You Got Greedy

Seemingly calm, Elder Baston was pacing through the streets in deep thought. His expression was neutral and his body was relaxed. But his mind flipped itself over and over while thinking back on what had actually happened compared to his expectations and planning.

"... Elder Baston–"

"There's no need, Chowan. You're dismissed. Just don't forget your other assignments."

Nodding, Chowan also remained calm and dismissed himself.

Baston, now alone, wanted to get to the bottom of things. And he was adamant to see how accurate the rest of his information and expectations were.

It was still evening, before sunset. So Baston knew exactly where to go.

The elder marched to a small inn not too far from the eastern gate. When he walked in, the receptionist bowed. But Baston raised his hand and said, "I'm looking for Mayor Hathon. Is he in?"
