Killer Plot

I was paralyzed with fear as the man raised his callused hand to caress my face. I flinched from his touch as the smell of blood overwhelmed my senses. All I could see was red, blood, and him laying on the floor.

"I told you we'll be together forever. I knew it was you from the start, Lilith!" the man said, a crazed look in his eyes.

Kai was laying on the floor next to Minerva, bleeding. Lucy and Natsu were unconscious as Wendy healed Gray the best she could without drawing too much attention. Just how did this happen?

~~~ Three hours ago... ~~~
"Hey! About time you got here!" Minerva said, patting the seat next to her. I was about to sit down when arms pulled me back to another table. I looked at my "kidnappers" in surprise.
"Lilith-sama will eat with us," Juvia said, glaring at Minerva.
"Yeah! What Juvia said!" Lucy cried, copying Juvia.
Minerva grabbed my left arm and started pulling me back, yelling about how their food was better. My peaceful lunchtime has just turned into a game of tug-of-war, except I'm the rope.
"Minerva, the food's getting cold," Sting said, pulling Minerva's arm off me.
"Yeah, guys. Just eat," Gray said, doing the same to Lucy and Juvia.
"Why don't we just get a big table?" Natsu said.
We turned to him in surprise.
"You know, Flame Brain. That's probably the smartest thing you've said all day," Gray said amazed.
"It's better than stripping in public, Ice Princess," Natsu said.
The two boys snarled at each other and were ready to fight until their heads got bonked together forcefully.
"No fighting," she said, her flaming-red hair swaying with every step.
"Erzie!" I cried, happily.
"Hey, Shortie!" A tuff of blue hair peeked out from behind Erza.
"Hello to you too Blueberry," I chuckled, seeing their intertwined hands.
"What'd you say?!"
"You heard me stupid!"
As the lunchroom started emptying out, it was only FairyTail and Sabertooth left. Probably because this place had become too violent for some people.
"NATSU! GRAY!"
"Yes, ma'am!"
"Aye, sir!"
The room was filled with laughter as everyone dug into their food, regardless of their.. er, size. I sighed as I pushed away my half-eaten plate. Just seeing Erza's and Happy's plates made me lose my appetite. Piled on top of each other was either cake or fish. It was just not humanely possible for one to eat that much!
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a cloaked figure walk in and walk towards our table. I shrugged it off, assuming that the person was here for the food. I was wrong. Big time.
The cloaked figure kept walking to us but the noise nor chatter never went down. Until the man kissed me on the lips. I jumped up from my seat and created distance from us as the room was filled with murderous intent.
"I knew you would be here, my dear Lilith," the person purred, walking towards me.
I took a step back, a star forming in my hand. Though it's been years since I first came here, learning multiple types of magics is quite hard. Since I found stellar magic the easiest, I started on that. I'm only mediocre on the other elements though.
"Answer my question. Who are you?" I said, the magic in my hand glowing. As he took a step forward, my body automatically took one back. "Don't move or I'll have to attack you."
"You wouldn't attack your fiancé, would you?"
I froze. What did he say? Since when did I have a fiancé?
"FIANCE?!" the group shouted.
I took a look at Kai's heartbroken face and back to the mysterious man. I grit my teeth as the star grew brighter in my hand.
"I don't know who you are. You are not my fiancé because I don't have one," I said, noticing Kai's relieved face. I inwardly smiled. So much for cold and calculating. "I'll ask again. Who are you?"
The man took off his hood and a familiar face appeared in front of me. The star disappeared from my hand as I fell onto my knees, looking up at the man in horror.
It wasn't possible. He should still be on Earth. How... Why? This can't be.
"Hello dear adopted sister," my 'brother' cackled.
I shuddered as the memories I spent years forgetting came back. The memories were coming in faster and faster, hardly giving me time to breathe. My hands flew to my throat as I gasped for air. My vision was going in and out as the voices around me faded away. I closed my eyes tightly to shut out the pain.
That was a mistake.
A wave of pressure fell over the room and I smelled blood. Not a tiny amount. A large amount enough to fill a bathtub.
My eyes flew open to see everyone I knew and loved unconscious on the floor. A tiny hiss noise came from next to me. I turned around to see Wendy stirring.
"Wendy. Wendy!" I whispered. I dared not to raise my voice because I didn't know where that "brother" of mine was.
"L-lilith-sama?" she whispered, getting up. She winced as she got up. Her brown eyes widened in shock as she took in the state of the room.
"Go heal them as fast as you can. Hurry!" I put a finger to her forehead and cast a cloaking spell.
I couldn't tell if she nodded or understood but her presence next to me disappeared. I could only hope for the best.
"Well. If this isn't the man you were cuddling with," he purred.
