The courtroom was filled with tension as the trial of Mr. Gbenga Oladapo for defamation of character and solicitation of murder had gripped the state's attention. The public gallery was filled with journalists, spectators and curious onlookers, eager to witness the unfolding drama.
The Honorable Judge, Dayo Peters, entered and the room hushed to silence. The defense counsel, Timilehin Matthew, sat beside his client; looking confident and unshaken. At the other end of the courtroom was, the prosecution counsel, Itohan Osawese, and her client, Jacob Osagie.
"Counselors, you may begin with your opening statements", the Judge instructed.
"Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury. We are here today to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Mr. Gbenga Oladapo and Caleb Oladapo are guilty of defamation of character and solicitation of murder", Itohan began confidently.
