Chapter 45

“Gimme some time and I’ll have everything I can including what size underwear they need and what brand toothpaste they like.”

“Great!” Doyle squeezed Parker’s shoulder. “I’ve got to go find my partner. Seems he took off without me this morning.”

“You can show me how grateful you are over dinner some time.”

Doyle went out to the parking lot to retrieve something from his car and was just in time to see Kord pulling into a space. He managed to get to the car before Kord got out. Doyle opened the passenger side door and hopped in.

“Where’ve you been? We’re losing time on the investigation. We need to talk about it.”

“Okay, let’s talk. What’ve you got?” Kord turned down the visor mirror and peered at his reflection. Then he took out some gum and popped a stick in his mouth.

Doyle wondered whether or not he was actually listening. “I’m researching three people in particular.”

“Yeah? Sounds nice.” Kord unfastened his seat belt and stretched.
