Chapter 56

“Don’t do anything until I get there. Hear me?”

But Kord had already broken the connection. 19

Doyle sped down to Columbus Boulevard, siren blaring. He didn’t care what anyone thought or if he alerted Al. In fact, he hoped maybe the siren would make Al hesitate. He knew that Al was involved and was a lot more dangerous than they imagined. Al had no information, Doyle was sure of that. The only conclusion was that he was luring Kord into a trap.

He found the pier and the warehouse and skidded to a stop in front of the gigantic doors, one of which was open just enough for someone to walk through. He circled the entrance but didn’t move inside.

“Kord,” he called into the emptiness of the warehouse, hoping his partner would hear.

No response.

“Kord.”
