Guard Ambush?

Running out of the eastern gate, a group of eight guards marched at full speed behind their leading officer. They passed the check with ease thanks to their badges. Not shouting or being loud, the nine guards tried to draw as little attention as possible while running down Boarril Road.

The biggest in staying inconspicuous was how quickly they reached their destination. Since it wasn't too far from the eastern gate, to begin with, the marching guards hurriedly entered the target home's yard and formed a perimeter around the house before three men approached the front door.

Inside that home, Nelphy had been working in the kitchen, asking for tips and sharing recipe ideas with Earl.

"I didn't know Uncle Hath liked beer that much," laughed Nelphy.

Earl smiled and shrugged. "That's just how it is. After all, it was my beer-brined chicken that won me this job."

Creak…

"Would you prefer to fight in the house or in the backyard?"
