Choices

In a void, a ethereal figure can be seen floating, suddenly what seems to be eyes appear on the figure, making it look like its awake, 'Where… am I?' it thinks to itself.

'Am I dead? I was in my bed just a second ago…' , yes the figure is the soul of Nilson.

Nilson's soul begins to wander around the void, trying to make sense of his situation. He feels lost and confused, unsure of what to do next. As he drifts through the emptiness, he begins to reflect on his life and the choices he made. He realizes that he had always been so focused on his passion for science and exploration that he neglected the other important aspects of life, such as building relationships and taking care of his own well-being.

He sighs before continuing to explore the endless darkness, 'Is this all there is after death? Just darkness? Is this Limbo?' He starts panicking thinking he would be here forever.

Suddenly the endless inky darkness turns a bright white, just as that happens a giant blue game-like screen appears and towers over him.

'Wha-?'

Suddenly writing appears on it, it seems to be in a weird language he has never seen.

After staring at the screen for a bit the language changes to English, his second language, 'Why not Bokmål Norwegian?' He thinks to himself before looking up at the now English words

[Welcome Nilson, I am the Akashic record, administrator of all possible realities, I will give you a choice, cease to exist like all beings that die or live again in a new world.]

'Wait is there no heaven or anything after death?' Nilson asked, he was never a believer in a higher power or souls and the like, but after waking up here he assumed there will be a heaven or maybe hell for him to go to.

[No there is not, once something dies I use its soul to make a brand new one, now choose, Erasure or Life]

'Uhm I choose life, will I remember all I know?' He asks, after thinking for a bit he asks again, 'Why is this happening to me?'

[Reasons you do not need to know, eventually you will find the purpose of this but for now, the world you are going to live in is not like your own] The record resounds in my mind.

Suddenly information on the world forces its way into his mind, 'Wha- what is this place'.

'A creepy shiny grin forms on his ethereal body, 'No way I get to go there', he looks up at the Record prompting it to continue.

Mammal(Generic form is a big rat like creature)

Upgrades related to Mammals are more likely to appear for this class(Extra appendages like trunks or tails, and for some reason acquiring wings is easier for this class, intelligence is also a upgrade more likely to appear), but upgrades related to other classes are really rare, but they can appear in the right conditions.

Magic Affinity: Lightning

Aquatic(Generic form is a fish like creature)

Upgrades related to Aquatic behavior are more common for this class(Gigantism, parasitism, advanced regeneration, age immortality like e specific type of jellyfish, exoskeletons, bio luminescence and so on), but upgrades related to other classes are really rare, but they can appear in the right conditions.

Magic Affinity: Air(They can manipulate oxygen in the ocean but doing so to the world outside of water is considerably harder.)

Insect(Generic form is a silverfish like creature)

Upgrades related to Insects are more likely to appear for this class(Exoskeletons, parasitism, multiple legs, advanced regeneration, wings, poison, venom and the really, really, really rare ability to allow offspring to inherent the upgrades it wants them to, allowing them to start colonies like what ants and bees do.), but upgrades related to other classes are really rare, but they can appear in the right conditions.

Reptile(Generic form is a lizard like creature)

Upgrades related to Reptiles are more likely to appear for this class(Cold blooded-ness, scales, venom, egg laying, advanced regeneration, and some aquatic features like and fins are slightly more common, wings are also possible but they function more like pterosaurs wings, but they can develop into feathered wings if the right conditions are met, i.e. cold weather.), but upgrades related to other classes are really rare, but they can appear in the right conditions.

Plant(Generic form is a plant)

Upgrades related to plants are more likely to appear for this class(parasitism, poison, asexual reproduction, hive minds, and on rare occasions they can become mobile essentially becoming Ent's and the like), but upgrades related to other classes are really rare, but they can appear in the right conditions.

Nilson looks at his options intently, he knows all there is to know about the world now, so he knows that evolution is different here, to evolve a creature has to kill other creatures gaining exp by doing so they can then level up with enough exp and choose 1 of 5 upgrades that are influenced by what the creature did before getting the needed experience to level up.

All creatures depending on the class have a generic form that they are born with, meaning even if a creature have evolved many upgrades its offspring will be the default class form.

This means there are no advantages when a creature is born. 'How does the Ecosystem even work there?' Nilson thinks to himself.

'Aquatic is crossed off immediately, <Gigantism > is a appealing trait but oceans are one of the most dangerous environments, and it has a abundance of crazy creatures and that's just in my worlds, where the laws of physics keep things in check, but in this new world all common sense is thrown out the window, the things that can be found there are gonna be crazy, added to the fact I wont be able to use my intelligence well if I a stuck in the water with no limbs.' He thinks to himself agreeing with his logic.

He knows that it is possible for a class to gain features of another but it is difficult more so in the case for aquatic, so he would rather choose something that can easily diversify into other classes.

'Plant is also crossed off, the lack of movement is frightening, even though the plant class is Semi-Immortal it doesn't make up for the fact it can still be killed if you don't let it regenerate, Plant would only be good in the later part of its life.' He thinks to himself.

It can evolve to move eventually, but that would take way to long and Nilson would probably die before then.

'Insect is really good, very versatile can survive almost anywhere even in its generic form, but body limitations really show with the whole exoskeleton, its a trait that cannot be removed, I also don't have alot of information about insects so I wont know what will be good for me.'

After debating for a bit he decides to forgo insect, now there is only Reptile and Mammal.

'Both are solid, the Fire attribute will work really well with my intelligence and the Lightning can also work well in conjunction with mammal, Bipedalism is extremely rare but is more common in Mammals.'

After thinking for a bit Nilson chooses Mammal, Reptile is good but its cold bloodedness can really screw Nilson over in the wrong conditions, and Mammals are what he knows most.

He knows that his knowledge might be useless but its better than nothing.

He looks back up at the Record, 'I have chosen Mammal' He thinks and just as he does so he loses consciousness.
