Chapter 15: Macao Arc (2)

Chapter 15: Macao Arc (2)

~Silva POV~

Standing inside a wagon as the means of transportation with Macao I started to talk with the guy about the place were going to he didn't mind me asking questions since I wasn't from around here nor did I ever travel outside from my village.

Obviously, it was a lie of course.

Can't exactly have any identifications unless words are merely taken for granted here.

But regardless though I learned plenty from Macao learning about this world and the location of his request to handle as I merely observe him to see a pro at work.

Me and my big mouth but only handling the last one really matters in the quest I have to do of my own.

Regardless though I still tried to learn everything I could from Macao while grinding my skills in the process like <Magic Sense>, <Breathing>, <Mana Reinforcement>, and <Mana Manipulation> as I talked to the old wizard.

When I run out of MP, I merely use my <Meditation> to return it back in a few minutes so that I don't waste too much of my MP.

Going towards our destination I talked with Macao about the place to hunt down the 20 Vulcan's that needed to be taken care of for good.

Mt. Hakobe is a large mountain located near Magnolia Town. Mt. Hakobe is located central east of Fiore, also up north from Magnolia Town via only a carriage ride.

We are on a carriage ride going to Mt. Hakobe the high mountain with a characteristic alpine climate. Snow cover lasts all year round in this mountain, no matter what season. There are also frequent snow blizzards.

Access is possible only to a certain altitude, at which point it is necessary to move on foot. Its characteristics include the occurrence of numerous caves where the shelters are different representatives of the local fauna and flora.

He even went on the wildlife in the area to which I was honestly a bit surprised he was this informative.

Macao went on to explain that the mountain is the only place where the rare Hakobe Ice can be found. A natural Magical item with several abnormal and magical properties.

Many of the animals that live on Mt. Hakobe are primarily Vulcans. They are gorilla-like creatures that inhabit many of the caves found there.

Blizzardvern can occasionally be seen, which lives in open areas and feeds on a special herb, which according to rumors, can increase the Magic Power of Mages.

Other Magical creatures can be found in the deep caverns of the mountain, such as aggressive giant octopus-like monsters. In addition, normal kinds of snow animals can be found on the horizon such as snowshoe hares.

Seeing the surprised look on my face Macao laughed at me giving me some friendly tips of advice for me, "Hahaha! You should see the look on your face kid! To be a Fairy Tail mage one doesn't just need strength but also knowledge to get the job done. I know all of this by the great well that I call experience. But you want to hear a story about this place newbie?"

Shrugging I replied to Macao curious about this story he's referring to, "I'll bite. What's the story you're talking about?"

He grins while pointing his finger upward as if trying to lecture me like a sensei to their students, "Good to hear! Now there's a legend about this place you should probably know about. The legend says that deep within the mountain, there is a living cave that whoever enters will never come out. Some of the bones that remain are said to be frozen stiff within that cave. Pretty scary stuff."

Ah!

I think I remember that one actually.

I did read and watched the Fairy Tail anime/manga. Just need some events or key terms to help me remember them all.

Hmm…

Maybe I should have the chance to look for any Archive Magic in my free time later...

Once I master my <Mana Manipulation> of course...

But I did recall that Lucy and Natsu were stuck in some place or maze getting stuck as melting or breaking them was out of the way since it could only be cut from an ice company, I think that did it.

I don't remember all the details but there should be some ice that won't break, or melt is what made it pretty famous.

*Ka-klop*

Feeling the carriages stop, Macao grinned as he called out, trying to be dramatic, "We're here. Come on kid I'll show you how things are done and you're gonna regret not bringing a jacket soon."

Fuck…

*Fyoooo*

*Oooooo*

Standing outside shivering from the fucking cold I listen to our driver as he talked, he couldn't take us any further inside, "F-Forgive me… but a horse-drawn carriage can't go any further in this!"

Macao on the other hand doesn't even look phased by the cold as he has purple fire wisp around him keeping that bastard warm as he thanked the driver, "No need. We're thankful you got us this far as you did. Hope you have a safe trip back!"

The driver nodded and thanked him as he got off leaving.

[Ding!]

[Through feeling the sensation of the cold causing the user to be cold a skill is generated to resist the cold!]

[Skill learned <Ice Resistance>!]

I knew it!

Feeling the cold lessen as I see pop-up signs of me showing resistance to cold as I couldn't help seeing the level-up screens pop up.

[<Ice Resistance> LEVEL UP!]

[<Ice Resistance> LEVEL UP!]

[<Ice Resistance> LEVEL UP!]

Skill List.

