CHAPTER 52.Friend Date

  Annie

I could feel the butterflies in my stomach as I prepared to go out with James. I know technically this wasn't a date, but if he wanted to hang out, he must've liked me, right?

Even if he didn't like me that way, I would still enjoy his company. I was tired of being alone in this city.

As the time drew near, I started to feel more nervous. I checked my hair and makeup in the mirror several times, making sure everything was just right. I grabbed my purse and headed out the door.

  "Hold it right there."

I stopped walking right away. My breath came out in short gasps.

Because for a moment, I thought it was my mother talking behind me.

"I am talking to you. Did you not hear me?" Grandma sounded irritated, so I snapped out of it.

"S...sorry, grandma," I mumbled as I turned around.

  "Where are you going?"
