2:The Bryson’s

EZRA

 I woke up with a banging headache . I couldn't sleep. I stayed awake, thinking All through . my Brain was occupied

 I paced around the room , thinking about all that happened last night .

I'm about getting married to a stranger all because I hate my family and I'm trying to run from them 

Is this the right thing to do Ezra ? I questioned myself 

Kimberly barged into my room ,closing the door with keys behind her .

She pulled me to the bed and she asked "you , engaged , who did you pay ?"

I rolled my eyes at her "what do you mean ?"

She glared at me , signaled between both of us . " we both know you have no one , only if you tell me you got back with Jacob and trust me when I tell you I will never speak to you again"

I held my chest and i gasped jokingly "ouch I'm heartbroken"

"Do not mess with me Ezra , now spill !"

I stared at Kim for a while , debating whether or not to tell her the truth . Kim and I became friends in a weird , bad way .

Kim and Desire used to be besties since grade five . Although Kim and I were also friends , everyone knew she and Desire to be best friends but they were more like cats and rats . Always bickering and fighting 

Kim never supports desire evil act and how she treats people . We all went to the same college . Kim and I became closer while desire became friends with rich politician daughters , becoming best friends with one of them . Although Kim says it didn't get to her , I still feel she's hurt their friendship ended that way and she made me her best friend to get back to desire 

Although sometimes , well most times . It feels very real and trust me when I say she's the only one that makes me laugh without doing much but the broken side of me won't just let me trust her 

"Ezra ?"

Oh yeah what were we saying ? "Your fiancé , the gist , what's in your head ?"

Oh sorry . Well you heard right , I'm engaged and in few weeks , I would be married 

"Uhmm, quiet doing that Ezra". Doing what ? 

"Making a joke sound serious , it's annoying" But I'm serious Kim 

"Okay then , who is your fiancé ?" Uhmm a man !

"Yeah I know and I probably won't be surprised if I heard you mention a ladies name but who is the man , like what does he do ? What is his name ?"

You probably know everyone in LA but you might not know him cause he just moved to LA 

"Okay ,who is he ?" 

Uhmm Gerald , I think his last name starts with a B or a C I really don't know but I guess it's a B

"Gerald Bryson ?" She asks

We both gasped indignantly in unison . "How do you know him ?"

She gave me the are you kidding me look "first off , The Bryson's are a well known medical family around the world and secondly , he's my cousin"

I gasped , using my hand to cover my mouth. With my mouth still covered , I mumbled "how are you both cousins ?"

"What's my last name ?" 

I itched my head , thinking , I never really did pay attention to Kim's last name . Although I had an idea her family is a well known family but I never thought she will be Gerald's cousin 

I squatted my eyes as I proceeded to start my guessing game "Crawford , Bowen , ohhhh Bryson ?"

I laughed loudly knowing nothing was funny . Kim literally knows everything about me and I don't even know her last name 

I glanced at her . She looked sad and disappointed 

Pulled her in for a hug "I'm sorry Kim , I thought I had an idea but that doesn't make things any better . The bad thing is , I don't know your last name and I'm so sorry"

"It's fine . I will probably create an ebook for you to learn all about me" 

We both laughed it out and she said to me "I don't know what happened at home , what made you get engaged to someone you know nothing about but trust me when I say I'm with you in every step as far as you are not in that dungeon "

I smiled sheepishly "Thank you Kim . "

" But Gerald , how were you able to convince him to help you?"

"I didn't convince him . He helped willingly without me asking for help ." Someone was knocking , so I went to open the door 

I couldn't even close the door back hurriedly when Bryan pinned me to the wall "You think I don't know your tactics , I give you ten hours to call off that engagement or …..

"Or what Bryan martins ?" Kim walks up to him , pushing him from me .

He was shocked to see Kim in the room . He angrily went out ,slamming the door on our faces 

I hugged Kim , crying on her chest . "It's fine Ezra ."

She put me in bed and said "let me get a knife to cut up the apples . I will be back soon"

I was reluctant to let her go but I did . Shaking and breathing so fast 

Few minutes later, the door to my hospital room opened. I jolted up in excitement thinking it is Kim 

Gerald ? 

His face held no emotion as usual. he sat right beside me , opened the bag he brought which consists of food and fruits . 

"Eat" he says 

I looked at him for a few minutes before digging into the food . Normally I would reject it but I was starving and I can barely move 

I ate like a starved animal forgetting he's sitting right beside me . I felt his eyes on me and I immediately calm my pace

I glanced at him and saw a bright smile on his face for the first time . I smiled back at him and with my mouth full , I said "thank you" he nodded and glanced at his watch , hurriedly rising to his feet "you will be discharged today . Do you need a ride ?"

I cleaned my mouth , gulping down a glass of water "I have someone to give me a ride already thank you" 

"Okay and also , this is my card . You can send me an email if you need to talk or ask questions ."

"You mean I can message you right ?"

"Whatever makes you comfortable . I will be leaving for New York today , do take care of yourself" 

I nodded lightly . He was about to leave when I shouted "do you know Kimberly, your cousin Kimberly ?"

"What about her ?" He asked 

I smiled "she's my friend , a very close friend"

"Good !" 

He left , closing the door quietly behind him . I resumed munching hard on my food

I couldn't help but think why I told him Kim is my friend like he cares 

I packed my stuff after eating , I couldn't help but ask myself where Kim is ? 

She came in a minute later , gasping for breath . 

"Guess what ?"

I rolled my eyes , not ready for her games and shit. "Not today Kim"

Girl !! Gerald is ….. 

The door opened , a tall man in dark shades and a woman glued beside him came in with muscular, heavy scary men behind them .

"You must be Ezra ?" The lady says with a tinny high chimed voice 

I nodded and she extended her hand towards me . Well manicured , beautiful nail set , a van cleef bangle and her pandora shiny diamond ring and perfectly Whitened teeth 

I smiled awkwardly as I shook her hand "if I may ask , who are you ?"

She chuckled lightly "Whitney Bryson , Gerald's elder sister"

"Oh nice to meet you ." I naively say 

"I wouldn't say the same but let's cut it short . How much do you want ?"

Pardon ?

"Cut off your engagement with Gerald and I will make your life better"