----

<Ice Resistance> (Passive) Lv.4/100 Exp: 1.2%

Description: The body's resistance against ice-based attacks allows for less damage taken.

-4% decrease in damage taken by Ice related attacks.

----

Oh, sweet.

"Hey, Silva!"

Getting my attention I see Macao going ahead as he told me to catch up as I held my Rune Sword, "Come on! Can't leave you freezing to death up here! Watch how I Macao Conbolt defeats 20 Vulcans with his trusty sidekick Knight by his side!!"

I have VERY mixed feelings about being called sidekicks of all things.

But hey at least the strong hero Macao would go ahead to the front lines as the sidekick can run away to live and fight another so that's what I can rely on.

Normally I would curse back at that remark but instead, I accepted the fact of him leading the way for him to handle the Vulcans, "Sure thing! After all, I'm with an expert after all! I'm in your safety Macao-san!"

He merely grins and accepted it as I let myself get cold while I level up my new skill <Ice Resistance> to level up freely under these conditions. Might as well use this chance to grind up the new skill while training the ones I have.

[<Ice Resistance> LEVEL UP!]

[<Ice Resistance> LEVEL UP!]

Macao looked surprised seeing me not getting cold or shivering anymore as we continued forward and yelled back at me clearly surprised, "When the hell?! Aren't you like freezing without any protection here kid?"

Replying back to the fire mage I answered while shrugging at him in an indifferent tone, "Nah. I'm building up my resistance. I'm just built differently."

I couldn't tell but using <Magic Sense> I managed to gauge not only his Magic power but also his intentions and a bit of emotion of the grin is anything to go by telling me his either impress or happy.

Regardless though I should try to help him out to locate the Vulcans. I really don't want to freeze my ass off here in a goddamn blizzard or cold storm around here.

But observing the area ahead I used my <Observe> skill to overview Mt. Hakobe trying to locate the Vulcans in the area for Macao to defeat.

~Third POV~

Somewhere else in the world of Earthland is an island off the coast of the mainland of the Fiore Kingdom called Tenrou Island.

Tenrou Island stands alone in the middle of the sea, with no other isles visible in the surrounding area. It is a mildly small, rocky, and steep island covered by lush vegetation, both bright yellow and green in color.

One side of the island is shown to be particularly rocky, possessing large formations jutting outwards from the ground, one near the shore, protruding above the sea, and the other near the center of the island, overlooking it; the latter has a pair of waterfalls falling down from it in a small lake below.

Topping such second rocky formation stands the most distinctive element of the island: the Great Tenrou Tree, a gigantic tree with a gnarled, mildly curved trunk, ending in a number of large branches which sustain something that has been described as being similar to "an island on top of an island", being a large, flat section composed of earth and crowded by a multitude of normal-sized trees.

Such gargantuan plant possesses a multitude of similarly large, curved, and twisted roots, which right below the trunk sustain massive lumps of earth; something which creates some sort of covered area right below the tree itself.

But on the inside of the island stood a childlike figure dancing or merely skipping around the island none other than Mavis Vermillion Thought Projection.

Mavis has very long, wavy, pastel yellow-blonde hair that reaches down to her feet with a small ahoge; large green eyes with no pupils; peachy skin, and a slight child-like build. Regarding her usual clothing, Mavis wears a frilly, pink-layered robe with a red ribbon tied in a bow around her neck.

Around the chest are three blue diamond patterns with two blue triangles above. Each series of these is outlined in hot pink. She wears wing-like adornments around her ears and small hoop earrings. She also seems to prefer going barefoot.

Mavis comments discontent being bored sighing at the island as she talks to herself in semi-concern as she places a hand over her chest, "Sigh… the island is bored and dull. Only when Makarov brings the S-Class Trials here I can mess with some people. But still… what was that spike of Magic and…"

She paused as she recalled the day when the Fairy Heart reacted feeling her Magic was being used and yet not at the same time mumbling in concern, "But someone has used Fairy Heart? No. That wouldn't make sense as I didn't really 'feel' the effects. I can sense it just don't get any feel for what's going on to make it react this way."

Going through her head of multiple possibilities she took the possible one's own talking to herself as she went on, "Not Zeref. The way Fairy Heart reacted wasn't refined or controlled by him. Definitely not Ankhseram. It placed a curse on us for breaking his rule. But… why did the Fairy Heart react the way it did… I need answers."

Tilting her head around Mavis decided she would pay a visit to her Fairy Tail Guild to see what exactly is happening on her body instead of staying on Tenrou Island feeling curious to cause such a reaction.
