan was to make Alek play until she's tired and make her sleep in her own bed. And this plan was going well.

Kai and Iris had nothing to do, so they also joined Alek and Bia.

Castor looked like he didn't want to play but, Pollux pinched his foot from the angle that the adults couldn't see. He was about to say no when Bia also pinched his other foot from the angle where adults couldn't see. That made him stop from saying anything and smile at his grandmother.

Mikoto looked really happy and brought out a board game from behind her. Almost as if she knew they were all going to agree to her request. Everyone knew the board game Mikoto has brought out. It was famous after all. The board game was multi-player economics-themed.

Mikoto became the banker and, everybody else took their place in the game.

At first, the game was a bit boring but, everyone became serious when the youngest started becoming rich. Iris even started buying properties from other people. Alek became the first of many victims to fall under her trap.

"No, you can't do that!" Alek was trying to save her property from Iris with her hands.

"She can do that." Mikoto told her granddaughter, who looked at her with disbelief.

"That is a betrayal, grandma." Alek said dramatically. She didn't know her grandma could side with the devil. "Look at me, sweetie. I'm never forgetting this. You may have a face of an angel but, you are a sneaky little devil inside that heart of yours." She told her little cousin like she was the predator ready to eat the prey.

Iris flashed her innocent, angelic smile to Alek.

"Thank you, Nana."

The sight of Iris's smile made Alek want to worship her. Her smiling was dazzling and, it made Alek let go of her property without realizing it. Iris used that moment to snatch her land from Alek's hands. When Alek snapped back to reality, her land was already taken from her.

Alek tried to get back her land but, she ended up being taken from her again repeatedly and she found herself broke. She used all her money to buy lands and, those lands ended up in Iris's hands.

How was this possible? Iris was not even ten yet and, she managed to steal everything from her. Alek tried to understand her situation but, she couldn't.

Did this mean a nine-year-old is smarter than an eighteen-year-old? Is she actually dumber than a child?

Alek couldn't believe she has fallen into a trap made by an innocent-looking child.

Everyone laughed at how Alek was devastated. They also couldn't believe a little girl managed to make Alek use all her money. This girl was smart. They needed to be cautious now.

Even though they were careful around Iris, she was still able to make others fall into her trap, and, one by one, they found themselves broke. Iris was manipulative. She made them give their lands to her and make her rich. They now knew Iris was a dangerous angel. She was able to make others fall under her magic.

In the end, it was only Iris, Kai and Lake playing the game. Everyone had lost against Iris and had left the game apart from the two.

Iris knew it was hard to make them lose as one of them was her father and, the other was the cautious one.

Kai started to see how Iris worked her way, so he used the same method towards her and managed to take land from Iris.

No one saw this coming.

Alek stood up and pointed at her brother. "That's my brother!"

Men, she was so happy that somebody was able to fool Iris, the devil.

Iris the devil saw what Kai did and, it made her blood boil a little. She didn't think anyone would find out her trick and use it against her. The little girl glared fiercely at Kai, who shrugged and said a silent sorry with a little devilish smirk on his face.

'That's it!'

Iris became serious with the board game and, the two started taking the other's land repeatedly. The lands were moving back and forth from one to the other.

They even forgot the existence of the other person who was still in the game.

Before they knew it, their money was in Lake's hands. They were so focused on each other, they didn't notice the third participant gaining money from them. People who were watching the game was also concentrated on the fierce battle between the two and didn't realize Lake planning evil inside his brain.

Before the two could say anything, Mikoto butted in.

"And the winner for tonight is Lake! Congratulations, Lake! How are you feeling?" Mikoto brought a spoon as a microphone towards Lake.

Lake acted like he couldn't stop crying.

"I can't believe I was able to win in this game. It was really hard for me..." He wiped the invisible tears from his cheeks before he continued.

"Thank you all for your support. I've come this far because of your cheerings. Thank you."

"Woah. Thank you for your speech." Mikoto wiped her invisible tears before she brought the spoon to herself. "I didn't tell you people this but, the winner gets a hundred dollars from me. So here you go, Lake."

Earning glares from children, Mikoto handed Lake a hundred dollars from her pocket. The children did not think their grandmother planned something like this.

"Let's play this game again, shall we?" Alek said this to her cousins at the table and, they all agreed on Alek's idea. This made Mikoto laugh for a long time. The children were glaring at each other like predators fighting for prey.

They were about to start another fierce battle when Mikoto said this would be for another time. This made the children booing towards her and, I-do-not-like-this faces from them And they were sent into their rooms after the game.

Alek went to her room with frustration and jumped on Bia's bed. Bia came to the room after brushing her teeth and found out her plan didn't work out after all.

She went to Alek lying in the middle of her bed and tried to move her but, Alek clenched the sheets tightly and didn't budge to move. Bia sighed deeply before she gave on her sister and got in her bed.

Alek felt Bia get into the bed and she, got in the bed too, annoying Bia more. She hugged her sister tightly before she forcefully kissed her head goodnight before turning the lights off at the bedside table.

Bia showed her sister disgust but, deep inside her, she was happy that she and her sister was sleeping like this again. It had been years since they slept together like this. Bia faced away from her sister and, a small smile formed on her face.

Alek clung to her sister and fell into a peaceful dream.