I whirled around to see my "brother" holding up Kai by his collar.
"Put him down," I said, getting up onto my feet.
"I don't think so Lilith," he grinned, stabbing something in Kai's stomach, causing him to cough blood.
"You!"
A glint of metal reflected off the light and I froze as I took in the object that had punctured him. A metal knife. And not just a normal knife. A dragon slayer killer knife.
"How do you have that? That's illegal!" I said, my wavering voice going up.
"Maybe. But your beauty is also illegal," he said winking.
I flinched and took a step forward, freezing as he pulled the knife back out of Kai.
"Don't move."
I fell back onto my knees, completely out of energy. Was I always this helpless? Just as I was about to give myself up to give them time, Kai woke up and punched him in the face.
"Kai?!"
"Who the hell are you?" Kai growled, holding my "brother" up.
He chuckled and held his hands up in surrender.
"I'm her stepbrother. The name's Mason and she's mine!"
Kai took a step back and wiped off the blood from the corner of his mouth. His red cheek starting to look purple.
Mason looked over at me and yelled "Now!"
Kai turned to me in surprise as I whirled around, expecting to see someone. There was no one. Which meant...
"WATCH OUT!"
Kai stood there, blood trickling out of his mouth as he looked at me.
"Run," he whispered. He fell down to the ground in a pool of his blood.
This was all my fault. I should've practiced more on my magic. Maybe I could've sensed the malicious magic coming from him. Maybe we wouldn't be in this predicament.
Mason walked over to me, smiling. I looked at him in horror, his hands covered in Kai's blood.
"See? Everything's going to plan. He's gone so you can only love me now."
In that moment, I felt like crying. My past life has now caught up to my current one. I tried so hard to escape it. To ignore everyone calling me a "seducer", a "s***", a person who seduced their own step-brother. To escape the past of mistakes of being weak.
I looked down at my hands, my vision blurred from my tears. I clenched them. What was the use of all this magic if it couldn't save them?
I let out a scream, unleashing all the magic I held. Just to rid myself of all the pressure, I had forgotten that there were other people in the room.
I slowly got up, swaying side to side. My eyes settled on Mason. The rest was a blur. I only remember seeing red and punching out my frustrations.
"This is for Natsu!" I screamed. "For Lucy! Erzie! LAXUS! MIRAJANE! MINERVA! KAI! STING! ROGUE! FOR ME AND EVERYONE ELSE YOU HURT!"
"That's enough! He's going to die!" a voice cried, pulling on my arm.
In my rage, I pushed the person back as I kept punching at the person underneath me.
"Stop! Lilith, please!" two arms wrapped themselves around me.
A familiar warmth surrounded me. I blinked a few times to clear up my vision. I looked down at my blood-coated fists and the unconscious person below me.
I scrambled back in horror, pushing the person hugging me. What did I do? What have I done? My hands were shaking as hot tears streamed down my face.
"It's okay. We understand why you did that. Everyone will be alright," a voice whispered, hugging me again.
Tears streamed out my eyes like waterfall as I cried for the first time in a long time. I buried my head into the crook of their neck, taking in their charcoal smell.
"Thank you... Natsu."
"No problem," he said, smiling. I looked up at him as he wiped the blood off my hands with a tissue. "It's what family does."
"...Yeah. I guess."
"What do we do about him?" Erza said, tying up Mason.
"Kill him" is what I wanted to say. It was for the best... but ex-brother or not, I couldn't kill family.
"I--"
I was cut off as the scenery in front of me froze. Everyone was stuck in place, not a single sound was uttered.
"Sorry about this," a melodic voice rang out.
"Ruby!" I said, turning to the familiar girl.
"Your brother here made a deal with the devil. Never fulfilled it and now the devil's mad. Apparently, he also stole something that led him here which jumpstarted this whole mess," she sighed, brushed back her hair.
"Could you take him?" I said, hopeful.
"It's the least I could do," she said, snapping her fingers. Before my eyes, my "brother" disappeared, like he was never here.
"Anyways, I'll be leaving now. It's not good if I stay for too long," she said.
"Right..." I said.
A book was thrown into my lap and I looked up at her curiously, tilting my head.
"If you ever want to talk about stuff that you can't do with them, write it in here. I'll see it and respond to it when I get the chance," she said.
"Thank you, Ruby."
"...You're welcome."
With that, she disappeared and time restarted, Erzie being very confused about where our prisoner went.
"Where'd he go?" Erza said, her face scrunching up in worry.
"A friend of mine took him away for good," I smiled, looking down at the book in my hands.
"Okay then," she said turning to the others to have them clean up the destroyed cafeteria. As Jellal turned to follow her, I tugged on his sleeve. I motioned to the door and he followed me out.
