Mate

  Caeron's POV

The whole day is quite chaotic. The preparations for my birthday and the incident that happened outside the pack house is a lot for me to handle. For the  whole day, instead of preparing for my party tonight, we are currently investigating what happened and who was the man in the suit who died there. The rogue is the least of our worries.

I felt a lot of pressure today when suddenly I felt sick like I was burning up. I told my parents and they call for the pack doctor but he said I was fine.

"I think you have met your mate and she's feeling sick right now, poor girl... You can really feel everything she feels because of the mate bond!". My Mum concluded.

"You don't think it's Cara?". I am being hopeful.

"Caeron stop.... Cara maybe gone now and we have to accept that". She sighed. "Maybe you have a second chance mate and you are feeling what she's feeling. Be thankful that the Goddess bless you with another one, you truly are blessed". Then she gave me a very warm loving hug.

"Make sure this time you get her. A second chance mate is very rare to have". My Dad added.

"Can I just choose another one?". I asked them and I saw horror on their faces.

"The Goddess gave you another one and you want to reject her?....Do you know what will happen if you do that?". My Mum was in a total shocked and a bit angry.

"I know I've sent you to the Alpha training before but didn't they tell you how important our mate to us?... It's one of the most important lecture in there". My Dad said surprisingly and I saw how his eyebrows lined in to one.

"I... I didn't listen well". I lied to them. I never attended that lecture about mates.

"Listen son..... What we are today is we owe it to our mate". He said in a serious tone and I know what he meant.

There was a myth that our pack believed for a very long time now and the story goes like this...

The Moon Goddess had always have a powerful guardians and warriors. The four guardians are female while his lead warriors are male. The top warrior is called an Alpha and he leads all werewolves under him in battle. He is ruthless and have no fear. He kills anyone on his way. The Moon Goddess got worried about his behaviour even her four guardians. So she sent him to land to watch a child who she was fond of. The Moon Goddess wants him to learn her peaceful behavior and calmness.

The child is a very cute little girl who always brings flowers to the Moon Goddess' shrine that's why she was like by the Moon Goddess herself. At first the Alpha was reluctant and tried to refuse. He hates weak humans specially children the most but he needs to obey her so he went down on the land and look after her. The girl's name was Luna it means the moon. He was watching her since then until she grows up and turned to a beautiful woman. For those years they've spent together their hearts finds comfort for each other.

One day, the Alpha saw a human male talking to Luna and he got very angry and lunge to the human boy. The boy called him monster and run away. He saw horror on Luna's face and he too run away from her. He looked himself in the mirror and for the first time he noticed how different he was to Luna. He maybe walking in two feet like her but he have fur all over his body. His sharp canine are sticking out and his claw are long and like a razor blade. He thought Luna was probably very scared of him. So what he did was hide and let her not see him.

Everyday he was hiding. He was just looking at her from afar using his ability of sight. But those days are also the days Luna was always looking for him. He tried to ignore her until he saw her breakdown and cry. He sprinted to her side to ask what happened but before he could say a word Luna hugged her, begging for him to stay. His heart breaks. No one cried for him nor asked him to stay by their side. Then he decided to stay.

On that day, the Alpha found out that his heart already belongs to her but he was afraid. Afraid that their appearance is somewhat different. So he asked the Moon Goddess to give him an ability to change himself and to be like a human even for a moment just to be with his beloved without a fear that people might harm her because of him. And the Moon Goddess told him to wait. When the time comes Luna became really sick. So the Alpha asked the Moon Goddess again. He take back the first wish and asked her to give Luna his ability to heal instead. But the Moon Goddess said that if she do that his power and strength will be lessen but he didn't care. He just want his Luna.

The Moon Goddess decided to personally asked Luna for her opinion and told her what the Alpha wished for and also told her the consequences he is facing. Luna declined what he is offering. She don't want him to get hurt or suffer. All she wished is to be with him because she loves him with all her heart. And so the Moon Goddess asked Luna if she wants her to give half of her humanity to him and she said yes.

The Moon Goddess talked to both of them and decided to give each other half of what they have. Half of their souls and half of their hearts. And both Alpha and Luna agreed because they love each other. And they became the first MATE.

But the Moon Goddess warned them. If one of them and their future generations brake the bond of mate, that she earnestly made, both of them will suffer tremendous pain. Only one mate for one wolf. And from there forward every wolf tried to find half of their hearts and souls. Their mates.