"I was wondering if you could take my place for the rest of the games," I said.
"What? Why?" he said, startled at my decision.
"After what just happened, I realized something. I'm not strong enough."
"No. Lilith. You're strong-"
"No, Jellal," I said, cutting him off. "You know this just as well as I do. None of us could sense his presence until it was too late. If an enemy sneaks up on us like that, we can't get away like this."
"I-I understand," he sighed, running his hand through his blue hair. "What are you going to do then?"
"I'm going to ask Gramps if I can leave for training," I said, playing with my thumbs.
"Alright," he said, ruffling my hair. "Just come back soon, okay?"
"Okay!" I chirped, a smile on my face.
He chuckled and walked back in to help. I dropped the smile from my face immediately and walked to Gramps. To my surprise, he agreed readily after hearing what happened.
I sighed and teleported to my haven, scaring Mavis and Layla.
"What happened?" Ur said, walking up to me.
"Yeah. We all felt a disturbance in your magic. It was draining faster than before at an alarming rate," Mavis frowned.
"I just need to focus on training and time to relax. That's all," I said, pushing past them.
Layla reached out to me but I walked past them, slamming the door behind me. I sank down to the floor, leaning on the door. Burying my face in my hands, I shuddered after rethinking today's events. This couldn't happen again. Ever.
It was my fault it happened. My fault that the past caught up to me. And if I didn't do something about it, the future I planned out would cease to exist.
For the following weeks, I trained with Zeref, having him sneak up on my constantly, throwing random objects at me at random times of the day. Even in my sleep.
At first, it was quite difficult but it got easier with time. Even Layla and Ur joined in after realizing that there was no way of talking me out of it.
I trained relentlessly for weeks, often skipping out on meals to work on my skills. Days went by quickly as my skills went up, but my health down.
"You should really eat something, lil sis. You look like a ghost," Zeref said, looking at me. "And I don't mean the nice type."
"As much as I hate to agree with a guy like him, he's right," Mavis sighed, ignoring the weird look from Zeref.
Layla and Ur looked at each other with a raised brow but also nodded in agreement. I sighed. Seeing everyone against me, I pushed aside my schedule to eat the first lunch meal I had in months.
"How long has it been?" I coughed, my voice sounding raspy.
"Depends on what you're asking. It's been 18 hours since your last meal, 20 weeks in here, and 18 weeks since you've last spoken," Ur said, shrugging.
I nodded before walking back to my room. I started packing up my luggage, putting my mask on.
"You're going back out?" Layla asked, leaning against the doorframe.
I nodded, typing my long hair into a high ponytail.
"Mind if I come with you? I want to see Lucy and Jude," she said softly, helping me pack.
I nodded again as I zipped up my bag. I grabbed my lance from the tall and swung it over my back, the sharp point pointed towards the sky.
"Leaving?" Ur said, getting off her spot from the couch. "I'll come."
"Wait. Won't that leave me and blackie here?" Mavis cried.
Zeref chuckled and Layla and Ur gave her a smile.
"Lilith! Say something about this!"
I pretended not to hear her words as I opened the portal. With Layla and Ur following behind me, Mavis's complaints got quieter as we stepped out into Fairy Tail's main hall.
"Who are y-?" a guild member said.
"Mommy!" a girl squealed, hugging Layla. I looked at Layla curiously as she introduced me to her second daughter. Now, this was new.
Gray looked at Ur with his jaw open. Juvia looked at Ur jealously but lightened up when Gray introduced her as his teacher.
"Lilith?" a voice said from the second floor.
The whole guild froze to look at me. From behind the mask, I could see Laxus leaning against the railing.
'You look like you haven't slept in days' I wrote, magic letters floating in the air.
"What's wrong with your voice?" Levy asked, intrigued by my way of "speaking".
'Haven't used it in 18 weeks or something'
"Where'd you go?" Erza demanded, stomping up to me. Just then, the guild doors flew open with six figures standing at the entrance.
'To make sure that it won't happen again'
Everyone at the time of the incident looked away guiltily. I knew that we all felt it. We were all too inexperienced. If that had been a real battle on the battlefield, we would've died in seconds without struggle.
"You didn't have to do it alone you know," Minerva said, her voice cracking.
'It was my problem. It was also my fault that he did it in the first place. I will make sure this never happens to anyone I love ever again.'
I turned on my heel and walked out the guild towards mine and Lucy's house, no one stopping me as my words sunk in. I stopped in front of the door with my bags. Footsteps could be heard running towards the door.
"Hey, Natsu! Why are you running?" Lucy cried from inside the house.
"Oi, answer me! Natsu--" She stopped as Natsu threw open the door and hugged me.
'Hi?'
~~~~~~

"So let me get this straight. You went training for 20 something months, haven't spoken in 18 something months, and you just decided to come back because my mother was nagging to you about it," Lucy sighed, rubbing her temple.

'Your mother's at the guild with your little sister'

"Oh, really?" Lucy said, getting up from her seat. "I'll be right back then. Natsu, keep her company!"

This left Natsu and I alone in the house. Happy had stayed at the guild trying to woo Carla again.

"So... I heard from Jellal that you're my sister," he blurted after a moment of silence.

'Yeah'

"Wouldn't it be better for you to talk?"

"I guess," I said, coughing.

"Uh, here!" he gave me a glass of water, which I took gladly. "A-are you younger or-?"

He scratched the back of his head awkwardly. I guess he never expected this. I put down the untouched cup of water on the table.

I chuckled as a smile formed on my face for the first time in five months. "I guess I am. At least that what he said."

"Who?" Natsu said, looking at me.

"Ah, our older brother."

"We have an older brother?!"

I took off my mask, the loose strands of hair on either side falling down to frame my face. I looked up as I rested my head on his shoulder.

There's a lot that you don't know, Natsu. And I plan on keeping it a secret. I'll protect you this time. Never again will I fall.

Goodbye, Lilith Winters. You were a good, but timid weak girl. People like that can't stay alive in this world. Sorry...

Time to get to work, Lilith Dragneel.

"I'll be right back," I said, getting up.

"Okay. You hungry?" Natsu said, getting off the couch.

"Leftovers are fine. I don't eat much anymore," I said, walking over to the bathroom.

Closing the door quickly with a click, I turned to look at the mirror. I undid my ponytail, letting my hair rest on my shoulders. I held a strand of it.

"Just looking at this makes me feel sick," I muttered, feeling my stomach turn and toss.

With the snap of my fingers, my outfit changed as did my hair. The only difference was that the outfit was pre-chosen, the hair color wasn't. I felt that a change was necessary so any color but rose gold would do. To my surprise, the outfit was put together pretty well.

My rose gold hair had turned to a shade of light grass green. My right bangs were cut off but my left bangs were left down and a bit longer than before. My hair was now wavy and put back up in a ponytail.

I was now wearing a white dress shirt with an open collar accompanied by a black skirt. The skirt stopped below the knee, just long enough to hide my dagger holder. On my shoulders was a loose white jacket, placed just like Laxus's was.

On my hands were black gloves with the pointer finger and pinky parts removed. The gloved stopped mid-hand on the back and was connected to a thin black leather that wrapped around my wrist. My pointer finger's nail and pinky's nail were now painted mint green and white respectively.

"This is new," I whispered, touching my new hair.

A wave of confidence rushed into me as I walked back out to the main room, my jacket flying behind me but never leaving my shoulders.

I wasn't going to rely on the anime anymore. Life isn't an anime nor is anime a life. I could only rely on myself to protect them.

I clenched my fists as Natsu waved me over. Lucy was leaning against the counter, yelling at Gray who had a piece of pizza in his mouth. Erza was sipping from a glass of water and Natsu was stuffing his face.

I had to protect this happiness of theirs. It was the only thing I could. Even if it meant I had to sacrifice my own.
